Only go here if you love super spicy food. The food was crazy spicy and didn’t offer any alternatives for people who didn’t love the spice. I know it’s an indian restaurant, but they should also offer some alternatives for the guests that can’t eat spicy food. Food is bleh for the price. Staff is poorly trained.

The butter chicken was superb as was the tuna appetizer. Service was top notch. Will defiantly be going back here for work lunches.

Hard to justify going back. Some food dishes were excellent but impossibly long delays with no explanation, incredibly poorly trained service staff, and a flood of screaming children make it hard to justify returning.

The restaurant manager Vishwas was amazing. We were en route to Napa and he gave us great recommendations for wineries. The food was outstanding. We had the butter chicken and paneer dish. Both were to die for !!

Overall good, love the creative nature of the food and the amazing flavors. The wait staff could use some training as far as paying more attention to the tables as we had to keep asking for change of plates, water etc. could have been an off night and not going to dissuade me from going back, LOVE the food

We got pretty late and the restaurant held the table for us, called us to know where we were and took our order before the kitchen closed. The service was excellent and the food was authentic Indian, slight fusion style. Loved it.

The service was awful from the moment we walked in. Place was empty, yet hostess tried to sit is elbow-to-elbow with another table. Waiter was armature and asked multiple times if he could come back in a few minutes, after we flagged him down. Food was okay. Never seen so much cheese on an Indian menu. Would not go back and really disappointed that a restaurant being on the Top 100 doesn’t mean what I had always thought it did.

The staff is very nice. The food is "meh" and very small portions. We had a vegan diner among us and the staff could only recommend a side dish to him... in an Indian restaurant? Seriously? Then when he got it they weren't sure it was vegan after all so he ate later than the rest of us.

Every single person helping us was a new person, so we never had the same help twice. Generally an unsatisfactory experience for a fancy business oriented restaurant with $24 plates.

The first two times I went to Rooh it completely blew me away and the opening months were easily on par with LYC, Rich Table, etc. in flavors and execution.

This time around the "Pink City" cocktail was still great and the soft shell crab and potato tikki were absolutely delicious. Scallops were cooked perfectly, just wish the sauce had a touch more zing.
From there things took a bit of a turn, second cocktail (their riff on a pisco drink) was passable but I'm sad to say the striped bass in banana leaf was actively bad from my POV.

A higher-priced large-format dish coming with the server's glowing recommendation, we were excited to give it a whirl but after trying it I would recommend diners avoid this dish. If this were the only dish I'd had at Rooh I would not be coming back. Fish was over cooked and lacking flavor and the squash stuffed with Goan shrimp turned out to be overcooked bay shrimp served in a hollowed patty pan squash.

In fairness, in prior visits to Rooh they have really excelled in their sauces, so I would recommend sticking to the dishes with standout sauces and "greatest hit" small plates.

We always wanted to try something new and Rooh was one of the best we had been till date. We had the best creative food and my personal best was Paneer Chilly.

Awesome restaurant with great team. Amazing chef to challenge / stretch classic Indian dishes into next gen while he is doing it he did not loose the flavors / taste / presentation styles . I never met him but the dishes speak for themselves. Great service staff as well.

We were really glad that we tried the tasting menu as it allowed the chef’s creative talent to shine through. Many of the dishes served as part of the tasting menu were not available on the a la care menu. It was delicious - Highly recommended!

Wonderful, especially the small plates. We enjoyed the tuna and cauliflower and am now a fan of chai tea! They do not sweeten it and serve in gorgeously decorated matching tea pot and cup(s). I highly recommend.

We had a large group that ordered many small plates and a few large plates. Sampled scallops, chicken, vegetarian, pork belly, sea bass accompanied by lots of naan bread. Service was attentive and food came out promptly. Food was plentiful and filling. Great experience.

The food was excellent. The service was terrible. They seated us way in the back next to the bathrooms, when there were plenty of open tables in the main restaurant. We should have asked to move immediately, but didn't want to cause a fuss. We waited FOREVER for someone to come to our table and bring water. Then we waited FOREVER for someone to come and take our drink orders. Then, when they finally brought the drinks, we realized after the server left, that she brought us the wrong drinks. But it took SO LONG for her to return, that we just drank our drinks anyway, but were very disappointed. The food took forever to come, but was delicious. Overall the food is excellent, but the service is TERRIBLE! We will not be back because of this terrible experience.

This was a nice discovery just 2 blocks from my apartment. Food is very creative, as are the cocktails. When you need more than a meal and want to dine, this is a good choice. Good options if you are on a budget as well.

This is my favorite restaurant. The cocktails and the food are just outstanding. When last I visited I was with 2 vegetarian friends so we asked the waitperson to keep bringing vegetarian small plates until we told her to stop. Every dish was a spectacular adventure in taste and texture. I can't wait to be back in SF so I can visit again.

We are vegetarians and connoisseurs of Indian food, and Rooh qualifies as a top choice for both! It is definitely not traditional but a contemporary, imaginative and lighter take on Indian food. There are creative cocktails and non alcoholic choices in the drinks department too. We shared several small plates to start. Our favorites included the Potatoes tikka with fried curry leaves and the crispy spicy cauliflower bites. We shared a delicious pullao for a larger plate with Chole on the side and and the chocolate chai cake for dessert. All delicious.
The design is nice with very comfortable semi circular booths but it is a long narrow space and in the little hall outside the loo, extra chairs are stacked upside down which rather detracts from the desired elegance. Also the service, although gracious, was very slow.

Service was great and very easy to get a reservation, but overall the flavors of the dishes were too watered down. For a "progressive" Indian restaurant, I expected much bolder, spicier flavors.

Here's a run down of the dishes we tried:

Traditional Butter Chicken:
Overly sweet and under-spiced. Despite the great creamy texture, it was disappointing, and not better than the average Indian / South Asian restaurant

Asparagus Pepper Fry:
Excruciatingly bland and tasteless. The asparagus itself was fortunately tender and not overcooked.

Pork Belly:
Pulled apart very easily with a great mouth feel. Juicy, flavorful, delicious.

Tandoori Mushrooms:
Best dish by fast, also very tasty with an unexpected symphony of flavors.

The decor feels like a "airport restaurant". Dark color palettes and cheap vinyl seating intended to look expensive, but lacking charm or innovation.

Overall, this place is snooze. Given the high price point, I expected all dishes to be excellent. This is a good place to expense business-related dinners, but not for a date night.

Came here to celebrate the birth of our son. The staff was very attentive and catered to all our needs. The food was flavorful without being to greasy. Would definitely recommend!

Went for a special occasion with family. Good place with nice ambiance. Food was overall good. Went for the tasting menu. Enjoyed the appetizer. Felt entrees could be better. Loved the service.

Food was excellent but service was subpar. Had to call attention of the wait staff several times to place order. Overall, the food was great and family really enjoyed it but would be really great if the staff would be more attentive.
