We decided to go here last minute and wish we hadn’t.
The server was very courteous and attentive. My date liked her beets, blueberries, and goat cheese salad. So far, so good. My meal, however, was awful. I ordered the filet medium rare and it arrived well done, dry, and void of taste. And, it was only 4 ounces in size!! For $39, I expect more than 4 measly ounces. Ridiculous.
We couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
First of all, I have never met a more rude hostess. Please address that. Our server Brenna was delightful. She was helpful in picking menu options and was very attentive. The salads were good, the scallops were delicious and the beet risotto was just ok. The desserts weren’t very good...especially for the price.
Good breakfast, quiet atmosphere, good service. The biscuits and gravy and potatoes were great!
Went for a first date on Valentine’s Day. The menu was astonishing! The server we had was fabulous! She made spot on recommendations with food and wine!
Let me start by saying that the last time we ate at Room 39, it was one of the best meals I’ve had. On Valentines they have a set menu. The only option for the second course appropriate for vegetarians or pregnant ladies was already gone at 8. We had a pregnant woman who paid $80 for a set 4 course meal who didn’t get to eat one of the four courses. Also my wife’s main course featured a lobster tail that was so undercooked it was still grey and rubbery. They made her a new one to go, but that dish never should have left the kitchen. Our group of 4 eats out frequently and is knowledgeable about food. We had 3 simple questions for our server about what 1 listed ingredient was, and 2 techniques listed in the description. She was unable to answer any of them. Thank goodness for google. Between the valentine menu and the wine pairings, my wife and I spent $260 before tip. I also had to choose something I didn’t want for my 2nd course. Not acceptable.
We went to celebrate Valentine’s and the food was amazing! Service was spectacular and the ambiance was magical!
Had a very nice meal celebrating our Anniversary. Everyone was very attentive. Food was very good but expensive.
Wife’s birthday, perfect for this or any time you want to experience a thoughtful, well planned menu with special care taken to make you dining experience special.
The service was appropriate - not too much or too little, and helpful. The food was very good. My wife thought the garbonzo beans in the soup were a little tough - I disagreed. I had the pork chop and it was somewhat tough. The wine we had was a good wine and fairly inexpensive. The salad with stuffed and grilled olives was excellent. The sample meat cheese plate was also very good.
Overall the service was really good but the food was not at all what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Ordered the kale and Brussels salad to start and their salmon dish for my entree. Salad was served with very little to no dressing at all. Salmon was over cooked and served on a bed of rice that was cold. The Salmon had so many red chili flakes that the spice was overwhelming. I had to scrape them off just to eat it. In no way did it indicate on the menu that it was a hot dish.
Wonderful waitress. She was very attentive and cheerful. Got our food and drinks quickly. Chai tea was delicious and the biscuits and gravy with crispy potatoes were fantastic. Overall, all staff was very friendly. I would come back for the service and the food.
I really enjoyed breakfast yesterday at Room 39. They have Campo Lindo eggs, which are the best in the city. And the chef accommodated our requests. The only issue I had was that at first they did try to seat us at a table that we could not even get into. So we had to wait. Other than that, a perfect morning out.
I had the French toast breakfast...the potatoes were way over done and so was the French toast. Potatoes really shouldn't be served French toast....2 starches. I was disappointed with my selection. A soup and salad choice would be a great addition.
My all time favorite item here is the evening appetizer of chicken livers on toastettes in a caper wine sauce. The chef was kind enough to make it for me as a lunch entree. Delectable and beyond comparison. So very wonderful.
I expected a nicer restaurant atmosphere for the higher prices, but it feels like you are dining in a strip center...
The brunch menu looks more appealing, we will be back to try sometime.
This was not my first time at Room 39 so was very disappointed. The restaurant was very busy and we waited 30 minutes although we had a reservation. The hostess then sat people that came in after us before she sat us. She then apologized stating she has a hard time keeping up with all the people. The trout portion was very, very small, not very tasty, and not worth it at all, however, the brussel sprout appetizer special was fabulous. Will not be back soon.
We dined at Room 39 for Restaurant week and are food and service was incredible. We also liked that we could order off the regular menu as well. Can’t wait to go back.
Dined off of Restaurant Week menu. Portion size of short ribs was very small, maybe 4 bites of meat. Best menu item was the beer cheese soup! Service was slow, staff not prepared for crowd.
It was my sons birthday and he asked for a burger. They said he could only order it from the bar (he is a minor) because it would cause too much stress on the kitchen to go off menu. Why would where he is sitting have an impact on the stress of the kitchen. The nonsense response and pretentious demeanor of the waitress was disappointing. Then the food was absolutely gross. Literally just fat and a bone swimming in au jus on top of polenta. She wasn't even concerned that the meal remained untouched and never once asked if it was acceptable.
Impeccable service and delicious food. What else can you ask for in a dining experience?
