Roo's Leap Montrose
The Down-Under Dining Experience!
Roo’s Leap Restaurant already has a great reputation… fresh ingredients cooked to order, and a friendly efficient service with a laid back Aussie attitude.Whether you’re looking for a great night out or you just can’t be bothered cooking, we’re sure we’ll have just what you’re looking for.

We also have a number of vegetarian options. Our menu has over 50 dishes to choose from!

Our second breakfast booking at Roos Leap. Such a lovely friendly service whilst remaining very Covid-safe. The food quality was amazing and we had endless filter coffee which was offered regularly. Really could not fault the whole experience.
Always a pleasure and very attentive staff. Great atmosphere!
Bonzer!! Always a great experience
We decided to go for Mexican. It wasn’t great. I didn’t see one jalapeño on a dish that was supposed to have them. Not much chicken either! Padded out with lots of salad. Very cheap to assemble and charged top dollar! Tbh it’s unlikely that we will go back. At best 7/10 was the rating from our group. Roos leap is a bit over rated!
Lovely lunch out with my Mum yesterday - we each opted for a burger (Mum opting for an Aussie and me a Dirty Spaniard) followed up with 2 scoops of ice cream each (pistachio and walnut caramel for Mum, white chocolate and Belgium caramel biscuit for me!).
Seen as I was having a day off driving, we chose to have some cocktails and what a selection Roos offers - Mum chose to have a wine cooler and pornstar martini and me a bramble and mojito.
Staff were very attentive throughout our visit
This was our first visit to Roo’s having heard great reviews about it. We ordered from the lunch menu but not all options had a description about what was included. We ordered a chicken burger which came with mushrooms and cheese but this wouldn’t have been asked for if the ingredients were known beforehand. Our children ordered from the children’s menu and we were astonished to find that our daughters burger was the size of an adults portion but we had to pay extra for chips which came with hers as standard. With that said the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Great cocktails and food but we made it clear on our online booking and when we arrived that we were in for drinks and nibbles only but we had several staff ask us every 5-10 minutes for the first hour what food we were ordering.
We ordered a plate of nachos to share about 8.50 which were yummy.
Staff need to back off a little!
First time here at Roos Leap with young children. Service extremely efficient and friendly. The food was excellent quality too. Thank you for a super experience.
Our party of 2 booked for lunch at Roos Leap, Montrose on 20/01/2022. Found staff to be very polite and attentive. Ordered Pulled Pork Sandwich and The Dirty Spaniard Burger from the main menu. Food delicious and cooked to perfection. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and would not hesitate to recommend and return.
As always the food was excellent as was the service as well. Highly recommended. We were there for breakfast and will need to go again to try more of the menu
Consistently good food with very large portions.
We had a business lunch at Roo's Leap with someone who hasn't been before so decided to them to Roo's as its the go to Restaurant in Montrose.
As always there were plenty of people in there and the atmosphere was good.
The service was decent but we were tucked away at the back so the waitress didn't always see when we were needing more drinks etc...
The food was tasty as always but the place has gotten way too expensive, I was £15.95 for a Thai Chicken Salad and i'm sure it was the same price for a chicken burger., the starters were all over the £7 mark also.
I would recommend taking a couple of quid off the main meals - You make enough on the drinks prices already....
Great food, me and my partner had the Fajita Wednesday deal, excellent value for money. Will be back
We went for the fajitas Wednesday, which is nachos and fajitas for 2 for £20
Great value for money and a bonus for those not driving they have margaritas for £6.
Will definitely be back
Our table was not ready for us when we arrived so we had to wait 10 mins. Some of the menu wasn’t available and not a massive choice on the menu. There was an error with 1 of the orders.
The food was mediocre. The restaurant was not not as good as I remember it.
Staff were pleasant.
This visit was a bit of a family treat and as per usual the service and food was of a high standard
The noise level when we visited was beyond acceptable levels. Saying it was noisy would be an understatement. Made it very difficult to hear a word that the waiter was saying to me.
We very nearly left before taking our jackets off as it was also very busy. However we were put in a window seat out of the way and stayed.
Food was very good, finally mastered making chips!!
I know it's difficult times for all just now, but service could definitely be quicker, and their is no need for the noise levels to be so terrible.
No doubt we'll be back, as the food is always decent. A solid 4 stars.
Amazing food as usual, no complaints whatsoever! Only really small thing was it was a tad chilly where we were sitting. Will always come back to Roos, best place in the town
Nice place to take our grandchildren, comfortable friendly atmosphere. A bit expensive but food enjoyed by all.
Excellent gluten free menu with lots of options! Food and service was great would highly recommend.
Great place to visit, plenty of choices, and excellent value for money.
As usual a delicious meal at Roos Leap. Friendy quick service too.
Long term customer, however menu heavily reduced and won’t be back for a while. Mainly due to the price structure. Front line staff perfect as usual.
The best food with so much choice and variety. Wish we lived closer!
Over the past 6 months, the standard of food has declined but the prices have increased. Would alway recommend but now I am not so sure I would. Limited selection on menu and very poor standard when received.
Our waiter was very helpful serving drinks in two lots as we arrived before family. He was also very helpful with the children waiting for them to order and listening carefully. The food was so good and the children ate everything (joey chicken burger and joey ribs). The steak Santa Fe Wrap, Dirty Spaniard and Mississippi burgers were very worth trying. Not filled after the above we had lovely sweets of pavlova, cheesecake and chocolate brownie with ice cream. It was a very enjoyable family visit.
Could not recommend more, our server made sure we had everything we needed and nothing was a trouble. Food was excellent also, will definately be back.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our Hogmanay meal at Roo’s leap.
Great food & service.
Thank you again. Here’s wishing you all a very Happy New Year. x
Had a family meal for Hogmanay. Was delighted that the potato skins were back on the menu for starters. Cracking meal. Hard to beat for quality food.
Noisy due to parties in adjacent area, not the fault of restaurant
It may be beneficial to cater for parties/large groups in separate area from couples/ small groups of friends wishing to chat.
Great service, choice & a nice buzz to the Restaurant. Very clean & staff very polite & helpful.
First visit to Montrose so would go to this Restaurant again as & when we make a return visit.
Make sure you're hungry! Huge portions of absolutely delicious barbie food - excellent service and lovely setting. Highly recommend dirty Spaniard burger and haloumi fries. Main menu seemed expensive at £15 for burger and fries but it is so worth it and they'll happily give you a Box for anything you can't manage so you're almost getting 2 meals in one! Well definitely be back.
Great attentive service from the second arrived.
Food just immense in size and flavour.
Looking forward to returning.
Draught soft drinks were returned twice due to no flavour, part of our order was missed and we were almost finished by the time it came to the table.
Superb food and willingness to make something not on lunch menu. Service was excellent and the interior is very clean and inviting.
Great food, great value and service to match both, what more could you want.
Cocktails are very good as an added bonus.
Lovely food slightly on the pricey side but enjoyed it all
We had a lovely Family meal 9 of us on Christmas Eve , the food was outstanding the Service was excellent . Love the Roos its my favourite place to eat
Fantastic food as usual. All the servers were attentive and friendly.
Experience was brilliant as usual. We all felt safe and well looked after. Thank you
