Food okay; considering it was very empty w/ epidemic starting I would have expected better service
Service was so bad. Contacted the general manager and she came to the table and then left used the excuse that the server was new ok then give him some help. We will not be back
Probably our last visit here. The food is good ....not great. The staff are nice but not plentiful. And there is NO organization or coordination in the seating/serving of the customers. Our experience are with restaurants packed w/after church patrons ....but not Macarini grill ....PLENTY of avail seating at 12:45 on a Sunday. The hostess acted super puzzled as to where she should seat us. She took us to the farthest corner of the restaurant. No wait staff greeted us. We sat for over 10 minutes being ignored by 2 other waiters working tables around us. We called to one of them and we immed got her to service our table. Everything was very slow coming out. The salads were an extra $2.50 for as much as we wanted .....but what we were served had already some kind of oil dressing on it as well as a side of Ranch dressing that I ordered. Waitress apologized and took it off bill. I had the custom pasta build with Brocollini. The pasta was good ex the only brocolli in my dish were the stout stems! We were there total 2 hours as we watched the 2/3 empty restaurant and waited for our meal service to complete. I read previous reviews and should have paid more heed to them. This restaurant needs to get their act together.
Just bad from start to finish. Dirty silverware and glasses, terrible service, cold food. I just don’t have anything good to say. It’s a shame, because this restaurant used to be one of my favorites.
Macaroni Grill at one time was one of our favorite restaurants but we haven't visited in years. Unfortunately time hasn't been favorable to the restaurant. It appeared dingy and dirty. The Hostess was unfriendly and made it appear we were bothering her. Once seated it took forever for the wait staff to show up. I ordered Penne Rustica which was barely edible. My wife ordered Egg Plant and she said it was just OK.
Based upon our poor experience I will never again visit your Macaroni Grill. There are too many decent restaurants to choose from in Louisville, Kentucky
The food was great! Service was excellent! Although they were greatly short handed, the service and food did not suffer. We will definitely be coming back.
My wife and I had reservations for 6:15pm. We arrived prior to our reservation but were not seated until 6:40pm even though tables appeared to be available. After taking our order the server never stopped to check on us until it was time for the check. Kitchen staff brought out our food and drinks glasses sat empty.
We had reservations for 8:45 arrived at the restaurant 30 min early and the wait was still over an hour. We did not stay
Absolutely horrible experience, we had a reservation at 8:30. At 8:45 requested an update was told there are 9 tables ahead of you. One hour after ordering we hadn’t received our salads, the restaurant was freezing cold come to find out the heat has been broken since December. Spoke to the manager about poor service and temperature - response, the issue is corporate. At approximately 10:00 pm setting at our table in coats and gloves to stay warm we decided to leave -never received our salads. This restaurant is an absolute disaster.
Our experience was awful. First of all we had a reservation and we still waited 45 minutes to be seated. Once seated we waited a very long time and were never waited on. We were freezing and noticed that everyone was wearing their jackets. We asked the host and was told that the heating system was broken. No one had told us that there was no heat. It was 49 degrees inside. Still no one waited on us. So, we ordered BBQ takeout and went home. WE WILL NOT BE BACK!
We had reservations at 8 pm. When we arrived we were informed that the wait was an hour, even though you had a reservation.
Horrible, arrived early got seated a little after reservation. Had the pleasure of setting next to one of the host terminals. Heard about how everyone is quitting, heard that the manager put their hands on one of the waiters. But the best part is they gave our food away after we waited at our table for over an hour. This place ruined my Valentine's day dinner and I ended up eating Mc Donald's where I got great service. Not to mention that this place was an ice box.
Worst restaurant I’ve ever tried to eat at
This is the third time that we have visited on a busy night. Every time, the same problems were obvious. The handling of the reservation system by the greet staff and low level of general staffing marred the experience, which otherwise was excellent. On Valentine's Day, which we expected would be a busy time, we arrived early, with a one week old reservation, and stood in line waiting to get to the host station for about 20 minutes, mostly without moving forward. Eventually, another person and I went around the line to the station (which was unmanned), and waited to ask whether we were really in the correct line for reservations, even though all the couples around us also had reservations. A group further up in line said that it looked like they were taking walk-ins before reservations, but it was hard to tell.
The person who was apparently supposed to be at the host station was doing heroic duty trying to find tables for the next group. He had to constantly patrol the room, looking for empty tables, often needing to finish setting the tables himself, make sure that a server was assigned to it, which apparently wasn't often the case, come back and find the party, lead them to the table, and come back for the next party. Often he needed to return to a table which apparently still hadn't been seen by a server, pacify them about the wait, and find another server to handle that table. Given his heroic and consistently professional job, I was tempted to leave him a larger tip than our server. He certainly deserves a big raise, at least.
Table service was excellent, even though our server apparently wasn't officially assigned to our table. We got one of the Valentine's specials, and the appetizer, salad, and entree were delivered on time, hot, and were as good as we have always expected from the restaurant.
I understand the difficulty of staffing a restaurant on heavy days, but I think that someone needs to have another look at their intake process.
I booked this reservation to take my extended family to dinner on Valentines Day. After making the reservation I called to confirm menu options and to ensure the time was ok for a group. We arrived at 7:10 and waited in a line to get to the hostess desk for more than 25 minutes. When getting to the desk, the hostess was clearly physically and emotionally stressed. We let her know of our reservation and she stated her displeasure with the fact that we were given a reservation at all staying that whomever allowed that to happen clearly was aware of how many people would still be dining. We waited for another 15 minutes and were seated at two separated tables. It was incredibly frigid where we were and the waitress immediately apologized for the cold stating they have had a ticket open to fix it for awhile. There were no space heaters, no communication prior to seating about how cold it was and no effort to make it bearable or right. Rather, our waitress was run completely ragged with too many tables and a kitchen that couldn’t keep up. We sat for 20 minutes before we received some of our drinks, another 30 before they were all delivered. It took more than 30 minutes to get bread. One of our party received their appetizer (bruschetta) after the rest of the the apps had been cleared. The salad ordered was incorrect. The entrees took nearly two hours and when the food was delivered, each dish was cold and much of it was no longer edible. The steak was so tough and cold it couldn’t be cut with the butter knife we had available. Much of it was packed up to reheat at home bcs we were so frigid our toes and fingers were frozen. We had our coats and hats on. Throughout that time many tables left, abandoned food orders, asked for managers and told people waiting to leave. The waitress was doing her very best given what she had to work with. My guests were cold, hungry and very angry when their food was so bad. It was just awful. Had we known, we’d have happily done fast food.
The furnace was not working, even staff had coats on. It was so cold, our appetizer was cold when it made it to the table. The server said it’s an old building, and an old furnace. You would think the manager would get space heaters or something, made for a terrible valentines night. They did give us a coupon for lunch to use by March 31, hope the heat is on by then
Valentine’s Day ——it’s 25 degrees outside——and inside this restaurant. The heat was out but instead of running next door to Lowes for heaters or getting blankets to wrap around chilly customers, let’s pretend it’s not in the 20’s and maybe no one will notice?! Clearly not enough severs because we sat for at least 30 minutes before we were acknowledged. The Valentine special was sporadically dropped at other tables...then to ours. The entree was far from hot. The waitress must have been hiding because we like to never found her to pay and get the heck out of dodge But happy Valentine’s Day!
Under-staffed for Valentines; steak, potatoes, broccoli dinner served cold had to be sent back; seated @ 6:30 up @ 8:45; server, Kristen, was overworked, apologetic, but very good under the circumstances; building heating system failed so interior was cold as well as the food; this is second time dining here has been problematic. We will not be coming back as there are many more better choices.
Food was very good.
There was no heat in the restaurant. We had to wear heavy winter coats to be able to tolerate it. I ask waiter about getting heat and he said it had been broken for months. I ask to speak to manager and never got to talk to one.
This was our valentines dinner and it was ruined because of the temperature. It was below freezing outside.
Very overpriced! We were there on Valentine's Day and they did not have any eat. Everyone was eating with their coats on.
The place had no heat it was about 52 degrees in the building and dropping, the waiter said it had been like that for 3 weeks open table should have been aware of this and informed patrons ahead of time.
There wasn’t any heat in the restaurant- it’s been out for 2 months - no one mentioned this when we arrived. The food was just okay- the salad wasn’t fresh. Very disappointing.

