Romano's Macaroni Grill - Plano
The only thing I thought was not that great was the time it took for us to get our Bruschetta. There was one other table in there besides us. We got there at 5:30 and ordered an appetizer right off. It took 30 mins. For only one other table being there, that was a little ridiculous.
The waiter kept saying, it will be out shortly..about 20 or so mins, I asked what the hold up was and he said it was due to them having some online orders too.
Why did we have to wait that long, is what I want to know and why didn’t they tell us, there would be a delay from the beginning?
I have been in Mac Grill when it’s been packed before, and never had to wait that long for an appetizer.
And then of course, our main dish came a few minutes after our appetizer did. We didn’t even really get to enjoy the appetizer..I hate that!
Service was slow and inattentive especially considering the restaurant was slow.
The restaurant was not very busy, we had 7:15 reservations and didn't leave until 8:45. I had two young teens with me and I only ordered one bar drink that took 20 minutes to receive. Our entire service was very slow and we ordered quickly. The food came out and was ok, nothing to brag about for a $20 plate. The table behind us was comped salads for the wait time and we were ignored. We always dined at the Macaroni Grill in the late 90s and it was the best ever. I haven't eaten there in 2 years and now I know why. More than likely not returning, too many better Italian options in the area with faster service.
Food quality has gone way down and prices have stayed the same or increased. Despite below average Italian food, our server was exceptional.
Restaurant reported that we were a no show. Got it wrong. Give us the credit.
Our annual Galentine’s Day was a disaster. Food order was taken but never entered. Waited over an hour only for food to arrive cold. Took 25 minutes to get dessert delivered. Going back to our regular location. This one was barely 2 stars
From the time we sat down at 8pm we did not leave until 9:30pm the service took so long. It was only a meal for two, and we had a movie to catch at 9:10. Albeit, food was great
The service was unbelievably slow. Restaurant was not even a fourth full. It took over five minutes to be recognized by the host and another ten for the waiter to appear. A meal that should have taken 45 minutes tops took an hour and a half. Food was good, but not worth putting up with inferior service. I’ve had it with chain restaurants.
Ray was a great server! Even sang happy birthday to our birthday celebration!!
We experienced good food, nice atmosphere and fair service.
Christmas Day meal. Crowded but glad we chose this place. Food was great.
We went there on Christmas Day because it was one of the few restaurants that was open. The vegetable soup was very good. But the Chicken Marsala was one of the worst dishes I have been served in a local restaurant in decades. I am not an especially picky eater. First the meal arrived cold and had to be sent back. The sauce tasted as if it was primarily made of flour. No real taste. Chicken was not much better.
The pasta was covered in butter and cheese to the point where it was hard to see it to eat it. When we asked for sweetener for our coffee we received some generic no-name brand. It sends a message that someone at corporate is cutting corners. Maybe this was a one off. Our other meals there have been OK but we probably won't be back. Better choices.
I thing my Wife and I choose the wrong nite to go to MG. It was Christmas Eve and there was a limited about of servers - at least it appeared. Took quite a while for the food to come and at one point the French Fries were stone cold. I would go back but not a a busy holiday.
There were gnats crawling all over our table & flying around us the entire meal. Staff was alerted & apologized but offered no solution. Meal took longer than expected to get to us & only came after our server requested they rush the order. Kids menu prices & selection were reasonable. The main entrees were expensive given the quality. I ordered the sirloin & it was terrible. The worst I have ever had at a restaurant. The meat was tough, flavorless, and over cooked. (I asked for medium rare & received medium well. The sides were alright though. Waitstaff was friendly, seemed understaffed though.
Service is very very slow . Didn’t get our food for 45 minutes after placing the order . Finally we left and had to get our food to go . Will not be returning
Our waiter ignored us throughout the entire dinner. We didn't know why? Or what we could have done to make him disliked us. Wasted and ruined our evening waiting for our waiter to bring drinks and food!
Our server was horrible. My friend and I came here for thanksgiving as we both live 1,000+ miles from our families. We had to ask her to take our order after she visited our table twice. My salad came 3 minutes before my food came, so my food started going cold by the time I was ready to eat it. We had to ask the server 2 separate times about a coupon we brought in. We had to ask the server on two occasions (separate from the coupon instance) for boxes for our food. And a third (separate) incident was having to ask twice for dessert. To top it all off, I got home to find I was charged for both checks (my friend and I did separate checks). When I called, apparently the server accidentally ran my friend’s bill to my card, voided it, then ran my bill to my card...but she did not inform me of this. I only saw that both totals were pending on my account. I’m extremely disappointed in the service provided here. What makes it worse was that it wasn’t even a full house, there were lots of servers in the restaurant and the restaurant wasn’t full by any stretch of the imagination. I will NOT be going back.
