Romano's Macaroni Grill - University
Understaffed, bland food, furniture in disrepair.
The last couple of visits to this restaurant have left me wishing for previous times when the staff acted like they really cared about customer satisfaction. I remember when the bread was brought o the table warm. Now it still tastes good but is cold. On this last visit, not once did our waiter offer to refill our beverages. My first disappointment with service I chalked up to perhaps a one-off, so I determined to give them another chance. However, the second visit showed no improvement. Perhaps part of the problem is an inability to hire enough people, but at this rate I don't see this restaurant staying open much longer.
I typically love Macaroni Grill, but this location on the night we went had terrible staffing issues. At 7:15 pm on a Saturday night they were turning people away and not seating them as they didn't have enough cooks, nor wait staff to handle it. We got seated because we had a reservation. It was 20 minutes (and a few inquiries by me) before a wait staff member came by my table. It wasn't just because of staffing - it was because the folks employed didn't understand the term hustle. There was a lack of enthusiasm. Seems like the staffing they could find wouldn't typically be offered a job, but was this time because of the staffing problems. And prices are way up because of inflation. Almost not worth eating out any more.
After waiting over an hour after we ordered, we inquired how much longer until our dinner was going to be ready. They hadn’t started making it yet. We left without eating. There was a party of 4 sitting next to us and they also left without eating because they had been waiting an hour and a half since ordering. Our waiter was apologetic, but still!!
The personnel was super bad and they said that I did not have any reservation.
Took too long to get our food. When we asked why they said they has a lot to go orders. Food is not so good.
Reopening after covid has hit them hard. Very short staffed. Overall the food was excellent which made up for the low waitstaff. Still worth going if your willing to be patient.
Well we were enjoying a nice quiet lunch table of 35 to 40 was seated right behind us. They were very loud as a large group can be - But I felt like when they seated us they should’ve warned us.
It was nice with our two young boys.
This was an old standby for us before we left New Jersey. We did not even realise there was a location here in Texas and really enjoyed the evening. Incredible waitress named Andrea Who seem to anticipate our every need, and we are pleased to see many of our favourites still on the menu! So happy they withstood the pandemic And we hope that they are there for many years to come. Crispy brussel sprouts a...their unusual take on Fried mozarella... Then wonderful offerings of pastas!! Great stuff
It was a nice lunch. The ambiance was very relaxed and we had a great experience with fantastic service, delicious food, and exceptional value.
Great service and great food
Nothing notable, just not that good. I didn’t see the value for the cost. Our server was friendly and attentive, left a healthy tip. But I doubt we will make a return to this place. Typical chain restaurant with profit being king rather than quality.
It had been a long time since I had been to Macaroni Grill but it was a great experience - food was very good, service was also very good!
Good food with good friends. Love the bread and olive oil 💕
The service was fast but the food did not taste fresh. It tasted like it had been reheated. Fettucine alfredo - hardly any sauce and chicken tasted bland.
My wife and I used to love this place but they closed the nearest location. Its as good as I remember. Full house and understaffed but the bar tender stepped up and gave us great service. Food was wonderful and my wife got a free birthday dessert.
Server was a bit slow and the food was ok
I ordered pasta Milano. Pasta was not fully cooked and the dish was missing the artichoke hearts. My husband ordered the salmon, which was crispy on the outside and not fully cooked in the middle.
I’m sorry that I don’t remember the waiters name. He did a fine job.
From the second we got there to the moment we walked out everything was great. Truly enjoyed our server, he was top notch.
Wasnt great not sure if the are short staffed or just normal. No host so had to wait for a server to notice and seat you. Server and food then also took a while, won’t be back.
Our waitor was awesome!!! He was very friendly and attention to detail.
It was nice and very romantic for myself and my wife. Recommend it highly, service was great.
Romano Macaroni Grill has excellent service ,food and comfortable seating. I had the rack of lamb with mash potatoes and mushroom sauce, It was delicious !
I was very disappointed in the service and the quality of the food.
Sadly I would not go back.
Pasta was under seasoned and overcooked. Didnt eat a third of it, when I complained all I got was.."here is salt and pepper"
3 if dined and service was excellent by willie . Food was good and plentiful.
Absolutely delicious, ordered crispy Brussels sprouts and butternut squash pasta and seafood ravioli and all was really delicious even reheated, had an order to go also and was amazed when opened bag and even found a loaf of bread and dipping oil and parmesan cheese, very thoughtful to have included the extras and didn’t expect it, wish you hadn’t closed all locations in Minnesota, always excited to get to texas for my favorite restaurant the macaroni grill.
We were actually early for our reservation and was seated immediately. Our waitress was very professional and friendly. Our food arrived on time perfectly as we finished our salads. The food was delicious as I had remembered. Will be returning again!
Social distancing was observed and masks were properly worn. The waitress was excellent and very attentive. I was disappointed they don't carry bowtie pasta any longer, but the food was excellent. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back!
Thankss for great service from "Kat" one of the managers
great food and great service espcially from "Kat" one of the managers
We were celebrating our 34th anniversary, but it was our first time at the University location. We were very happy to have chosen Macaroni Grill and very satisfied with this particular experience.
Very quiet. Not a lot of patrons due to holiday and Covid.
Employees were not wearing mask when serving the food and making the food.
