Private Dining

Roost is not even open anymore except for private events. So, well done on sending me a survey when I didn’t even get to go. I had a reservation and was not informed by Open Table nor by the restaurant itself. I called Roost myself to reconfirm a few days prior and was told they only do private events now. When I asked why I was not informed, the person I was speaking too was not all apologetic and was dismissive. They said, “Um, well, I mean we thought that Open Table was reaching out about reservations but...umm... I guess not, so..”
Roost was a great restaurant and we loved going there. I do not like Revel, it’s not the same ambiance for a nice dinner, it’s a bar with TVs on. Very disappointing.
Roost: Horrible job on your employees phone/communication skills.
Open Table: Maybe not your fault as it seems Roost isn’t doing their part but disappointing that I thought I had a reservation when I didn’t.
The experience at Roost far exceeded our expectations! Although it was a Monday evening and the restaurant (as most in Pittsburgh) had few diners, we were treated to an almost private setting with perfect attentive service provided by Ryan. The menu and wine list is perfectly focused for great pairings and my wife and I both went for the Double Chop which was unbelievable... perfectly cooked and delivered with a Heitz Cellars 2014 Cab pairing. My appetizer was the Burrata Board which was a perfect prelude to the entree. The mellow jazz background music and window seating made it an excellent evening out with my wife. Note: be prepared-the double chop is a lot of food, but oh so good. We look forward to dining here again and eating our way through the menu!
A friend and I had an excellent dinner at Roost. Our server Bob was very attentive and answered any questions we had about any menu items offered. We will definitely be back.
We were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant was not busy so service was great! The food was very delicious!
Drinks and food were great! We had a martini and margarita. We tried the scallop appetizer, octopus and tuna. All were good. A bit pricey. Server was helpful with suggestions
Roost has become my favorite restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh.
The cuisine is excellent. The service is very professional. Our waiter, Bob, is always a true gentleman. The decor is unique, and there's an excellent view of Forbes Avenue below.
While more patrons head to Revel on the ground floor, Roost is very pleasant and much quieter. Roost really is a true Pittsburgh gem. Highly recommended!

We went for dinner last night before a show. The atmosphere is beautiful and Bob our server was very friendly and attentive. The food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend Roost!
Roost offers a great view if you're lucky enough to get a table by the window. The food and service are always excellent, as well. I would caution anyone that is pinched for time, though. The food does not come quickly here. If you have plenty of time, relax and enjoy this gem. It's worth the wait!
Our waiter Bob helped make the experience second to none, but even without that added benefit we would have recommended Roost to anyone with tastebuds. The food was outstanding, perfectly prepared and presented. Loved the scallops so much we went back the next evening for apps and drinks, just to have the scallops again! Definitely going back again.
We came here before a Liberty Magic show due to the location. Apparently we were early because the bar/restaurant downstairs was packed but we were the only ones on the upper level. Service was excellent (we were the only table), we both got the steak option. Really excellent experience, we will definitely be back.
The food was fabulous. The noise level is high but enjoyed our meals enough not to let that deter us from going back
It’s always a pleasure dining here. The food was superb!! Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly
We were the only ones in the restaurant. The host took a while to see us and sit us. The server, Bob, was really good. Very honest and helped us choose our meals. The food was very good, but not outstanding. I had the pork chop, which was very well prepared and well
seasoned however the side dishes were just Ok. The ambiance was great, very pretty modern look.
Celebrating a new job with family- quiet atmosphere, rustic yet upscale, great presentation, interesting signature cocktails
This was my second outing at Roost and it was another enjoyable experience. I had the steak and shrimp combo. It was very tasty and the appropriate size. We went before the theater and received our meals in a timely fashion.
The Revel & Roost joint website is odd. It seemed like Revel is ONLY open for breakfast and brunch, but when we got to the restaurant, both parts were open. (Looking at their website more closely, I found their dinner, but the way they advertise it on the main page is odd.) We hope to try Revel at some point.
Roost had very good food and a bunch of things I wanted to try, though their menu was pretty limited. Roost has no happy hour drink specials, so if you want one of those, stop in Revel downstairs first. Roost was also fairly empty, so we didn't really need a reservation, but I like to make them to be safe if they take reservations.
