Room 39 - Leawood Ratings and Reviews
A little underwhelming.
We started with drinks and the charcuterie, it was great and set the bar for our expectations. My wife had the braised beef ribs. The ribs were good, but the polenta had a weird slightly off texture. My wife loves polenta, and it says a lot to me that she didn't finish it.
I had the pork chop, and I was very confused when it came out and was basically a small salad spread out in a bowl with strips of under seasoned pork chop in it.
Service was good, and I liked the space.
When things work well this restaurant is a true delight. Unfortunately, sometimes things don't go according to plan -- and the memory is less than optimal. This was one of those times. We love the tasting. The food was great. It would have been even better if we received what we ordered for dessert.
We had a wonderful dinner at Room 39. Locally sourced food, menu changes frequently based on availability, very comfortable service, all presented in a unpretentious manner. We have been there twice and if is our of our new favorite places. Try the chicken liver appetizer. Wonderful!!
I'd been here maybe once with friends a long time ago; don't remember much about that time. But, I'll remember this visit for Sunday brunch - excellent food and service. I really like the entire vibe of the restaurant, servers and the menu choices. Our party all had coffee (really good here) and the following: smoked salmon scramble, steak and eggs benedict, avocado toast and coq au vin. Everything tasted very good, we were not rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We'll all be back for more Sunday brunches!
My husband and I went to Room 39 recently; we did NOT enjoy our dinner at all!!! My lobster pasta was not good (I don't think it was really lobster). My husband ordered the pork chop. He could only eat half of it because it was so full of fat and gristle. It was served on a bed of mustard greens and kale (very bitter). We will not be returning to this venue.
The positives : Great cocktails. The fresh bread was great, and the marinated olives were flavorful, tender, and well-balanced. The baked ricotta was delicious. Service was attentive and pleasant.
The negatives - the mains. The steak was charred on the outside but cooked well inside. It was pretty flavorless. The lobster spaghetti was also pretty flavorless. There wasn’t enough sauce for the amount of pasta. Everything was under salted, which isn’t necessarily as issue, but they didn’t compensate with herbs and spices. I honestly cook better food at home. For a $130 meal after tax and tip, we were really disappointed. We won’t be back.
Had a delicious dinner that began with a chilled beet salad, a baked risotto appetizer, and trout. We finished with a coffee flourless chocolate cake accompanied by cinnamon ice cream!!!
Menu changes frequently as they try to use local producers.
Our server, Ashley, is amazing.
She is the perfect combination of attentive service, knowledgeable about the menu and anticipates your requests.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
Wonderful brunch. A little loud sitting in booth on barside with coffee grinder machine. Friendly server. When reservation was made on OT I indicated it was for a birthday, but no one said anything about it at venue. The overall first time experience was pleasant.
I was so pleasently surprised by the quality of the food. We both did the tasting menu. I added the wine pairing. My date had beer. We each ordered different things for each of the 4 courses and shared as we went. We were both so full that we had to take dessert home and our server even packed the homemade ice cream! Great meal for two foodies and our server was the best!
We had a great dinner celebrating our anniversary. The beet salad, lobster pasta and the pumpkin cake were delicious. We were greeted with glasses of sparkling wine and well wishes for our anniversary. Service with Ashley was great. We look forward to returning for another great dinner.
Room 39 is one of our favorite restaurants in Leawood / Overland Park. We have never been dissatisfied with a meal at Room 39. The food is always excellent and the service is well above average. I highly recommend the restaurant for excellent and relaxed dining.
This was a hugely expensive &
disappointing experience. I selected this restaurant for a business meal with 5 others to entertain a corporate business client from out of town with world wide restaurant experience. The restaurant was NOT busy during our meal there; in fact, never were more than 1/3 of the total tables occupied.
One of our guests was 10 minutes late for our 6:30 reservation, but it was well after 7:00 before anyone asked us for drink orders or even served us water. We ordered two of the cheese & meat appetizers which came with an olive assortment; one small bowl of olives was brought 15 minutes later without apology or explanation. The waitress seemed distracted & "non-engaged". One guest asked her if there was a special entree "of the day" not listed on the menu which necessitated she "check about that", which required 15 minutes to provide follow-up. The field greens salad, selected by five of us, was served w/o dressing. The walnuts on the salad would have been much tastier if roasted. Four of us ordered the same entree prepared similarly but the entree was, at best, lukewarm when served. Two ordered dessert which required a wait time of more than 15 minutes with only one other patron in the restaurant by that time One guest joked that the waitress must have also been the chef! This meal cost me nearly $450 for a very unsatisfactory experience,. I will never return and will not share anything positive about this restaurant. I sincerely hope this comment is forwarded to Mr Habiger as he deserves to know that his Leawood restaurant is doing little to continue his prior established good reputation.
Disappointing. Was there for Sunday Brunch October 2017. Entire meal except for the breakfast potatoes were served room temperature - despite not being busy. Less than 10 tables were occupied. Wierd service, meaning server brought check half-way through the meal. She may have wanted to get out of there too.
Prices were reasonable and the dishes are very creative, too bad that part was lost because the food was not served warm - as if it was made an hour before we arrived.
I have visited Room 39 many times. On this particular date, we had a reservation. It was a heavy parking day with limited spaces. That did make us late for our reservation by about 10 minutes. A table was not held for us, and we were very close to walking away to another restaurant. We were on a limited time schedule this day because it was a business lunch. We have had issues previous with their slowness. It does seem like this venue is better suited for those that have a flexible schedule.
WE had not been in several years. Our food(4 of us) was blah: not much flavor or spice(Trout, Porcini sausage). The service was good and it was fine for a quick bite, but not for fine dining. Its too expensive for a quick bite and not good enough for fine dining.
