The food and the service were both top notch.
My wife and I went for a delayed Valentines dinner. It was our first visit.
We were served by Sienna who was exceptional. The service was the fastest we have had anywhere (it was at 5pm though). My wife ordered the ribeye and I the lamb chops. There wasn't a choice for the sides but what we were served was absolutely the BEST. For dessert they offered a white chocolate raspberry Creme Brule which we were excited to try. Wow!
The food was so good. Yes the choices are very limited and could be because of the time of year but we definitely will be back for the next special occasion!

Super cute place, Staff was very nice. However we got there 6:30 and they were already out of many things. Our waiter was very nice but he was having to do the whole dinning room.
Out of everything we ordered and didn’t tell us until we ordered, seems to be run by disorganized teeny boppers, hair in food, food cold and mushy.
My salmon was good, but my wife’s fiesta bowl was not.
Normally would be giving five stars here as I love the Prime Rib served on Friday and Saturday. But this Friday was just one of those nights were it all went wrong. Waited for our drinks to come. Finally took our order and after 20 minutes wait says. I went to check on your food and they don't have your order so retakes. Much later when food comes Our Prime Ribs are completely dry no Au Jus and I had asked for extra. Come to find out they had run out of juice. For me and most this is a major part of Prime Rib. And at $32 I don't mind paying for a good dinner. But tonight was just a disaster from start to finish. I've had excellent there in the past so will give it another shot.
Best Salmon dinner I've ever had! Food and service is always great! We appreciate they take the pandemic and the health of their staff and patrons seriously and follow all recommended precautions!
My family recently moved to Franklin and we weren't sure where we could find a good restaurant that serves steak. Fortunately for us, we stumbled upon Root and Barrel! We have eaten there twice in the past few months and both times were a wonderful experience. The first time we opened with the midnight mushies and the root wedge...sooo good on both accounts. The ribeye and (featured) prime rib meals were amazing, and the veggies were seasoned perfectly and not overcooked. We left pleasantly surprised at the food, service and ambiance. The second time we came was during the last night of "Winter Wonderland". This was a very special dinner for us for many reasons. A good friend of ours joined us. She has Parkinson Disease and has not been out to eat for at least three years due to self-consciousness. I was able , albeit reluctantly, to talk her into eating out due to a special request for secluded seating. The environment seemed like a sort of metaphor--with elements of nature and industrial brought together harmoniously and enhanced by the decorations. Although the staff (I predict) wasn't expecting such a large crowd, our waiter and host were more than accommodating and very pleasant. We had the mushies and wedge again and added the southern fried pimento cheese balls to our appetizer selection (the red pepper jelly sauce was awesome)! We all shared steak and crabcakes and had to finish off with cheese cake for dessert. It was an memorable meal, but, most importantly, our friend with PD had an extrodenary evening and enjoyed everything about it. As you can tell by my very wordy review, I just can't say enough positive words---keep up the excellent service and thank you--We will be back!

We loved our meal. I have special dietary restrictions and the staff was very knowledgeable; gave great recommendations and made sure my meal was perfect. I had the filet (minus the sauce) with asparagus, both were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. My husband had the prime rib, asparagus and a baked potato; he also was very pleased. We will definitely be back to Franklin, NC and to Root and Barrel!

Fabulous dinner!! Love the ambiance, great local beer selection and overall experience. I had the salmon and my husband had the shrimp & grits. Best salmon dish I’ve ever had!! We would return in a heartbeat!
Food was a bit pricey. Service wasn’t great. Out of a lot of things. Not bad. Just kind of meh.
Felt safe for the most part during Covid times. proper Mask wearing continues to be an issue. for instance, if mask continues to drop below the nose perhaps not the best mask to wear. . It is a bit pricey for what we got.
All 4 of us had the Prime Rib on the menu. All cooked to each person's liking and excellent quality of meat.
Will certainly be having it again.

I had made a reservation for outdoor seating and we were seated at the outdoor bar top. Not exactly what I was expecting nor was I happy about it. Then our waitress was not very attentive nor good. Our appetizer (the pimiento cheese fritters) was outstanding. The crab cakes were good but my husbands ribeye wasn’t seasoned and was very mediocre. The cocktails were good.
I highly recommend this restaurant. We had the filet and the crab cakes. Both were outstanding. The wine list was good and our server was excellent.
Great service at the outside table. Salad with crabcake and shrimp was outstanding as was the soup!

Our family of 5 dined here for dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor is calm and welcoming. I appreciated that they were taking temperature checks at the door for safety. Their menu had a good variety. Our steaks were cooked as ordered and had decent flavor. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were nice sides. My issue was with the way my son’s salmon was handled. It came out later than the rest of our meals and when delivered, we were told there was a dropped plate issue in the kitchen. The entree was grilled salmon with vegetables and gnocchi. Upon arrival, there were 2 gnocchis on the plate mixed with vegetables and mozzarella pearls. The salmon was nowhere near cooked in the middle and had to be sent back. We were not asked how we liked the salmon prepared. The server took the salmon plate back to the kitchen with almost none of the plate touched. When it was brought back, the salmon was well cooked and on a plate by itself with nothing else. We again had to ask that we receive the sides that came with the dish. At no point did anyone try to make amends for the fact we were paying for high quality food and service and received less than that by far. In fact, when our bill arrived, they had charged my husband for an entree that he ordered but they were out of , in addition to the entree he finally received. This had to be corrected as well. We do not expect perfection, but when significant mistakes are made, they should be addressed without the guest having to tell the team how to make it right. Overall; good safety check for Covid, great bread, food was good, service and staff quality somewhat lacking and that overshadowed the meal.
Wonder staff . Black bean burger was delicious. Sat outside and ordered a bottle of the “ 3 “pino noir which was fantastic. Overall lovely experience.

Have to say was impressed with My meal. I had the Chef's special salmon. Was excellent. Cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. Would definitely recommend it.
We had a great experience! My only thing was it took about 10 minutes for a server to greet us. Other than that, no complaints!
We enjoyed our dinner for the most part. The pimento cheese balls were amazing. We even tried to order a second plate, but they were out. I had a bowl with chicken and black beans etc and the sour cream was bad. Everything else was delicious. We did order a bottle of wine and were told they were sold out. Service was ok. Our server seemed to be in a big hurry and sure enough, she ended up leaving in the middle of our dinner. Hopefully everything was ok. The server who took over was great and attentive. As we were leaving we noticed several bottles of the wine we had been told they were out of on a shelf by the bar. Definitely were not happy about this. We would give Root and Barrel a second chance, as most everything we ordered was delicious and we know things happen.
We got chicken wings, which were served piping hot and they were very meaty. We also got a wedge salad, which was good.
Weve always enjoyed this restaurant but this time not so much. Several items on the menus that we asked for weren’t available. The crab cake was mushy and undercooked. These are hard times for the industry. We will try again when we are past COVID.
Loved the food, service was A1. If I am ever back in the area, I would definitely be back.