The dish I was most interested in (scallops) had a lot I didn't like (I tried it, since my friend got it and I'm glad I skipped it, since I'm not a fan of peppers), but they have a scallop appetizer I'd like to get next time. The dinner also came with some delicious bread and dipping sauces/spreads. There was a LOT of food, so an appetizer wasn't necessary. I ate all the best stuff from my meal, but couldn't have possibly finished my meal after sharing the appetizer. Very good service and food. I'd definitely recommend it & look forward to trying Revel.
My wife and I celebrated our 36th anniversary on Saturday night at Roost. We were delighted by the friendly and excellent service. Our dinners were superb and it was a wonderful start to a beautiful evening with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Our waiter was very kind and attentive and he made our evening very special. We were very pleased to have our very special anniversary dinner at Roost and we look forward to returning for dinner soon. Thank you Roost! All of your employees are very kind and welcoming! We also love the ambiance of Roost!
The service was top-notch. The food was good, but not quite 5 star. Our favorite was our appetizer (the burrata). The atmosphere is nice, and they validate parking.
This was hands down one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Filet with crab meat came out and the crab was from a can and smelled like cat food. The mashed potatoes were cold and grainy. The pork chops tasted good but everything else on the plate really was not edible, same with the sides with the filet. The server was nice and truthful about the crab coming from a can, which was nice. I’d say skip it.
We stopped in for drinks and appetizers. Food was a little on the colder side (ordered hot apps), nothing to complain about, but not as hot as we would expect directly from the kitchen. Drinks were great. Server was attentive and polite. Cheddar biscuits were delicious! Expected it to be more busy on a Saturday night, but it wasn’t even half full.
We were there mid-week for dinner and it was very quiet, but the food and the service were excellent. Scallops were outstanding and cooked perfectly. Appetizers were great too--burnt ends especially.
The apps were great. The main dishes were disappointing. We will not be in a rush to return.
We had an excellent server who made sure to accomodate a dietary restriction. The chef did an excellent job adjusting the food we ordered. It was delicious.
Waitress was awesome! Food was good! Enjoyed the time with my mother. Had chicken and waffles ...being from ALABAMA had to give it a shot! Not too bad!!
Mother’s Day brunch
food was good and the service was great , my wife had a nice time at the mothers day brunch.
Nice place, good service, but the food was mediocre at best. Brie infused polenta was dry, cold, and so tasteless we had to request salt and pepper.
I had fairly high expectations for this restaurant, having read the reviews on OpenTable, but was in the end disappointed. The appetizers were very tasty but all of the main courses that we ordered were disappointing: the lamb was overcooked, the chicken was too salty, the salmon was a bit dry, and so forth.
I don't think I'll be back.
This was my first time to Revel. My friend and I both ordered burgers and fries...outstanding! Our sever was also fantastic. This place is definitely a must try.
The food was great. Steak cooked exactly how I like it. The scallops appetizer also great and the waitress was very helpful and nice and made the experience as well. Nice view of the area through the windows.
Also stopped at revel before our reservations were up and that atmosphere was also great.
Scallops appetizer was perfect with a touch of honey. Everything we ordered was great and service was excellent.
Waitress could not tell the difference between Chardonnay and piano noir. Menu was limited expensive and food was sub-par
Dissatisfy disappointing and avoid
It took forever to get a drink when we sat down. Appetizers and our meals took even longer. I felt like we were forgotten. The food was ok. I’ve been here a few times because it’s close for work and had a lunch or dinner but I wouldn’t recommend bc the food and service isn’t usually great
Great food great service wonderful experience
We had a great celebratory meal there. Everything we had was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service was great as well.
Better than expected! Their monthly special menu is great.
Had an early dinner to get the 1000 points. Restaurant was very quiet and the food was great!
Wonderful atmosphere! Creative entrees. Double cut pork chop fantastic. Vegan mushroom dish and catfish were just ok. Salads were tasty but too big as a side. All 3 desserts were ordered were excellent. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful. Overall a good choice.
Birthday dinner. Was very nice. Ordered filet medium rare. Wife’s was slightly under cooked. Mine was perfect. Waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was what you would expect for a downtown fine dining restaurant. Nice bathrooms. Nice staff.
This was our second trip to Roost. I think it was even better this time. They definitely improved their salads. My salmon was delicious. The only downside was that there was a limited selection of side dishes. Service was excellent. We look forward to returning for dinner again soon.
