WE had a great time! The staff was very accommodating and the food was GREAT! Thanks for making this a positive experience for us as we were visiting for the first time!
Buffet was very unimpressive. There were flies all over the bagels, and the offerings were not special at all.

I happily stumbled upon Root & Bone and was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. Root & Bone is located on the first floor of the Shelborne Hotel, adjacent to the lobby, and though it is small, the experience packs a punch. My sister and I feasted on the Fried Chicken Biscuits, the Root & Bone fried chicken bucket of bird, shrimp and grits, and the macaroni and cheese. All of it was so delicious, though a tad bit salty. The flavors were rich and savory, the presentation was appealing, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.
While it’s in the hotels lobby the food is still very good and great value for money. However the menu is very limited to basically fried chicken and sides. So if you like southern fried chicken and the usual adds.
When we arrived, we stood outside for a while debating whether we wanted to eat here - the restaurant is in the lobby of the Shelborne hotel and does not look inviting or inspiring at all. It looks like hotel lobby seating. Totally exposed. No ambiance.
We decided to give it a go.
The food is AMAZING. Wow. We were blown away - the fried chicken, the biscuits, the short-rib - the flavors, the textures. Some of the best we have ever had.
So, if you are looking for soul food this one of the best in Miami, but be prepared to not enjoy the surroundings.
Really excellent fried chicken. It would be a shame if this restaurant doesn't take off. It is a little hidden in the Shelbourne but it is great value.
Food was exceptional, cocktails were great too! Love the variety and untraditional twist on traditional plates - home food and nice decor. Service was good too, they were very nice and helpful when I couldn't locate my "Gilt City" coupon.
After an hour and half still never got our main course. Had to walk out.
Creative Southern cuisine carefully crafted by the exceptional team of Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth. Every item is savory and presentation is elegant. Serene and warm atmosphere augments the dining experience at the iconic Shelborne Hotel.
Didn't expect anything less from this restaurant. We had the Fried chicken and biscuits and OH MY GAWD it was fingers licking. Can't wait to go back to explore more of the menu items. BRAVO Chef and your Amazing Team...
Food was really great. Ambiance, drinks, great. Waiter was very friendly. However, we soon realized there seemed to be ulterior motives. Without going into any drawn out details, we realized seven different pieces of evidence that led us to believe that our waiter was not honest (in terms of the tipping policy specifically). There was a 20% gratuity already added to the bill and when we accidentally added an additional 20% on top of the entire bill, he was heavily involved in leading us to believe that was standard (withholding information, hastily taking payment before we were ready, not leaving the itemized receipt on the table, very chatty and “suave” as he was charging the card, almost to attempt distract us). Once we realized we double tipped and asked to see the itemized receipt, the attitude was very much one of “uhh, I didn’t think they’d figure it out,” completely opposite of the seemingly “helpful” attitude throughout the meal. Buyer beware!
Fantastic! The food was amazing as was the service. Would highly recommend. Note: location is a bit odd in the lobby area of a hotel, so it's not a place you would stop in for a drink...but the food is seriously to die for and I will definitely go back next time I'm in town. Best fried chicken ever!
My friend and I tried Root & Bone since they had a deal on Travelzoo. We were not disappointed! We started with the wonderful beet, arugula and gorgonzola salad, my friend had the half bird which she said was very tasty. I had the shrimp and grits which was the best I've ever had! And we shared the macaroni & cheese which was also delicious. The restaurant is located in the Shelbourne Hotel. Caution: the valet parking is $25 and the valet guy couldn't tell me if the restaurant validated parking or not so we parked along a side street not too far for $8 and walked to the restaurant instead.
The service here was great! It was nice to try so many different menu options. We loved our cocktails.

I’m not sure if the resto manages their open table account... I made a reso but when I showed up it was closed. Went back and glad we did. Great for kids. But I would call in the am first to see if they are actually open.

The food was great. The service was good but when we asked if we could use an online deal and they said we could not as it was new years, service declined noticeably.

Very nice menu. Definitely don't want to miss the fried chicken or the biscuits. The wait staff was very attentive. Small, intimate space that was surprisingly quiet.
Got there a little early. Seated right away. Place was empty. Empty. Our waitress however was over attentive to the point of making us feel rushed and pressured. Had barely had our menus in hand and she expected an immediate order. Was annoyed by questions. Was annoyed we needed to actually read the menu to see what we wanted. Took forever for drinks to arrive. We ordered a few apps to share. The literal moment a platter was empty they grabbed it away. Wasn't even done eating and they took my plate and walked away while I objected. She ran over with the bill and circled back to us in less than a minute as we looked it over. They automatically put on a tip which threw us off a bit at first because it wasn't clear where this other charge had come from. Waitress was very pushy. Felt very rushed and pressured. Already cancelled future reservation there. Was there in the past and it was great. Not interested in returning
Sad to see it so quiet, good food but slow... only 3 other table during our meal. Hard to get good servers when it is this quiet.
The place was empty on a Saturday at 8.pm. The air conditioning was not cooling and temperature was sweating hot.
The service was poor due lack of staff to the point that the wine botle was placed in the table and left to us to be served, not to mention the waiting time for our food.
Will not come back again
Worst place ever! The restaurant was empty, hot (apparently they want to make everyone uncomfortably hot) and our server was no where to be found, acting as if he was hustling and so busy. Food was ok, nothing worth coming back for, our white wine came hot. Seriously don't go to this place, spend your money somewhere else. Never again will I trust the Miami Herald recommendation.

