First time visiting Root and Bone and I cannot say enough amazing things about our food and service. Overall I am fully satisfied
Great food and service!! First time here an would definitely come back
Charming ambience, cozy and warm. Southern comfort food. Best biscuits I have EVERY had (and I don't like biscuits!) Would definitely recommend and I will be going back!! :)
The fried chicken is fantastic. Will definitely be getting it again.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in the city. Their elevated take on ‘Southern’ classics hits all the right taste buds! I have not had a bad thing here, but I, of course, have to mention both their fried chicken and ribs. Both are melt in your mouth delicious. Also love the summer beans and angel biscuits… WOW! Their R&B Old Fashioned is so good, you might have to pay for it in the morning. :) Anyways, gotta try Root & Bone!
I had a difficult time choosing what to eat and ultimately opted for the Smashed Avocado toast and a side of the grits. Both were delicious! My sister got the biscuits and gravy with a side of buckwheat waffles. The gravy was peppery but not too spicy, and the portion size large. The buckwheat waffles did not seem to be 100% buckwheat as we grew up with in West Virginia. Both she and my son said the bourbon maple syrup had too much of a bourbon flavor. After I tasted it, I agreed. My son got the chicken and waffles, and the hot sauce for the chicken was just right for him. Spicy but flavorful. We didn't try any of the brunch cocktails but what I saw of the Bloody Mary's served at another table made me second guess that decision!
Just DELICIOUS! We come from out of town and always make a reservation because it's THAT GOOD!
Our group likes to try new restaurants, so we visited Root & Bone. The food was great…southern home cooking with flair! Our waitress was very nice, knowledgeable & fun. Plus it was interesting to watch the kitchen at work through the large glass windows. Clever ambiance & decor.
R & B was great the brunch/lunch items we ordered were superb. Their chicken was so good I didn't want to share.
It’s the second time I’m there, and we enjoyed the food and drinks a lot. The place is very pretty and David and Destiny are just great.
Great food at Root and Bone. Service was okay but food is phenomenal!
Service was just ok. Not very attentive. Did not ask if I wanted another cocktail.
Our first visit to Root & Bone and we were delighted by the food selection, attentive staff, and overall creativity of the meals. We plan to bring our entire family (reservation for 8) in March for a combined birthday dinner. Fun evening!
Excellent menu with lots of choices. We enjoy the drink menu as well. We loved the meatloaf!
Absolutely an enjoyable atmosphere with a very polite and attentive wait staff. I thought the menu was a little too pricey for portion sizes, but delicious. I will definitely visit again!
Really enjoyed the Beet salad, ribs and banana crème brûlée. Delicious
Was a little disappointed in the menu stating that they have Gluten free and gluten free possible options but then to find out that only some of the items can truly be made gluten free based on how they are cooked. However, was very impressed that our server was aware of this information and knowledgeable on how the menu items were prepared to be able to share this with us as one person in our party can not have gluten at all nor risk her food being exposed.
Great food, perfectly prepared and a staff that understands the menu to help you cater the final choices that best fit your evening eating experience.
We loved the food and the atmosphere! Our server Xavier was awesome too.
Great service and food - as always
Wonderful food and service!! Love the ambiance!
Great food & cocktails! We will return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. Well prepared entrees, an outstanding Bloody Mary and great prompt service.
I wish I could remember our waiter. Should be in record as we had a reservation. He was outstanding. Food is always excellent and great vibe as always.
We usually love this place. The kitchen was not on their A game Saturday night. Salad arrived 2 minutes before entrees. My pork chop was over cooked. 3 out of 5 tonight.
Enjoyed our dinner and experience.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Indy. We went for my husband’s birthday after being here several times before. My favorite dish is shrimp and grits. I was a little disappointed this time. It did not taste the same as before. Couldn’t pin point what the difference was but wasn’t the same.
My husband and I chose to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary on Saturday, January 15th at Bone and Root. It was a remarkable experience for both of us. We are foodies and enjoy cooking ourselves, yet not this night.
We were treated to some of the best food we have had in Indy which is saying a lot for someone who grew up in the Chicago suburbs and from a large Italian family who knows what food is all about. We are returning for my birthday in February!
We will be suggesting to our friends!
Thank you for a wonderful experience and for making our anniversary so pleasant!
Food and service was fantastic!! Our first time here and we will definitely be coming back. Staff was friendly and professional. Truly enjoyed our evening!
My family and I come here often and enjoy our meal each time. While we always enjoy the play list, this time we happen to sit in a section where the music was too loud to have a conversation. But, it would not keep us from continuing to enjoy a meal here.
This is our 3rd trip to Indy and our 3rd time at Root & Bone. We were lucky enough to find it on our first trip and it’s now a “must do.” We went for brunch this time to switch it up a bit and it did not disappoint. The chicken and waffles were fabulous and my daughters favorite Braised Short Rib Meatloaf was perfect with eggs. If you’re in Indy, you have to add this to your short lists of restaurants to visit.
Wonderful food and atmosphere
The food and service were great! Had a good time and would definitely go back. Only thing is, the drinks are kind of expensive and weak. The glasses are mostly filled with ice to make it seem like you’re getting a lot of drink but the reality is that you’re not. I’d like that to change because each drink is like $13+.
Great food and drink
Our server, Destiny, was great! We ordered the angel biscuits and they were delicious! My husband is a fried chicken affecionado and he said may be best fried chicken he ever had! And we’re from the South! The braised short rib meatloaf was so good! Oh, no the roasted beet and pear salad was delicious! Very large portions!
Great dining experience. Staff is always friendly. Food is ALWAYS good. Excellent service as well.
Awesome food with excellent service every time we eat @ Root and Bone
Fabulous! Our server was awesome the food was delish!
Once again, BLOWN AWAY!
the service. The food. The cocktails. Outstanding.
Trust me l, you want the biscuits. You want the deviled eggs you NEED the bacon Board!
And the fried chicken soaked in sweet tea brine? Just get it. You won’t regret and you’ll probably have a quiet dinner because everyone will be stuffing their faces with food and Unable to speak. Lol
The Meatloaf is out of this world! This is our 2nd trip and it’s never a disappointment.
Make a reservation and enjoy the flavors and smells and amazing service and then book again and come back for more.
Overall, our experience was ok, but not worth the price. This was our first visit and the dining room, bar, and general ambiance were beautiful. We both ordered the R&B Old Fashioned -- 2.5-3oz for $15. It was good, but we expected a bit more. For starters, we ordered the Angel Biscuits and the Buckwheat Cheddar Waffles. Both were tasty. The waffles were fluffy, but the cheddar didn't add much to the dish. We decided to split a "large plate", the Braised Short Rib ‘Meatloaf’ -- two small squares of 'meatloaf' (essentially, shredded rib meat pressed into 4" square pucks), a 4"-5" dollop of mashed potatoes, and four 4"-5" long spears of asparagus. The meat was dry. The tomato jam on top of the meat was delicious, but it couldn't save the dry meat. The asparagus was perfectly grilled and ended up being our favorite item on the plate. The mashed potatoes with veal demi glace were also tasty, but there wasn't much of either the asparagus or the potatoes. For $27, we expected a higher quality entree and, perhaps, a bit more of it. For dessert, we shared a Sticky Pecan Pudding, which we really enjoyed. The service was just ok. We had to wait for a long time in between ordering each course. We appreciate a server who lets us order at a leisurely pace, but we would have appreciated someone checking on us regularly to see if we were ready for the next course. Overall, our experience was alright, but we didn't enjoy it enough to return.