I hadn't been here for some time and a friend and I get together once a month for lunch so I thought it would be a good place to go. It was fantastic. It was relatively quiet for lunch. We had a great meal. Our server was personable and showed just the right amount of attentiveness. We will make this a regular in the future.
Pretty empty but very slow service. Long meal due to the service. My food came out last. - 10 minutes after my sons. I almost just cancelled it but they gave me $10 off. No manager came by but server said kitchen was busy with a large Uber Eats order? No idea why in restaurant visitors don’t get served first. All the same our food was just okay. I had the sole which was obviously from a frozen source and the accompanying pasta was supposedly aldente but seemed very chewy to me. The arrabiata sauce on my sons pasta was very ehh & probably not really what he ordered. We used to love this place but won’t ever come back. Too many other options.

Our waiter Sam was awesome. He had tons of energy and paid very good attention to his tables. We will definitely be going back!
Perfect dining experience! Rhonda was the best server we did not want or need for anything Bartender was WONDERFUL! Girl friend can shake a cocktail! This is our new brunch spot!
My chicken was tough and full of bristle. The best part of the meal was the Caesar salad I paid extra for!! My liminata was way too sweet.. I won’t be back to this location. The food at the Frisco location is better..
Service is horrible and keeps getting worse. Even though the place was empty on a Monday, we had to wait forever to get drinks and bread, and it was impossible to get refills without practically begging. They give lots of pasta but virtually no protein. Shrimp scampi with five shrimp. A chicken pasta dish with four tiny shreds of chicken that in total wouldn’t weigh an ounce. Last time here.
Our waiter Joe was great and the food was delicious.
Poor service - there were only 3 tables with guests and we continually had to try and flag down our server.
Waiter was slow and behind. Waited 15+ minutes to be greeted. Wine had chunks of cork in it. Bread was cooking and we waited an additional 10-15 min for bread. Bathrooms were a mess, all toilet paper was on top of containers instead of on the rolls, floors were covered, and no paper towels. Asked a different waitress for crayons and she told us to go get them in the basket up front. No manager stopped by our table or was ever seen. Food was good but restaurant was poorly run. Restaurant was not busy at all when we got there.

My reservation was for 1pm. We were seated by 1:10 which was fine. It was all downhill from there. Our server forgot everything and had to be reminded repeatedly. The food took an hour and a half. We never could get our drinks refilled even though we asked. I finally got up and refilled our drinks myself. We then waited for the manager for 30 minutes, was told she’d be there any moment. Finally called her at the fourth time passing by our table.
Other snafus..had to mix our own olive oil with salt and pepper- no fresh ground pepper from the server, the food wasn’t very hot, witnessed two employees getting into it a little, at least three other tables of disgruntled customers, no toilet paper in the ladies room stall, a toilet that wouldn’t flush...
The manager did give us 25% off the bill but it’s not enough to make up for 3 2 1/2 hours of waiting for pasta and fish...
This visit was a nightmare. There were issues in the kitchen - so food was slow (an hour from order to delivery). Our server seemed very distracted. Took over 30 minutes to take our meal order. She would acknowledge empty glasses but never refill. I actually filled my own water and went to bar for soda refills. Our appetizers came out cold and gross - after our meal. They did take those off the bill, but we were at the restaurant for 2 and a half hours. Thankfully I was with fun people and we had a lot of laughs.
They didn't have my reservation on Mother's Day and many other group parties, as well. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table. It took over an hour for our food to arrive and the table next to us, with the same number of people, had already eaten and paid their check.
Waited over an hour for biscuits and gravy and one egg. Egg was burnt and over cooked.
Manager refused to come by table.
We waited for one hour and ten minutes to get our food. Which then made us late for our next event. We will not be returning.
Been there maybe 6 times in 3 years, Saturday’s entrees were way off, salads were warm, beer glass was warm, bread was very hard. Not the usual quality or crowds we experienced in the past. Menu has really changed. Being a Saturday the place was empty, maybe 8-10 tables of people and the bar was totally empty.
The bruschetta is the best. Mushroom ravioli is excellent!
Went here for a proposal dinner. The service was above and beyond what we expected for our large group! I hope to plan another event here soon.
Easter lunch -
It was ok. The food was different and the service was kinda nonexistent it’s an ok place
Only complaints are
1) There was a speaker directly above our table making it difficult to hear others talking, even though we asked twice if the music could be lowered or preferably the speaker shut off.
2) After lunch specialty drinks were ordered and it took a very long time to get them considering how light the crowd was on a Monday.
