Rooster's Wood-Fired Kitchen - Uptown Ratings and Reviews
Service was top notch. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and patient with us as we asked 100 questions. The mussels are not to be missed. The chicken is delicious, and those potatoes au gratin are nothing short of blessed. Will try the scallops next time. Delicious!
Great Lunch meeting at Roosters Downtown Charlotte……… the BBQ Meatloaf and Tomato Bisque were excellent and perfect for a chilly day. My friends also enjoyed their meals as “the clean plate club” was evident. Good atmosphere, Fun and attentive wait staff and a very enjoyable lunch.
I've always gotten takeout from Rooster's, and have never sat down until this time. We went for a coworker's birthday and had a strict timeline for our birthday hour lunch. The ambiance is rustic and eclectic.
The server was very nice and knowledgeable. We had an appetizer and all ordered separate entrees. The onion rings were delicious and delivered fast.
I ordered a quarter chicken and the tomato bisque. It was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The only downfall was there was six of us and we had to wait 20 minutes for separate checks. We did warn her beforehand. However, I chalk it off as a 1pm crazy time and she was confused but doing the best she could.
I will definitely come back!
We loved it!! From hosts until the end, food is fantastic, everything we got was shareable size, we got from appetizers the burrata that was just perfect (creamy and delicious add the pistachio glazed and perfection) the assorted mushrooms so creamy and rich, for entree 1/2 roast chicken and the duck nhoque. Brandy our waitress was super attentive and helpful
Excellent dinner with salmon, shrimp, and scallops we all shared. Mac and cheese, grits, and succotash were outstanding too. Can you tell we're southern and love our southern sides? First visit for 3 friends in town - not too loud, fun atmosphere, and the dinner was over the top for our taste buds! Can't wait to go back!
Was looking for a new restaurant in Uptown Charlotte and came across Roosters as a pre-theater option. What a find! Our server was amazing as he steered us through this first-time experience. My teenage daughters loved their choices (both pasta dishes) and my wife and I, after devouring a charcuterie plate, enjoyed ours as well. You can tell that the chef is employing farm-to-table cuisine and the use of delicious local ingredients confirms that. It's a vibrant scene with a great cocktail and wine list; one you don't want to miss!
The Hanger Steak...Stunningly good...must try!
We ate upstairs and the mood was quiet and we enjoyed seeing the cooking and prep around. Our time was limited and we were accommodated most excellently. All in all, a wonderful evening experience and a superb dinner!
Rooster’s is a unique wood-fired kitchen with a varied daily menu. Specials range from duck to grouper and more, but their BBQ chicken is always wonderful. There is the tasty wood-fired pizza for those who want a simpler fare. My favorites are on the extensive vegetable list- roasted beets, butter beans, and tons more. Large portions are great for sharing.
Love Roosters, they never disappoint. The food and ambiance was amazing. We always enjoy every part of the meal from apps right down to desserts. We were there for a birthday and the waiter was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Also got some birthday dessert. Would highly recommend both Rooster locations!!
We went to Roosters before the Symphony at Blumenthal. We always love Roosters. Their food is consistently great quality and the convenience of being able to walk across the crosswalk to the Belk Theater is ideal. Service was good but wish server had poured a taste of wine for my mom before pouring the whole glass. Food is somewhat overpriced for servings in my opinion but it's so delicious that we don't regret it! A wonderful meal at a family favorite restaurant.
This was a big disappointment. Since it was one of the Noble’s family of restaurants, it would be very good, but we were completely underwhelmed.
Ambience & facility: the booth we sat at was so cramped we could hardly breath. I understand they want to pack in tables, but there simply was no room to move. It was fairly noisy but we could still easily carry on a conversation.
Service: the wait staff were all very friendly, but like many American restaurants, they are not being trained properly. When it is clear we weren’t in a rush, they didn’t need to show up at our table every 3 -5 minutes to ask us if we were ready to order. It was irritating!! When we did order the appetizer, it came quickly. Shortly thereafter, we ordered our main course. However, they brought our mains well before we finished our appetizer. That is just incredibly lame. On top of that, since there was no extra room on the table, it became even more uncomfortable. We wanted to finish our appetizer (charcuterie board), but they drove us crazy trying to remove it so we would have more room. What they COULD have offered was to move what was left to a smaller board.
The food: The charcuterie board was okay but came with small pieces of bread which could only be described as chewy cardboard. Unbelievable that they would serve that. Luckily, we had enough complimentary bread that we could use instead. The mains were all “okay”. We had 4different once’s, and everyone had the same experience. The mains were all over salted, but at the same time, the flavors were non-descript and could best be described as “blandly salty”.
I will certainly never come back.
The calamari and spicy wings were both excellent. The duck breast was very good.
The only negative was that the menu is not real clear. They've tried to get fancy with a page of 'chef recommendations' and then another page for the dinner menu when both pages are basically the same headings (heading like: from the garden, from the larder, from the kitchen, from the oven, from the pasture, etc).
Still, with that one caveat, it was a great place to eat.
Great ambiance & loved the décor. Simple but cool. Menu was a bit excessive & cumbersome to look at - but our waiter handled explanations very well & made it very workable.
Beverage options were very good.
Meals all around were tasty & presented well.
Love the Charlotte downtown - hope to be back!
