We went here for a late Valentine's dinner. We enjoy the food and the atmosphere and it didn't disappoint this time, either. We did the tasting menu, but after i tasted my duck confit risotto, i found myself wishing i'd ordered a bucket of it. That good. I enjoyed the other dishes, but that was memorably good. My companion had bass and loved it. There are nice selections in wine by the glass. The service is always friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was full most of the time we were there. We like the atmosphere. You can actually have a conversation with other people. Parking is on-street and can be a challenge, so keep that in mind.
The service that we have EVERY TIME is amazing. We were an hour early for our reservation and sat at the bar and devoured the charcuterie plate. It ws so delicious. Perfect timing and we were seated for dinner which was spectacular. We have had David serve us many times. He is so well informed about the wines and we always learn something new. The entire staff is welcoming and courteous.
The food and staff at Room 39 are beyond wonderful. Cannot say enough about that place! ♥️
The food was outstanding, with just the right amount of time between courses. My date and I had reservations, but we still had to wait a little bit for an open table. We then waited at the bar, and took almost 10 minutes to be noticed by the bartender. It was obvious they were really busy on Valentine's Day, but I think a little more could have been done to be more responsive to us. Overall though, a truly wonderful meal.
Great food and unobtrusive service- perfect combo!
Amazing food, drinks, and waiters.
Great laid back spot for lunch, but also a wonderful white table cloth spot for a romantic dinner. I have yet to order anything I haven't loved (I frequent them a lot!).
The Tasting Menu was delicious and had wonderful creatively prepared options. Excellent!
This is one of the best restaurants in Kansas City. The selection is great and the atmosphere feels like a French café. Not pretentious and very accessible to the palate. A consistent quality experience every time.
This place was good, but it left me wanting something more. I expected better food. I got the Local Bass which was very fishy. The beans in the kale mix were not done enough and a little crunchy. The Jalapeno sauce was really good though. The place was extremely loud and I would not recommend if you want to go to have a quiet dinner. All in all, I wanted a cheeseburger when I left.
Delicious Food. Warm Hearted Service! :-)
Great service, personable and helpful. Good recommendations on food and wine. Presentation and originality of dishes was outstanding. Good selection. Incredible range of wines. Lot of local spirits. Knowledgeable bartender. Top choice for KC.
Room 39 is my favorite restaurant. Love this place! Feels like a second home. I highly recommend the quiche for brunch, and my fried trout at dinner was amazing!
I love eating creatively prepared dishes that aren't different for the sake of being different. My meal at Room 39 was delicious, beautiful, and full of great complementary flavors. The service was friendly and at just the right level of attentiveness.
We went for breakfast-did have a 9:00 reservation on Saturday. Did not need reservation but by 9:20 seating which is limited was filling up. Great service. Unique breakfast choices including the standards. Pricing from 8 to 9 to 14. The physical surroundings appeared to be very clean. The staff were very friendly and had their act together. Note the servings appear to be quite large- I ordered the croc madame -(misspelled !) very good but a lot of food,my wife had the baked eggs on a special bread with cheese and a special sausage. Most breakfast entries include potatoes.
The menu for lunch and dinner looks exciting and we will return!
We love Room39, unfortunately this was not a great experience. I'm hoping it was because it was Restaurant week and things were more hectic than normal. My husband and I go here about once a month and get the same things just about every time. We love the shrimp bisque but this time it was not good and we both did not barely eat any of what we were served. We then had the Bolognese and while the sauce was great, the past was extremely underdone. We love al dente pasta but this was just plain not cooked at all. My husband had the wagyu and I had the pork chop, they were ok. We hadn't had those before so we couldn't compare them but I think I prefer the duck to what either of us had that night. We also usually have such a great server and the lady we had this time was nice just not personal at all and we missed that.
With all that said, we will go back. We truly love dining there an I am going to chalk up this one negative experience to it just being an overly hectic restaurant week. They have such a great atmosphere and the food is usually very amazing especially for the cost.
Once again, Room 39 did not disappoint! I was so pleased to share this special place with my sister and niece. We flew from Oregon to have a 'girls' weekend in KC and Room 39 was the only reservation we made. It was the one place I knew we HAD to go. David, our waiter was wonderful and despite being extremely busy made time to make us feel special. (Thank you!) I'll be back again (as always) in November for the annual WSA convention. It's become a tradition for my customers and I - Friday night at Room 39.
We were a party of 3 for Restaurant Week. The soup and desserts we chose were wonderful and service was too--especially on such a busy night. We each chose one of the three entres offered. The fish and beef dishes were excellent (I tried bites of both) but the vegetarian flatbread was tough and scarcely covered by the vegetables. So disapppointing. I made the poor choice that night.
My wife and I have both dined at this restaurant in the past. Our current visit happened to coincide with restaurant week, however we were not dining there specifically for that reason. I felt that the ambience was outstanding. This is one of the high points of the restaurant. The wine selection is excellent. The food selections were very good as well. I wish that they had more vegetarian options , as well as saltwater fish options, but other than that, our dining experience was terrific, and one of the best dining experience weeks we’ve had thus far this year. This restaurant is in our freezer rotation and will continue to be Sue. We would also definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an elevated dining experience.
We went in for restaurant week and the food was so delicious! Our server was awesome too! Will be back ASAP for the food and service.
My friend & I went to Room 39 for KC Restaurant week. I'd heard good things about the menu from friends and we were not disappointed!! Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and didn't let our drinks get empty. I had the mussels, Swordfish & apple struedel which was all amazing. I have already told a few friends how amazing it was!
Great cocktails and great food. Loved the small dining area and setting. Will go back.
Always a great dinner service with excellent food and and well composed dishes.
I ordered the quiche and they brought me the wrong kind. They fixed this which was good but then it came out cold.
We loved Room 39! They have the best food and excellent service. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
A true KC gem! Always impressed. Food and wine list top notch. Thanks David.
Food was fabulous as always.Ruby is an excellent server:)
This is such a cozy, quaint place for a delicious memorable meal. Anna, our server, was absolutely charming and took care of our every need. She made excellent recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Room 39 Midtown!
My wife and I both tried the 4 course meal, and love it! Food was spectacular, and the service was phenomenal!
Good food as always, and our waitress was awesome! What more could you ask for.
