Lobster Bisque was horrible, sent it back (someone in the kitchen forgot to add the roux). The cappiciano was not drinkable, sent that back. Waiter needs to be trained at his job. For a Saturday evening, nobody was in the restaurant.
Qualified yes. My family picked coming to Romano's as one of two restaurants in Tucson to eat at as part of our vacation. Our last time was 18 years prior, 2002. Much has changed. Some worse.
Food was delicious except the bread - this was dry, brittle, and not the delicious bread we remember. Food otw was very good.
Noise level and type of music was too loud - despite that we came at the end of lunch time, around 3:15.
Ambiance was otw good. Service was excellent.
Would really like a BIG improvement in the bread.

I was only a little disappointed that we didn't get seated until over 30 minutes after the reservation time
it’s an ok place. chill environment. it’s casual. it’s ok for a date. the food is decent. they use fresh ingredients & it’s mostly homemade. service is average at best. it’s not grace. prices are a little high for what you get. if you’re looking for upscale, this definitely isn’t it. it’s a step above olive garden. maybe it’s better when it’s not busy. definitely don’t go when it’s busy.
Well it was my birthday that day and we spent 3.5 hours at the restaurant, and 2.5 of that was just waiting on our food. We had other plans, and a few of the party members had to leave and didn’t even get the food. Our server Corbin tried his very best and we appreciate him very much. But the kitchen lost our ticket.
Everything was excellent! We only wish there would have been more customers. I don’t think there were more than 25 diners in the place at 6:00 the day before Valentine’s Day. Hope they can stay in business. We want to go back.
We were put next to a painting party where the instructor wore a microphone. It was hard to hear anything else.
Our order was finally taken (after flagging down waiters). Within minutes another waitress comes over to say it was her table and she would get our order from the first waiter. This did not happen smoothly. She was not attentive to us and we had to ask multiple people. She even took awhile giving us our check.
We were in a hurry to leave as it was still noisy and not a very enjoyable dinner.
I have been a regular at the Macaroni Grill since 2005. The Sunday staff was a little thin, but the servers really hustled, and the food arrived hot and tasty. Good Value as well

This one was a little disappointing our waitress was OK but not incredible and my dish with shrimp and angel hair pasta that shrimp were really good but the pasta came cool
the waitress did take it back to warm it up but it look like she shoved it in a dish and microwaved instead of making a fresh one
all in all a little disappointing from the first visit
Long wait for food though empty restaurant. But the food and drinks were here at! We enjoyed ourselves no matter what.
Had an Open Table reservation for 7:00 pm, arrived and checked in at 6:35. Advised that it would be 2 hours due to walk in traffic. I showed them my confirmed Open Table reservation they didn't care!
We went to Macaroni Grill in Christmas. Our party of 4 included two kids and two adults. Our reservation was for 5:30. They were packed. The nice gal at the hostess stand explained that they were at least 30 minutes behind seating people with reservations. She was kind and honest. We waited. We were seated. Our waitress was kind and prompt. She advised us of what food items were sold out and that the wait for food was at least an hour. She was kind and honest. We ordered drinks and entertained ourselves talking, laughing and playing hang man and tic tac toe with the provided crayons on the butcher paper table cloth.
Our food came. It was good.
Despite the wait, everyone was in good spirits. Service was good. Food was good.
Restaurant was overbooked and kept accepting walk-in patrons effectively making our reservation meaningless. Manager kept blaming diners taking too long and staff not being aggressive enough to create turnover and freeing up tables. Wait time was anywhere from 45 to 120 minutes. With such a long wait even with reservations, and with the restaurant's lack of planning, poor management, and the idea that we would be rushed through a Christmas dinner, we did not wait. In fact, there was really no place to wait. Everyone had to be right next to the hostess table to hear names being called. No paging system at all. I even saw them seat a party of one at a table. Extremely noisy which made for a sense of uncontrolled pandemonium with very unhappy people huddled all the way up to the entrance of the restaurant. I am now stuck with gift cards. The Macaroni Grill (local and HQ) has not replied to my complaint. Due to either their complete incompetence with a Christmas dinner reservation system, or corporate greed to overbook, our Christmas dinner was ruined. I probably will never set foot in Macaroni Grill ever again. No wonder they are in Chapter 11 bankruptcy with poor management and even worse customer relations.
