Root & Bone – Miami
I highly recommend and really enjoyed Root & Bone food although on the pricey side, we all though it was very good. I will say the specialty cocktails were priced right, however I found the wine was overpriced for this level of a restaurant. To enjoy a glass of wine should not cost as much as your meal $20/$24
Very noisy when full (no noise attenuating materials). Daily special was very good, the lobster pappardelle was mediocre (practically no lobster or taste).
Brought a co-worker to experience their Miami Spice menu. She’s still talking about it 4 days later!! You made a great impression !
Great food, ambiance and friendly staff. The menu has a great southern flair and the food has a wonderful home cooked appeal to it. It's in a great location in downtown South Miami with convenient parking and a Miami Metro station across the street. The ambiance is definitely hip but not over the top. The full bar is lively and friendly. The service is very professional and the staff goes out of its way to make sure everything is to your liking.
We arrived 40 minutes earlier than our reservation, and although the restaurant was packed, they managed to seat us.
From the moment we sat down until we left we were impressed with the service, the attention, the food, the atmosphere. For starters we went with (Drunken Deviled Eggs, Sticky pork belly bacon,) We had to order the appetizers twice; It was that good. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles my wife the Everything Bagel Waffle it was terrific.
For all you bourbon drinkers please ask for JEFF ask him to take you on a Bourbon Flight. Seriously, looking forward to what Jeff comes up with next Sunday! Stay Tuned.
Food, service and ambiance were outstanding. This was our fourth visit to Root and Bone and each time it has been outstanding. Look forward to our next visit.
Can be for a special occasion or a date night. The food is amazing and service as well
We ordered the watermelon and farmer cheese salad. When it came to the table there was no cheese. Told the waitress and she returned with Parmesan cheese. Later I told her the salad was supposed to come with farmer cheese, not Parmesan cheese. She said the kitchen told her they were out of farmer cheese. So why didn’t she tell us that when she brought us the salad or the Parmesan cheese?
Brunch was great!
Good atmosphere, superb service and recommendations from Jose.
Food was bland and most things came cold or lukewarm. Very noisy.
Reservations for 5 on online included note its a birthday dinner for son going to college cookie was fine, biscuits good, wine good, fried chicken excellent, only entree merited its reputation. As waitress removed 1/2 eaten dishes she NEVER asked if something was wrong, poor service.Check came, they did not put the wine on my tab, embarrassingly my friend paid for 1/2 a bottle, she only had 1 glass. NOTHING for b-day,finally, u charged me for the drink while we waited 30 minutes for our table-low class! Our dinner was $300+, awful.Gables resident, will not return, will MOST CERTAINLY NOT recommend. Called mgr next day, still waiting 4 call
Not worth it for the price. Way overpriced for quantity of food. Service is extremely slow. Not the restaurants fault but also extremely loud inside that fish bowl. Won't be back or recommend.
Beautifully decorated restaurant with a relaxing trendy ambiance. The food was amazing especially the pork belly bacon!
Went for Miami spice the fried chicken was the best fried chicken that i ever had better than some other famous chicken places here in Miami. Even better was the short rib meatloaf.
Nice ambiance and decor. The food/ drinks are overpriced. Example devil eggs (each half egg 2.50)
Beautiful, bright, lively space with lots of windows but no view. We went during Miami Spice. I didn’t like that I had to ask for the Spice menu; it should have been given along with the regular menu The food was beautiful and tasty. I had the tea-brined fried chicken. It was very good but a little too sweet for my taste. The porch punch cocktail was light and fruity, perfect for the summer. Aside from the hostess’s flub by not handing me a Spice menu immediately, the service was flawless. I would go again.
We were very disappointed because we went hoping to participate in Miami Spice. Not everyone in our part wanted to get a Miami Spice menu however we were told that everyone had to get Miami Spice or no one could get it. I have been to many restaurants during the Miami Spice months and have never found this to be the case. Our service was good. The food was okay but nothing special.
We have been here several times. The food rating goes up and down but the servers are always excellent
Great Miami Spice menu. Food and service were excellent. After a not so great experience a few months ago I was a bit hesitant but am glad we gave it another try.
We liked the appetizers more than the main courses. The specialty cocktails were interesting and good.
