Rooster's Wood-Fired Kitchen - Uptown Ratings and Reviews
We were a party of 6 for Pre-theater dinner. The was welcoming and prompt. Our table service was friendly and attentive. The menu was a bit hard to follow; our server was helpful to "navigate". The seating was a bit cramped and we were a little uncomfortable with the tight quarters. The food was good bit a bit pricey especially on some basics like pizza and a burger.
All in all. we enjoyed our meal and the energy of the restaurant. A very good experience and we would recommend Rooster's to our friends.
Our dinner club planned a night out for dinner, a hornets game and to celebrate a birthday in the group. We had early reservations and they were prepared for us. The food selection was wonderful along with the uniqueness. Everyone had great things to say about flavor and presentation. So that's 10 happy people for a great start to the evening.
We had dinner with another couple before going to the theater. Shannon was our server and she could not have been anymore pleasant. We had salmon, chicken and short ribs, with sides to share of mac&cheese, brussel sprouts, corn and au gratin potatos. Everything and I mean everything was wonderful. Can't wait to go back. Surely one of the best dinners we have had in Charlotte.
It was my husband s 43rd birthday and we had a waiter named Ricky that we had to keep chasing down by asking other waiters to retrieve him! We were trying to make a movie afterwards and we let him know this but it did not seem to matter to him. I told him it was my husbands birthday and he said great, that’s all! We have come for the past three years and always received a comp piece of cake for his birthday so I figured that you didn’t do it anymore so I asked the hostess and they told me that you still do and I informed him that our waiter was very uncatering to us. We enjoyed the food as always and loved the atmosphere! We will be back but will not be served by Ricky!
Very pleasant first time experience. Loved our cozy booth. Our server was wonderful and fully explained the menu. The entire serving team worked together to make sure that we had everything we needed. Food took a bit longer than expected to be served and we ended up having to skip dessert because we had theater tickets (it took 90 minutes to be served and eat appetizers and see main course). The food itself was good but a bit pricey for the quality. Still, a nice meal and we will return again.
We went to dinner here after reading some positive reviews. The atmosphere was cozy and was welcoming on a chilly evening. Our server was personable and took the time to explain some of the dishes and pointed out his favorites. I had the BBQ chicken and it was moist with a sweet bbq sauce that has a nice tang at the finish. I also had the Mac and cheese which was delicious as well. I really was looking forward to the coconut cake that was raved about in multiple reviews but sadly was not a favorite of mine. It was quite dense and a ton of coconut meat which is good it you like that but I wanted more cake to bite into. A matter of preference really. All in all it was a delicious experience and will definitely return when we are back in town.
Great location with a really nice atmospher. We went for nice dinner Saturday night family of 4. The food all tasted great but portions were small and overpriced. Our waiter was just OK, bit snooty and did nothing more than take food and drink orders...back waiter did everything else. Would definitely go back if I had money to burn. Prices - portions comparable to Ruth Chris Steak house.
We’re from Chicago & visited Roosters on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly with our reservation & Keith our server was very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the wood fired wings and they’re not to miss. Lots of smoky seasonings. Our party of 4 had the braised short ribs with grits & roasted beets, the gangarelli pasta with three-beast bolognese & broccoli, the hangar steak with au gratin potatoes, and salmon with mac ‘n cheese. All were delicious with wonderful flavors and nice portions. Keith was extremely attentive & we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. I’d definitely go back if I were a local. The restaurant is also very warm and welcoming upstairs with a bar downstairs for more casual dining. Thumbs up overall!
The service was good and the food was good as well. Location was perfect as we were going to the ballet and the restaurant is in the same building as the theater so we did not have to go outside. I would recommend the chicken, it was very good - a little too much sauce on it, but was still really good once I wiped some off. Lovely place as well, good prices but be careful it is all ala carte
Overall, great menu and drink items. The menu was a bit difficult to navigate, but the food was delicious! The lighting was weird - spot lights pointing directly down and into your face, which was annoying. Cool atmosphere. I️ would certainly go back again!
My biggest critique is that I feel the menu needs more explanation. The Creamery, the "meat" appetizers (it started with an "L") needed to be explained. I explained to our server that we had never been there but still felt lost when looking at the menu. It would have made our experience much more carefree.
We are so grateful to have found Rooster. The ambiance is lovely. We started with wine and olives. Then progressed to wonderful salads, the kale Caesar was great. Enjoyed the mushroom pizza, but the highlight of our meal was the French fries. Amazing! I would co. Back just for the fries, and the sticky toffee pudding-delightful 💗
We were in Charlotte for a college football game and wanted something special. Rooster’s gave us fabulous food, fun, and energy that went right with our weekend away activities. Everyone can find a menu item that will be their new favorite and gain a gem of a place to return to time and time again. My new favorite appetizer is the duck and my favorite entree is their scallops, a winner for any tastebud.
The food was excellent and had seasonal and year round choices that were very tasty. We had the charcuterie board, mussels and brisket burger and all were cooked perfectly and delicious. However our waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu and also treated us rather poorly (I guess b cause we weren’t in formal wear?).
I would recommend this restaurant for the food but not for the service.
We enjoyed our meal BUT they did not have salmon for my wife's order. She had to substitute the steak (good but a lot of butter). Something must have happened to the "fish man" as our waitress made a comment that maybe he had not arrived (this was after 6 PM on a Thursday). My order was flounder and it was good but a VERY small portion on the plate.
