This is more of an issue with Open Table, but they allowed me to setup a reservation for Sunday at 3 PM dispite this place being closed at that time.
I highly recommend this place. The decoration is amazing, The waitress was exceptional, the place is super quiet and cozy
We had both dinner and brunch at the Rebel Guild. The menu is interesting, and the food was very good. The service at dinner was also very good. It is pricey.
At brunch, however, we almost left. Evidently the menu turns from a buffet to brunch at 11:00 AM on the weekend. Our reservation was for 11:00 AM, and we were 10 minutes early. The LIMITED staff just in the midst of taking down the buffet; so why accept an 11:00 reservation.
We had to WAVE down someone to give us a proper table for five and then another person to bring drinks and then to take our order. Noon came, and we still had no food!!
The only reason we remained was because we learned some wait staff did not show and others were late. Because we know staffing, I also did not make a scene but discreetly got up three times to get service and food.
It's not likely we'll return.
After ordering and having all sorts of issues with our order, we were told the restaurant was short-staffed. Even taking that into account, the experience was very poor. Staff looked completely lost. We were a party of 3, all of our dishes had major issues with our order. We ordered a cappuccino and got a espresso, the goat cheese/beet tartine was missing the goat cheese, cheese burger with fries didn’t have cheese or fries. I completely understand all staff trying to do their best, but the restaurant seemed so short-staffed that it couldn’t take care of its customers.
Out with friends for the New Year’s Eve celebration dinner. First before seating at our table the bartender gave us drinks . I didn’t like my drink after a few minutes and switched it for another drink and I was charged for the return drink as well . She stated that I should have said something. Then we sat at our table the 4 of us the server Chrissy was amazing just to let everyone know. The clam chowder was probably the best thing on the menu but everything else was terrible. Lobster bisque tasted pasty , the purée was awful with the dishes . Apparently there been a lot of problems with Chef Sunny’s dishes of bad taste and awful complaints. For the prices of the food we are paying for maybe they should replace the chef with a better one . Definitely will not be coming to eat here again. Just awful.
Cute restaurant located in the updated Revere Hotel. Food was ala carte. Mussels were good, flavorful. The bartender was really nice and made fantastic cocktails. The scallops were a bit over done and tough. The staff kept disappearing because they weren't busy. It was a mixed experience. Not sure I'll go back with so many other options in the area.
We stayed at the Revere hotel and had reservations booked for Sunday brunch here. We sat for quite a while before anyone approached us. The service was extremely slow. We were there almost 2 hours for brunch. We had only ordered some drinks and breakfast sandwiches. This took excessive amount of time. The server who was assigned to us was barely present in the dining room and we had to ask other staff for assistance for things like ketchup and salt and pepper. While we are understanding of restaurants being short staffed at this time, it did not appear to be the reason for the service being so slow. There were only 4 tables seated in the restaurant when we arrived. It was disappointing as the menu looked good and the general ambiance was great.
Four of us went for brunch. Food arrived 50 minutes after ordering and was cold. No service to even refill coffee while we waited. Everyone nice but you should avoid. Ambiance of a railroad station.
Nobody at the hostess stand - either one. Finally got someone, who told us to seat ourselves "over there in the corner". We asked about sitting at a particular table, but were told that was saved for larger groups. It was a 4-seater, and they told us to sit at another 4-seater. Too dark to scan the barcode for the menu. Waitress said the one online was outdated. Finally got enough light to scan the barcode (using the fake candle on the table), and I ordered a drink from that menu that they "weren't making anymore". Also ordered the cornbread which was very dry and the jam for it was too chunky to spread. Drinks were mediocre. Left after one round and the app. Should've taken Saturday night reservation availability as a warning sign.
We were sat quickly and are table was nicely situated in a little nook. Our waitress was overwhelmed, but nice. She apologized more than once for not getting to us sooner. The food was severely overpriced! Spent over 30$ for 4 scallops that were plated with a smear of a squash purée and a couple of carrots and broccoli. It was not even one of those delicious plates with not enough food! It was just ridiculous! Our app. Came out after we got our meal and it was just ordinary.
The service was terrible - actually it was so bad that it was baffling. The food was beyond underwhelming. All in all, I don’t understand why anyone would chose to go back there.
To start, we aren't complainers, we understand that restaurants are doing their best with coming back from covid and the employee shortage. That being said our experience was not good at all, to start my husband ordered an IPA, it was skunked so he asked for a different one, the 2nd Lunch, was 9 months after its date, he then ordered a glass of wine. We ordered different apps - fried chicken lollipops, a Caesar salad with chicken, a Caesar with salmon and meatballs. The lollipops had potential, they would have been much better with some sort of dipping sauce. The chicken and salmon on the Caesars were ok but the Caesar consisted of greens which looked like it had dressing but had no taste whatsoever, like nothing. The meatballs were just ok. So disappointing after coming in from CT to see a show, we were hoping for such a better meal in Boston.