We made our reservation for Christmas Eve and it was crazy crowded and we had to wait an hour to get seated. Then they put us in a table in a small corner squashed in. Then it took an hour to get our food. The food was great, as usual, but I think they tried to fit too many people in during the day and got very backed up. I doubt anyone got seated at the time of their reservation except maybe the first group. I'll continue to go to Macaroni Grill, but never on a holiday. I think they should just stick to their regular schedule and not do holidays anymore.
Horrible experience. They do not honor open table. They were overbooked and the manager walked out. We waited an hour and 45 minutes to even get served. All this on Christmas with reservations. Never again!
My reservation was kept, close to the time. The place was overly crowded, and it was mentioned in passing, that the fire code was surely in violation. However, upon being seated, I was informed that the General Manager had just walked out along with two of the cooks. Therefore dinner would be at least one and one half hours late, after the order was placed, which would be after 6:00 P.M. The waitress was "matter-of-fact" in her message, like you can get up and leave now, or stay and wait. We voted to stay, knowing it was already late in the day. The waitress left to get some menus, coming back with the comment that they were short of menus, we would have to share them and laid them on the table. About twenty minutes later she came back to take our drink order. Later she came back to take our dinner selections. Her attitude during our stay was difficult to deal with. Our food arrived, but was not looking the best, and two dishes were unacceptable, but because of the late hour, they ate some of it. About 7:30 P.M. my guests left the table to get the car, and I was paying the check. If the whole evening was not already a disaster, the waitress, had not run my "gift card" along with my credit card, so for her expected "tip", she told me to leave my "gift card", as her tip, and left the table. Astonished at her suggestion, I picked up my purse and left the table and walked out of that place. That was my Christmas Dinner experience at Romano's Macaroni Grill.
Our Christmas Day meal at Romano’s Macaroni Grill was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. They were late seating us for our reservation, we waited 2 hours for our food, the table was dirty with no servings when we sat down, the waitress and staff were obviously stressed and beyond caring. The whole event was poorly managed. Never could find a manager. This used to be a restaurant I looked forward to visiting but I will never be back.
I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was delicious. The food is good! The other half is service and our visit lacked it big time. The food is good comfort food. Everything from the olive oil b to the calamari. But if you have to sit and wait for water it ruins the effect of “comfort”. Our waiter was half attentive and it hurts the restaurant. We walked in to the waiter’s complaints about more customers on “his” side of the restaurant. Eating out means getting half way decent service. This visit lacked it!
I realize it was Thanksgiving, but we had a reservation for 4 people at 8:00 PM, only to show up at 7:30 PM, to be told we would have to wait for a Table. Okay, then we noticed that other parties were being seated before us as we waited. We were told, that they showed up before us, and that they had an 8:30 PM reservation. Yes, 30 minutes after our reservation. So, why would we want to make a reservation, if you do not honor it? Then it gets better! We were seated at 8:40 PM, and told that the restaurant was closing at 9:00 PM, so make it quick. Three of the four place settings were dirty, with physically food stuck on the plates and silverware. When we asked if we could have clean Dinnerware, our server was disgusted that we would ask. Our server was tired and had a horrible attitude! Then, we were told that almost everything was sold out from the Thanksgiving Dinner! Cesar Salad, Sold out! Green beans, Sold out! Soup, Sold Out! Cheese cake, Sold Out! When we asked for Parmesan cheese, at this Italian restaurant, we were told that they had it, but they don't offer it on Thanksgiving! Wow, not very customer oriented. Not a good choice for Thanksgiving Dinner, or a place you would want to make a reservation, or really ever want to return to. Best of luck! Stick to non-Holiday dinners!
We had reservations and were told reservations did not matter and had to wait an hour to be seated. They shouldn't offer reservations if they will not be honored. The food was ok but they ran out of the advertised dessert and again, if you offer reservations then you should reserve seats and enough food for your guests.
Made a reservation but it didn't matter. When you got there, the wrote your name on a list and that was that. Times didn't matter. What was the reservation for? Very silly!
Place was overbooked. With a reservation was told it would be over an hour wait. Staff was rude about it. Other patrons were getting angry and whole scene was a nightmare. Did not wait.
Macaroni Grill is one of my favorite restaurants but Thanksgiving dinner there was crazy. Even though I had reservations I knew when we walked in that we'd be waiting a long time because there were about 25 people waiting. There were numerous things that went wrong - wrong salad, wrong entree (but she said to just nibble on the Shrimp pasta dinner while she got my correct turkey dinner). I wouldn't judge the restaurant based on this as they told us that Thanksgiving was their biggest day of the year and that of all their restaurants the Tucson one does the biggest business.
