Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own.
At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!
What Insiders Are Saying
Even with all the new Highlands competition, Root Down is still a Denver staple.
Food was outstanding ! Unique flavors perfectly balanced . We will certainly look forward to going back on our next visit to Denver.
Went for brunch and it was so good! I got the mushroom omelette. Their Bloody Mary and Mimosa was delicious. Definitely got my money’s worth.
My best friend and I went here for a nice birthday dinner and we absolutely loved it! Our waitress was awesome and helped us narrow down to make sure we had a great sampling but also room for dessert!
We love Root Down. Great place to take out of town company too.
Always a great experience!
Awesome service- as always.
Excellent vibe: hip and cool, yet relaxed and welcoming. Friendly staff. Tasty, balanced, well presented, yet unpretentious food. Everything about Root Down look, feels, and tastes honest. Poblano soup was delicious - perfectly spicy, creamy, smooth, and disarmingly light green. Beet salad was equally tasty, with plenty of roasted beet chunks mixed with a generous serving of baby arugula. Flat iron stake was the tastiest, softest, (perfect temperature) serving of meet I've had in a long time. Bar seating - very comfortable. On the one hand, with this kind of attitude towards food quality, I wish the menu had more choices; on the other hand, I realize that limiting the choice of offerings may be conducive to achieving higher quality. Anyway, BRAVO!
Great place to eat and drink. Delicious every time.
Food was excellent - we had several small plates. Prices were rather high for the small plates however. Very good, personable service.
It was a bit crowded and loud but the food was great! Service was a little slow but we were not in a hurry.
This is our neighborhood restaurant. It's our favorite. Amazing food. Great staff. Wonderful and vibey atmosphere. I took my family who was in town visiting. They LOVED it!
All food and cocktails were fantastic! Friendly staff and great environment. Highly recommend for a low key, nice dinner.
Always amazing. My partner and I used to go to root down regularly but have not been back for three years due to distance. I absolutely love it here and can always count on everything being delicious!
The food was horrible and too expensive. The drinks were 12 & each. The waiter never came by to check on us. The food was expensive and tasted bad.
Awesome food, as always. We sat in the main dining area for lunch and it was SOOOO noisy. We were a party of 5 and had to rearrange twice so we could all hear the conversations going on. Given this, I would not bring older folks here as we would never hear each other.
Great place for Friday night
I had too high of expectations and the food just did not deliver for the price.
Love love love this restaurant! Always creative, interesting and welcoming.
Root Down never disappoints! The beet salad is one of my favorite salads in Denver.
Dinner with my daughters
This isn’t just a good restaurant, it’s a great one. Adrianna, our server, is an expert at wine pairings, and the tacos, rock fish, and pork loin were perfectly prepared. A great experience!
Our server, Adrianna, was great. She let us dine at our own pace and made great suggestions on the food. The wine pairings for the restaurant week menu were spot on as well. Definitely will be back:
Brunch at Root Down is always awesome.
I LOVE Root Down! Always have a spectacular time with friends. This time was a small baby sprinkle for a friend, and it was a big hit. The food was tasty and awesome as always, the blood orange mimosas were flowing, our server was attentive, and a great time was had by all who attended. Can’t wait to go back.
Food was amazing. Service lacked a bit but not bad overall
I’m vegetarian, my sister is vegan and my wife likes seafood. We all like a great cocktail too. Root Down delivered on all fronts. Thank you.
We sat at the bar, great experience for restaurant week.
My wife and I, who are foodies & dine out a lot, visited during Restaurant Week & were very impressed. From the moment we walked in, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prior to being seated, we had a drink in the bar and took advantage of special Happy Hour pricing. As for our meals, we also took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu as the portions were the same size as those on the regular menu and the value was too good to pass up! Great service, too! Overall, a wonderful experience! We’ll be back!
The food was absolutely delicious! They accommodated vegan needs with wonderful choices...
Fun little place, nice atmosphere and wait staff. Only complaint is the parking situation. The valet was great but it's still unfortunate you have to have one. Who knows how far he had to run to get our car? Kind of felt bad for him.
Birthday celebration was recognized by staff with a card, Prosecco and a dessert. Very special.
Our server was attentive and fun, but not pesky or disruptive. (I gave her a 30% tip.)
As always, the food was creative, tasty and presented with flair.
Food was delicious,. The layers of flavor keep us going back for more.
We joined Root Down for Restaurant Week because it felt like a good opportunity to try more of their delicious dishes. For $50 each, we received a 3 course meal with wine pairings. The wine pairings - a $15 add on - were well worth the price tag and all went beautifully with the courses. We started with the Devils on Horseback and the Crab & Avocado tacos, both were excellent. I really loved the jicama taco shells, they made the tacos extra refreshing, and the cheese fondue sauce the devils were topped with was phenomenal. Second course we had the Moroccan pork & the rockfish tom kha. The tom kha dish was so very good that we might go back just to have it again! The pork was very good as well, but I think anything would have paled in comparison with the tom kha. For dessert, two chocolate bombes were the way to wrap up the meal. Absolutely loved everything - taste and portions were great. Highly recommend!
Always a great experience! Love this place, and the food is awesome.
I had the opportunity to experience Root Down during Restaurant Week and it did not disappoint. Delicious food, wonderful service and great value. I would definitely go back and try so much more from the menu!
Great food and service. Definitely will be back.
We went to Root Down for my wife and sisters birthdays during Restaurant week.
We had 3 different 1st courses. They were all great. The 2nd course chicken & pork loin were both wonderful.
The service and ambience were superb. We will definitely be back
As always, we had a wonderful meal at Root Down. From the free valet parking to being immediately seated, followed through with a sumptuous meal, the night was spectacular. Not only that, but our server, Tiffany, made our anniversary a beautifully memorable event with humor and truly personal service. Thank you for everything!
Fantastic experience all around. Hosted an event for 12 people, and the staff were accommodating, flexible, and friendly... and then there was the food! The food was delicious! We had a wonderful experience--highly recommend.
Our server was amazing! Food was on point you have to try the zucchini French toast they were amazing!!!!!
