If there was one place I wanted to dine before the governor shut down all restaurants, it’s Roost. The Heritage pork chop might be favorite meal in the state of Ohio. I am glad that I was able to eat here on the eve of Coronavirus shutting down all restaurants, and sad that I won’t get the experience anytime soon.
I was surprised by the EXTREMELY over salted pasta, which was replaced. No properly manage kitchen should have allowed it to be served. But overall it was nice. Tempurature was on the chilly side next to the window, my mistake
We had a table in the patio area which was very noisy. Food was great and service was good but a little slow. Will go again but ask for a table in a more quiet area.
First time to dine there. Will certainly return. Excellent experience.
I would recommend someone trying it, but nothing great! I’ve had better!
Excellent experience! Great place for diner with family to a first date.
This place was great. Local chef who makes entrees that you don’t see everywhere else. Really appreciated the quality of food, and level of service. Our waitress was amazing, I forget her name but was one of the best servers we have ever had.
Roost offers a very good menu and the food is delicious, but the ambiance is beyond poor. Why in the world would you force your diners into such a small room where the noise has no where to go- my friends and I had to shout to one another to carry on a conversation. My voice was hoarse by the end of the evening. And then there's the lighting issue- OMG! the room is so dark that you cannot read the menu- come on! We had to pull our phone flashlights out to see the menu- really? Put some lighting in the room so people can see your menu- isn't that your chief selling proposition as a restaurant? Don't you want your customer to see it? Roost- please make some much-needed changes to your restaurant asap! We so enjoy your food, but it is not a pleasurable dining experience to eat at your restaurant.
Good food but definitely overpriced.
Great dinner. Loved the menu. The risotto balls were great to start. Mushroom ravioli fantastic. Filet looked to be a winner.
Always great and delish
Great experience! Brooke, our waitress, was friendly & professional. Another staff member (I think it was Brooke’s husband) went the extra mile to track down a song title for a song that had played earlier.
Very poor altogether. The people behind us came after us and we’re finished before we got our food (after we had to send it back because everything was cold). The server was not nice about the issues we had, and the bar bills were both still wrong and she wouldn’t change them.
We used to love this place. It’s really gone downhill.
The service is excellent and not intrusive. The menu is al carte but offers entrees with a side or two. The goat cheese board is worth the cost. It is creamy and baked perfectly. Nice seeded crackers and honeycomb and strawberry jam adding a nice flavor. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and the pork chop was great. Highly recommend.
We had plastic in our order of spaghetti, and the server just asked if we wanted another order of it? No thank you. She also kept telling us that you were all out of things. Like the cheese board, she said you didn’t have any left and then all of a sudden there was one left, then it happened again with desert....there wasn’t any crème brûlée left and then she comes back with 2 orders of it. Very weird. Bad first impression
Had a bad dish with the scallops- tasted like bleach and then I got immediately sick after. Pork chop was awesome. Crem brûlée also awesome. Chef reached out via open table and offered to make it right which was appreciated
Excellent food . Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Took a little long for the food to be prepared but quality was exceptional!
Cool, modern interior. Best food in Dayton. The quality could compete in any city. The warm mushroom salad was delicious. The pork chop was sincerely the best I have ever eaten.
This was our first experience at Roost and we very much enjoyed it! The goat cheese board was phenomenal, the drinks were delicious, and my fiancé’s Milanese chicken was fresh and tasty. I would like to comment on my swordfish, however. It came to me luke warm, which was a disappointment. We notified the server of this who offered to return it to be reheated- but, I know once this is done the food wouldn’t be the same and possibly worse. So, I opted to continue eating my luke warm meal. I would like to state that it was tasteful, but not to the standards as I would expect for this type of restaurant. I guess moral of the story would be not to order a chicken dish and a fish dish at the same meal, maybe prep time had something to play into it. Overall, it was a good experience.
Server was great and very friendly and checking enough but not too much on our needs...food was delicious...salmon as main course and scallops appetizer; both fantastic! Will be back and will recommend to anyone...
We were the first ones to the restaurant a little before 5 PM. They sat us at the table next to an exterior wall. My guests had to wear their winter coat the whole entire time and left them disappointed.
I know for sure that they put hundreds of thousands of dollars in renovations but they should’ve taken care of the older part of the restaurant when they did the new renovations.
This was one of the best meals of my life.
Food was stellar. Filet and pork chop Brussels sprouts goat cheese polenta garlic bread wine! It was all delicious! Service was great and ambiance was on point. It was perfect for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner
Meh. Not exactly what I would’ve expected from all the reviews I’ve seen. The service was good, but the food was so-so for what I paid and there was absolutely no privacy with the tables being as close to one another as they were. If I wanted that kind of experience I would’ve gone to Cheesecake Factory and saved some money. Not at all worth the prices...
Family from out of town came in and we wanted to take him somewhere we enjoy. Plus it was Valentine’s Day.
Fast friendly service! We brought our 3 kiddos which is probably not the norm, but everyone was super nice and accommodating!
Wonderful dinner as always. Loved the goat cheese appetizer.
Food was excellent. Great service. Love this place.
We waited forever to get refills on our wine glasses that stayed empty most the time. The food came out very cold. My filet was very overcooked and the chef told me she disagreed well I just had went to flemings two weekends before and ordered medium filet there as well. They were about 3 stages away from each other. So someone is not correct. My boyfriends swordfish was tasteless. We had 125 dollar gift card. We both left starving but told them to keep the whole giftcard we would not be returning.
Our server was exceptional. Our food was prepared perfectly. Great experience. Recommend highly
Service was good, our waiter was very nice. We sat next to a window that during warm weather could probably be opened. In February it was almost uncomfortable. The food was good. My husbands dinner was almost cold. Not sure why the other two dinners were warm but could have been warmer. My husband did mention to the waiter that his dinner was cool. The waiter apologized and offered to fix the problem. My husband declined. We were offered a dessert, got chocolate cake to go.
Overall a nice dinner.
Very sad that roost is no longer on open table and that they now charge $10 per person just to make a reservation. We won’t be back.
Great value for the money with the restaurant week menu. The ambiance of the building adds to the overall effect.
There for Winter Restaurant Week - everything was fine except felt it was too expensive for type and quantity of food received. Chose the most expensive option ($34.20), and the entree had only 2 scallops with a large portion of noodles, no vegetables. Flavor was excellent, but should have had at least one more scallop and some vegetable for the price. The onion soup came in a very small, squatty jar (smaller than 3" square, 1.25" high), filled largely with onions, a small amount of broth and very little cheese. Bomba spumoni ice cream dessert was excellent. Service was excellent.
Great atmosphere, good food and drinks!
Service and food was great!!!!
Very nice evening spent with family. Excellent and attentive service. Delicious dinner. We will return. It’s on the pricey side since salad and sides are a la carte but they were worth it.
The food was amazing. My sister who has been to Italy said her pasta was as good as some she ate in Italy. Service was amazing and the restaurant has that cozy feeling that keeps you coming back.
Excellent food and service as always! Thanks for a wonderful evening!
We went to Roost to celebrate my daughter's 24th birthday. Excellent service by Matthew!
Our food, wine and desserts were incredible. Very nice experience for our celebration.