Went for Thanksgiving. Had 5:45 reservation. Waited 1.5 hours. Server was great but..... The servings were skimpy and they ran out of cheesecake, which was part of the Thanksgiving Dinner menu. Should of not taken walk-ins that day!!!!!
We went on Thanksgiving and had a 5:30 PM reservation. We were seated at 6:25 PM. Everyone who had a reservation had to wait almost an hour for their table. When customers told the hostess that they had a reservation, she just wrote your name and number of people down on a list - she didn't check it against the reservations that had been made. There was no clear indication of where to check in or what the lines of people were for, so some people waited in the line of people already checked in and didn't know they needed to get their name in with the hostess right away, since she wasn't using any sort of reservation list. Our waitress awesome. She was working her butt off. The management is to blame here. They obviously didn't plan well for the reservations, they didn't have enough people busing tables. Some tables were empty 10-20 minutes before they were cleaned, and one table sat ready for people for 20 minutes before they sat people there. The staff did as well as they could given the circumstances, but I don't know if I would go back - especially on Thanksgiving.
Reservations at 430pm. Was told 25 min wait. It was 6pm when we started eating our food. Never again.
I get it that Thanksgiving Day dinner is probably the busiest restaurant day of the year, but when we got to the restaurant it was obviously overbooked and the host was seating people without reservations ahead of us even the we had a table reserved. We didn’t want to wait 45 minutes for our table and just left.
We had 3:30 reservations for thanksgiving dinner. We waited in line until 4:20 to be seated. We both ordered the turkey dinner, the turkey was dry and the roasted Brussels sprouts were not editable, dry and tuff. We were pretty disappointed as our 90.00 dinner was not enjoyable at all. Our server Demetri did a good job under the circumstances.
It was Thanksgiving. The place was jumping. We expected to have a wait, and we did, but that didn't matter to us. We had a super waiter, CJ, who worked his butt off, and the food was delicious!
Took a family group of 14 to Macaroni Grill for Thanksgiving dinner. This review is for the Thanksgiving meal only. We had a reservation, which helped since the restaurant was swamped with walk-up customers. The staff look frenzied and were completely overwhelmed by the number of patrons. The hostesses were very apologetic, as they knew the customers were likely to be displeased with the service and the time waiting. We were seated at about 15 minutes after our reservation time, and our food order was finally taken about 40 minutes after. When the meal arrived approximately 60 minutes after, it was not fresh and hot. The salad was somewhat limp. I did not hear one comment about the food being good. It was actually very disappointing, and the servers, bless their hearts, were overwhelmed. Needless to say, we won't be going back to Macaroni Grill for a holiday meal again. They should consider not serving a Thanksgiving meal if this is the best they can do.
Place was packed, but notwithstanding service was efficient and friendly. Food was very good and in my opinion very reasonable.
Our Reservation was for 1:15pm and we had to wait for almost 30 minutes to be seated! For they had be people that had been sitting there eating for almost 2 hours they had already been served and done eating but was busy talking, they need to set a time limit on how long you can sit at a table or booth when it is a Holiday!
We booked reservations a couple of weeks ago. When we got there, early booking for 11:30a, they wanted to put us at a smaller table and add a chair for our booking of 6. There were many tables available and when we asked for one that was open and set for 6 they told us it was reserved and they would put us on a wait list if we wouldn’t take the smaller table. I shared we too had a reservation for 6, they seemed surprised then honored it and moved us to a table that comfortably accommodated our party of 6. When seated, service was challenged. Water and sodas came out timely. Wine did not, and we asked twice as to where our drinks were following a long wait before they were served. Three of the six in our party ordered the 3 course turkey special for thanksgiving. None of them received their first course. When the main course was served they asked where their soup and salads were. They said they would bring them out. The soups and salad never arrived. We pointed this out, and they asked if they wanted their soup and salads boxed up. They did get their desserts. The food was good but the experience of family together for a special meal and the disappointment of not receiving drink orders timely or parts of their meal at all resulted in a disappointing experience.
It was Thanksgiving and it seems they were way overbooked and couldn't keep up with the huge amount of people. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but saw tables that were not bussed on the way to ours. One near our table was not cleared the whole time we were eating. The food was good and the waiter attentive and the cooks were outstanding. We were watching them while we were waiting.
Sue our server was fantastic, but the restaurant has gotten rid of several things that enticed us to visit (i.e. half-price bottles of wine, different ways of cooking things).
Used to come here for years but stopped for awhile. Food wasn’t as flavorful as in years past. Other choices for Italian food are better.
