Room 39 - Leawood Ratings and Reviews
It was my sons birthday and he asked for a burger. They said he could only order it from the bar (he is a minor) because it would cause too much stress on the kitchen to go off menu. Why would where he is sitting have an impact on the stress of the kitchen. The nonsense response and pretentious demeanor of the waitress was disappointing. Then the food was absolutely gross. Literally just fat and a bone swimming in au jus on top of polenta. She wasn't even concerned that the meal remained untouched and never once asked if it was acceptable.
Birthday get together with great friends and the food was wonderful! We all shared a bit of each other’s lunch to “ohhhh that’s good!”
This is early January but it was a hoot to see 3/4 of the Saturday lunch crowd with packages and gifts being exchanged. Many extended holiday celebrations and Room 39 was the place for making it special!
Best meal I have had in a long time. Every course was really delicious and was just the right portion size. I travel and take clients out for nice dinners throughout North America, and this dinner was probably my favorite of the year. My husband and I decided to eat out at the last minute (on our way to a party), and we were so glad we did. Thanks Room39 Leawood!
This restaurant usually has excellent food and wonderful servers. My last experience, though, was disappointing, food-wise. Although the server was sweet, the Steak & Eggs Benedict sauce was overly vinegary and the steak was burned. (Hollandaise sauce is supposed to be made with lemon juice.) Vinegar and burn ... not the greatest tastes for my big breakfast "splurge"! Sad times.
A little underwhelming.
We started with drinks and the charcuterie, it was great and set the bar for our expectations. My wife had the braised beef ribs. The ribs were good, but the polenta had a weird slightly off texture. My wife loves polenta, and it says a lot to me that she didn't finish it.
I had the pork chop, and I was very confused when it came out and was basically a small salad spread out in a bowl with strips of under seasoned pork chop in it.
Service was good, and I liked the space.
When things work well this restaurant is a true delight. Unfortunately, sometimes things don't go according to plan -- and the memory is less than optimal. This was one of those times. We love the tasting. The food was great. It would have been even better if we received what we ordered for dessert.
We had a wonderful dinner at Room 39. Locally sourced food, menu changes frequently based on availability, very comfortable service, all presented in a unpretentious manner. We have been there twice and if is our of our new favorite places. Try the chicken liver appetizer. Wonderful!!
I'd been here maybe once with friends a long time ago; don't remember much about that time. But, I'll remember this visit for Sunday brunch - excellent food and service. I really like the entire vibe of the restaurant, servers and the menu choices. Our party all had coffee (really good here) and the following: smoked salmon scramble, steak and eggs benedict, avocado toast and coq au vin. Everything tasted very good, we were not rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We'll all be back for more Sunday brunches!
My husband and I went to Room 39 recently; we did NOT enjoy our dinner at all!!! My lobster pasta was not good (I don't think it was really lobster). My husband ordered the pork chop. He could only eat half of it because it was so full of fat and gristle. It was served on a bed of mustard greens and kale (very bitter). We will not be returning to this venue.
