We dined family style. At our table of ten - one person was gluten free and one avoided spicy food. I appreciate that RooH is happy to accommodate dietary concerns. However, every time the dishes came out of the kitchen the server made a huge "gluten fuss", wagging her finger at my colleague "this has gluten - you can't have this!" This happened at least 6 times... it felt like allergy shaming.
I recommend the server make a simple, announcement (before you bring out drinks) that you will be serving the (gluten-free) items on blue plates / and nut-free items on yellow plates and placing them in front of the customers you are accommodating.
That, and the food was meh.
We went there for lunch on a Monday. It was delicious. There were not many people so it was pleasant and not to noisy.
The but rata and desserts were amazing. Just want to go back there!
I came here with family to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. The staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely amazing. The service was second to none and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the entire evening. Amazing is all I can say!
The food wasn’t quite as good as the last time we dined there. But my biggest complaint was about the music. It was too loud to comfortably have a conversation.
Management is really missing the boat here. We have hosted many events here , but no longer.
Didn't liked the food. I ordered KADAI PANEER it didnt tasted like Kadai paneer
Delectable food, beautifully presented. The cocktails were amazing!
Amazing food and drinks. Had a great time! Would love to come back.
We are very outgoing and try to go to all Michelin star restaurants
This one doesn’t have any star but was recommended by Michelin guide
Food was good but not worth’s the price
Chicken curry was sweet and had no flavor
Accommodation when we asked for Papad was rude and argumentative
Service was extremely slow for the number of guests in the restaurant
Ambience is not very good for the priceAnd Looks rundown place
Very expensive and charged 20% Gratuity for a party of 4 without any good service
Will never go back again
Diwali celebration menu was great! Elaneer Payasam for desert was absolutely mind blowing. Wonderful drinks as always. Btw, I’m not a fan of Indian food😉
Went to ROOH for a special occasion dinner and it felt as special as the occasion. Wonderful service, amazing cocktails, delicious food, lovely ambiance. Overall wonderful experience.
Every bite was a revelation. The presentation of each dish was a work of art. The flavors were unique and wonderful.
Great cocktails, pancake was ridiculously good. Service staff were friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend for brunch.
Awesome food (especially starters) , loved soothing music and the fantastic service .
this is a very high end restaurant that I would come with friends. The food is phenomenal and the apps, dinner and dessert are so creative. I was suggested this place by a friend and could not imagine it could be so good.
Waiter wasn’t great- limited interaction or help with selections. Didn’t check in at all. One dish (mushrooms) not ready for ordering and he kept saying not to order as he had no idea when they’d be ready.
Food delicious but Curry’s have very small portion of meat for sharing.
First time; great service, I was a little disappointed in my dish; but my friends loved their dishes.
Excellent food and really innovative spins on Indian comfort food. Service was a little disorganized when we were there - took us a while to be seated, table was much bigger than our party needed, and the receipt had items we hadn't ordered on it which needed clarification twice. That said, it was still warm and good service and would definitely come back soon!
Had a party of 5 with reservation at 6:30 pm, a reunion with classmates who had not seen each other for 28 years. We had finished our meal and were in process of paying our bill when a staff member came up and told us at 835 pm that ‘people were waiting for our table’. None of us could fathom being rushed out the door in such a brusque fashion. If the owner had been in sight, I would have spoken to her about this treatment, very off-putting.
Poor service. Missed on an item entirely and the server decided to play a blame game than accept the mistake. The manager did a much better job with handling the situation. Good management but very poor service.
Good experience. Food is good as usual and will come back again.
Everything about this place is fantastic. Very stylish space and the food and drinks are amazing!
I love Indian food but have been unimpressed by other comparable (price and style) restaurants. This one I will come back to again and again. Love, love love it!
The food was very good but took a long time to come out even though we got there when they first opened for dinner and it wasn't busy. The temperature wasn't as hot as it could have been but very delicious flavors
FIRST RATE INDIAN FOOD! Every course was excellent. Service was excellent. Ambience was really good. What more can you ask. Five stars.
Great food. Prompt and friendly service. Drinks tasted great
Variety of traditional Indian dishes elevated to a whole new level with generous use of spices and flavors.
Everything was top notch, food, service and ambience.
We are definitely coming back again!
Thank you Rooh for an amazing birthday celebration.
Good food, nice cocktails, friendly and quick service. Only downside is that is pricey ($$$) and parking is an issue
Phenomenal appetizers, delicately balanced flavours, and both true authentic and creative interpretations of flavours from traditional Indian food.
Everyone loved it!
The food was excellent. However, the service as not as good as one would expect. It took 15 minutes for someone to show up after we got seated to get us some water. The waiter dropped the spoon on my plate and did not even apologize.
I was so disappointed in our food and experience at Rooh. This wasn't my first time eating here, but is probably the last. This meal was brunch on Saturday with a very limited menu. I wasn't aware of this when making the reservation or getting a confirmation, my mistake I'm sure, and boy it was a big one! If you're a meat-eater, maybe this won't be an issue, but we had to stay with small side dishes for vegetarian food - and it was all much much to salty!!! I can't emphasize this enough. The service was really off too. Took too long to get water or a server to take our initial order, or to add to our order. When the food arrived, we weren't given dinner plates or serving spoons (and had to eventually "flag" someone down as the servers seemed adept at not looking at tables as they passed by - most frustrating!).
Food and drinks were great. Had rotating waiters all very unpolished. Brought husband for birthday. Waiter casually came by table, “hey dude” were gonna bring by some free ice cream. Other Indian waitress barely spoke English and was painfully awkward. Tried to order a mango mule but they didn’t have ginger beer stocked.
Maitre de was very helpful. Need to polish their service.
Best Indian in entire US. I dine here whenever I’m in San Francisco. I travel a lot due to work and you won’t find Indian food like ROOH anywhere not even in India. You can tell from the dishes that they use best of the products! Thanks to the manager who made sure we were having a great time. Service staff is always courteous.
The food was delicious. Only had 4 small plates between two of us plus a dessert. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavors. The cocktail served in a teapot and teacup was delicious.
We had a lot of excitement about ROOH but unfortunately it turned out to be very disappointing. The menu is priced in an “upscale” category but unfortunately the service and food were nothing close to upscale. We ordered drinks first followed by appetizers and dinner. The drinks were ok and creative. The food service for both the appetizers and dinner was extremely chaotic. We would get 1-2 appetizers followed by a long 30 minute gap for the remainder of the appetizers. Once we ate the appetizers and ordered dinner, an appetizer we had ordered and had forgotten made its way to our table. When we asked about the service to the staff, it was simply our kitchen is busy. Dinner came out is a disconnected manner as well. It made eating together very difficult. The quality of the food was ok. Creative attempts on traditional dishes were made but overall tasted average. The gravies were pretty much the same flavor and looked the same. what was even more disappointing was that our leftover dishes were all mixed together (veg and non veg) even after requesting them to pay attention and keep them separate. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy our leftovers since our family is vegetarian. Overall, very disappointing and definitely not worth the money.
Lipstick mark on coffee mug, 20 mins to get an additional pav.
Chef Pujan Sarkar won a well deserved Saucy Award from the Golden Gate Restaurant Association in 2018 and we've been dying to dine here since we met on stage at the ceremony. The experience did not disappoint! Every bite and sip was creative and delicious! Some of the most unique cocktails and food we've had the pleasure to indulge in... - David & Kristin, San Francisco Wine School
Food is good and has unique taste