It was great!
It was my first time at Root and Bone, and can definitely say my last!! The noise level at the restaurant was over the top, the service was poor and the food has made me sick for the last couple of days, need I say more ?
I'd definitely recommend this place for the food because everything we tried was tasty. The ambience is pretty and it's great they have free parking. The service was ok. Not super friendly but just nice enough. The thing I'd let other diners know is while the meal portions are a somewhat decent size, the appetizer/small plate portions are tiny as is the 'glass' of wine which i originally thought the server brought out as a sample. The other drinks are tiny too and they are expensive. I understand it's probably an expensive place to lease because of location and they have to pass on the cost but i'd actually pay a couple bucks more to get normal drink and meal portion sizes.
Food was AMAZING! New Miami spice menu was very misleading. Cannot be ordered by just one person, has to be ordered by the whole table. This was not explained to us when the menu was given.
Excellent atmosphere and food. If anyone tells you different it’s a lie
The food is excellent, very well prepared and presented. There was not one plate that I preferred over any other. The fired chicken was crispy and juicy, perfectly seasoned and the honey tabasco sauce was to die for. The biscuits, the bacon, the salads, everything was delicious. However, the desert was disappointing. We ordered the caramel apple cake and it had the appearance, temperature and taste of store-bought cake. For a place with such good food, the desert should have been equally good. I would still go back anytime but not order desert.
Adorable restaurant. Food was very good. It was my mom’s birthday, we made brunch reservations, they said happy birthday upon walking in and so did the waiter but they didn’t sing happy birthday/bring a dessert. I think after spending $160 on brunch, a complimentary dessert and a happy birthday song would have been nice.
Great space. Great food.
Everything was exceptional! The live music was nice, you could hear it without being overbearing.
I’m local and this was my 3rd visit to Root and Bone. Had been pleased with previous visits. This time it took 15 minutes for someone to take my drink order. Restaurant was quiet in the morning and not busy at all. My food was satisfactory but my friend’s poached eggs came out cold. Twice.
Previously had good service, good food here so hoping this was a one-time slip for this otherwise promising restaurant.
The food was excellent! The service superb! Angela explained everything and every dish in detail and she was very very nice and attentive!
We will be back for sure!
We loved the vibe of Root & Bone. The fried chicken was loved by everyone at the table and we are ready to return just for that alone. Also had the meatloaf and the shrimp and grits - also winners. The red velvet cake was perfection. The service is amazing. Free parking is a major plus for South Miami. We will be back.
I have had wonderful meals here but the last one was very lacking. The fried chicken is usually delicious but this time it was dry and cold. As if precooked and served.
Over the top comfort food. An explosion of flavors. Wonderful service and great ambiance. Highly recommended but make reservations.
The place is very nice, our waitress Stacy was very sweet. Sadly the food was not to our expectations! They rave about their "warm, homemade biscuits" which came out cold and hard!!! When I sent them back they microwaved them, making them even harder and chewy. At $7 for 2 small biscuits ($3.50 each) I found it ridiculous!!!
Their ribs came out in a hot skillet (which looked good for presentation purposes) but the $36 ribs were cold!!!! They were in layers so the ones all the way at the bottom of the skillet were room temperature but the ones on top were cold!!! Their corn bread skillet is tiny, we were told it's all served family style meant to share and the skillet was tiny!!! Bottom line they are grossly overpriced, and the portions are small!!!
The restaurant is beautiful, great ambiance. Food amazing :)
Ambience was nice, our service was ok but tables beside us were complaining. My wife had fish which she said tasted fresh. I had skirt steak which had a nice flavor but was cooked well done when I asked for pink in the middle so that kind of ruined it. The sweet tea was good. We will give it 1 more try to see if it stays in the rotation.
Very good food with high quality ingredients. Very creative preparation of traditional dishes such as the “meatloaf”. It is a fusion between Cuban “Vaca Frita” and meatloaf flavors. We ordered our dish with “grits” instead of mashed potato for an extra level of flavor and texture. The sweet plaintain mash is phenomenal. It’s also a creative version of the Cuban dish, “Fufu”, with hearty bits of bacon that add saltiness and a nice smoky flavor.
Food was great. Ambiance was nice.