Very limited menu. No vegetation choices. They have no chicken offerings. Beef is either a burger or tips. Underwhelming. No return to this place
Ignored us when we walked in. Told us to sit anywhere then didn’t even bring menus for over 5 minutes as he stood and talked to the other staff at the bar. Not busy so they could have welcomed us and been attentive but instead it was clear we were interrupting their time. We got up and left before we ever got the menus.
Never going back.
The food was good but a bit over priced. Service was slow .
Kind of a limited menu, with only four or five entrees offered. The food was fine. Music was loudish, TVs were showing a movie with closed caption (The Rpck) and a football game that wasn’t live. It’s a little hard to find; you have to go into the hotel and take the elevator to the mezzanine level.
Flat, uninspiring, and average to bad food.
Service was very slow and inconsiderate. We had to wait for more than 5 minutes before we were greeted, more than 30’ before we could order after we were seated. They kept forgetting parts of our order and we had to wait for the dishes they kept forgetting before we could start eating.
Food was ok - nothing super exciting. They were out of 25% of their main dishes, leaving us with only one realistic option - the burger.
We had friends visiting from out of town and staying in the theater district and this was a perfect spot for our group. Our server was very attentive, the food & drinks were excellent and it wasn’t too loud so we could all talk and hear each other. I’ll definitely be going back soon!
The bar area is great! I DO NOT DINE dining at the
Restaurant. I was sat at a back table for 4. Appetizers and food arrived at the same time …..35 minutes after ordering. They never refilled our water and I had to ask the manager to remove our dinner plates because desert was arriving! Service was absolutely horrible and despite complaining To the manager (as a hotel guest) I got “complimentary” desert. It’s as expensive as any other comparable restaurant. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Very good, strong drinks, low lighting made it hard to see. Would go back!!
Great food, quick service and nice ambiance
Tough night for Rebel's Guild. Ordering system went down, not enough wait staff for the number of guests. We waited a while for the server to come to our table, and just put in our entire order to make it easier. Drinks took a long time to arrive, including water. Food was just okay (Caesar salad, Paul's Balls, Scallops, Burger, Clam Chowder, Lobster roll, Cornbread). Salad had little to no dressing. Fries and Paul's Balls were great! When the system came back online, they weren't able to print receipts. Bummer of a dinner out and felt badly for the restaurant staff.
Attentive service despite the crowd, delicious drinks as well
The food and service were fine. However, the restaurant website said it would validate parking for $10 for 3 hours. The restaurant said they didn’t know how to do it and sent us to the hotel front desk. The front desk sent us back up the restaurant. No one could figure out how to do this, even though it is stated on the website. We ended up paying $32 for parking in the hotel garage.
We had a 6:30 reservation. Although there was plenty of staff and the restaurant was not busy the three of us were never acknowledged as we waited to be seated. When I asked a bartender he told me the host was not there that night and we could sit anywhere. We were then ignored for another 8 minutes.
The food was good but I would not go back due to the lack of service.
Bland food. Expensive
Service was really bad we had to wait get seated and had to wait to get served.
Boston Marathon stayed at hotel and ate at Rebel’s Guild. Food was amazing! Service was good.
Service was very slow -food so so- but think
Water glass had a crack in it. Waiter replaced it.
Appetizer was supposed to have asparagus but had none. Waiter went into kitchen and came out with a plate of asparagus.
Waiter went above and beyond.
They were understaffed and it took a while for any service. Once we did get service, it was a very good place. Nice ambience and good food. There is also a bar.
The menu may look lean but it covers all of the bases. Great food, good service, excellent cocktails! Can't wait for the weather to improve to enjoy the outdoor area and fire. Great location in the middle of it all.
The server was extremely rude and tried to overcharge despite clear menu prices published, and denied to correct. Not to mention, the server blamed us as the customer for not being clear with our order. The manager acknowledged the mistake and corrected the check. Would not go back for this reason.
Incredible service from Sean. He was friendly and helpful
The food here is very bland, I got the chicken wings and the chicken and risotto and there was no taste off either, it was very off putting. I ended up not eating the main, somebody needs to introduce spices and herbs and even just salt and pepper to the chef here!
The drinks were nice.
Food was very bland, tiny portions. Taste like it was frozen food reheated. Way over priced. . Could not be worse value for your money.
The drinks were bitter and astringent to the point of not being enjoyable.
The waiter was abrupt and acted put out that we showed up.
During a pandemic, when a couple is willing to spend well and tip well, you would expect that food and service to be up to standard at the very least.
It took me eight months to write this because I was so angry about a completely ruined night out.
Will not be back.
The menu they offered was limited and not what was posted online. The drinks are extremely expensive for the low key vibe.
The bartender - Sean - is the #1 reason I would come back! Amazing cocktails.