Mother's Day brunch , we had reservations for 1:30 we got there they made us wait for table even thou it was empty sat us down around 2:10 brunch was over at 2:00 there was very little left and they did not bring out new or fresh food I complained then they bought our more steak not enough for 10 people that we where . I they should not take reservations and tell you no problem you will have plenty to eat if it's not true . Very expensive brunch 75.00 not worth the money very disappointed. Do not recommended .

Great restaurant ambiance and service but they should be more value for the money with the food. Prices are a bit high.
We had dinner around 8:00 on Easter Sunday. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe but there were only a couple other people at the restaurant at that time, so it was very quiet (pretty dead actually). However, the service was really great (potentially because there were no other tables to attend to, but I do feel like it would have been great regardless). We ordered 3-4 things to share, two entrees, and desserts and everything was super tasty. We were also able to chat with the chef for a bit, who was really friendly and down to earth. Overall, I hope the atmosphere is better at different times of day/days of the week, because everything else was really enjoyable.
After hearing only rave reviews about this restaurant we decided to finally check it out. Maybe we made the mistake of not going when they first opened.
Took about 45 min to get the first round of drinks. Then the champagne was hot. So they brought another glass that was not the brand I asked for. Food was ok. Chicken was good but nothing to write home about. Service was just horrible. Slow and the waitress seemed annoyed with her job.
Very thoughtful menu and interesting items to choose that were all delicious. Excellent, personable service. We were a party of eight.
We're big followers of ower/chef Jeff McGinnis (Gigi, Yardbird) and now The Sarsaparilla Club located in the Shelbourne Hotel at 18th & Collins (was able to park on the street, a bonus). Great looking room looking out at the pool area and the ocean. We were a party of 3 which is good for this menu--enabled us to share a few different plates. Loved everything: beet and goat cheese salad, short rib dumplings, wonderful carrot and faro salad, the tar'd and feather dish, and a couple of bacon buns. The Grosbois Chinon was a good choice of red wine to go with this food. Our server, Naomi, was excellent--very professional, friendly and most of all very knowledgeable about the menu. We even got a visit by Jeff, an excellent chef and a very personable host/owner. Will definitely return. Highly recommend for any time.
We were sat quickly before our reservation time. We immediately ordered four appetizers and our drinks. My wine showed up fast, the other mixed drink took about 15 minutes. The restaurant had only seven tables occupied. Our appetizers showed up an hour later. After the waitress finally looked over at us and noticed we have been waiting with empty drinks. She said she would check with the manager where our food was and got my second glass of wine and took another mixed drink order. The wine again showed up immediately. The food came now 1hr 20 min from when we ordered it. Twenty minutes later the other mixed drink showed up (by then we had finished the appetizers). The server gave the drink and asked if we want dessert or the check? We hadn't ordered entrees yet. I said actually we would like to order dinner, she seemed annoyed and then took our order. This time the food came out quickly and they had someone else finish out the table service. In Miami it's an automatic 20% gratuity applied to the bill. If there wasn't it would have been the first time in my life I would have tipped below. It's really disappointing, we had been here before and really enjoyed it. This time not a single person apologized or acknowledged the issues, not even the manager who did come to our table three times but just to clear plates.
Food options were delicious. Atmosphere a bit quiet. Was expecting more activity & livliness. Restaurant a bit out of the way behind hotel. But service and food and wine terrific.
Amazing food. I was blown away by the chef's 10-course special this past V-Day. What a presentation of food. 10/10
Very disappointing and the valet is a nightmare
I really wanted to like this place but it was a bit disappointment. We went for Valentine's day with my husband and tried their tasting menu. The first few dishes were vegetarian and they were rather good. The second set of dishes were dumplings and buns; they looked really appetizing but they were lacking flavor. The main courses were really not good and disappointing.
The staff was really nice and attentive but they had spread out the tables around the pool and it took them forever to serve the food and go from one place to another.
The manager was very attentive and thoughtful.
While I never think the price of a dish should warrant a below average, i think this is the exception. In this case, the cost of the food does not justify the experience. First, the restaurant is at the hotel's pool deck, so the ambiance is poor. Additionally, there is nothing special about the food. Finally, service was small.
In conclusion, it was not a terrible experience, but I would never go back.
made a reservation 3 weeks in advance. they called me a few hours before we were supposed to go saying they don't stay open that late. we left the heat game early to be able to get there an hour earlier to accommodate their hours. ordered their tasting menu, and after we went through all the courses they decided to only tell us then there were out of deserts and only took $6 off bill for that.
Tasting menu was delicious and a real bargain at $49.
This was my third visit to Sarsparilla Club and I suspect my last. Despite being almost empty at 8:00p, service was very, very slow. Cocktails were ordered ten minutes before our dinner order was placed and didn't arrive until after the first course was served. Our waitress was very friendly, but food runners did not appear knowledgeable about what they were serving. Menu options have dramatically reduced and earlier faves have been eliminated. On the tasting menu, none of the five courses served were stellar and a few were very overcooked. On the night of our dinner, only tables immediately adjacent to the bar were in use. A hotel guest at the bar was incredibly intoxicated and loud, to the point that several tables complained and yet nothing was done. All in all, this was a very disappointing dining experience.