The restaurant had no heat and was extremely cold which made eating a Valentine’s dinner very uncomfortable. Food was good but got cold fast as we had to dine with our coats and hats on. Would have been nice to get a heads up beforehand.
Dinner was very nice. Food was good, service was a little slow, but it was Valentine’s Day, and I think she was overworked. The only issue we had was there was literally NO heat. It was also the coldest day of the year. It would have been better if we would have known and could have dressed warmer.
We had reservations, but had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We waited about 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We expressed to the hostess that it was really cold in the restaurant and she said yes, the heat is out and we are having it worked on. We were seated, left our coats on and the waitress came to get our order. She brought out drinks and after 10 to 15 minutes we still had no bread or salad and she had not came back to our table. So, with the heat out on a really cold night, no apologies and looking as though we would be lucky to get our food, we left. Note, the restaurant was not very busy yet as our reservation was for 4:30. We have eaten there many times and enjoyed the food and service. Needless to say this experience makes us question if we will ever eat there again. Very disappointing since we had planned on a romantic Valentine's evening.
The food was good. The service was great. However, the heat was out and apparently had been for awhile, although we didn’t know until we asked.
Seven of us went for dinner and both the food and service were quite good. My only complaint was that it was quite cold in the restaurant and several of us ended up wearing our coats to stay warm. That said we will be back .

Some of the food was cold. It was so loud, we couldn’t have a conversation. We were seated right by the kitchen, so there was a lot of distracting traffic. Our waitress was great and we appreciated the birthday dessert.

Internal problems -- unbeknownst to us, the GM walked out 5 days before we ate there. The place was in disarray. The Texas branch GM stepped in to help out. They were severely understaffed. I made reservations for 7:15. We weren't seated till 8:30. The receptionist told us that everyone had made reservations for the same time. What business accepts reservations that require confirmation but don't meet that confirmed time? We only stayed as it was a promise made to my children. I worked at this location 20 years ago. Back then, it was immaculate and ran like a well-oiled machine. This time around, it was more like an understaffed, dirty McDonalds. I tipped our waiter $40.00 on a $152.00 tab as it wasn't his fault, even though the cooks messed up my order. If OpenTable had anything to do with over-booking, I won't use the app again and will trash it on all social networks. This was a terrible experience, all-around.
It was a mixed bag - the food was delicious! But our Open Table reservation was at 7 and we were seated at 7:30 which wasn’t too bad considering that it was New Years Eve with a skeleton staff. Our waitress was sweet but new and didn’t know where the silverware was and hostess didn’t give us any when seated. So our entrees arrived before our salads but no utensils. Also the wall our booth was next to was covered in food stains-pretty gross. But again, the food was excellent!

Arrived on time for a 645 reservation. At 745 we left having no idea when we might get seated. (530 reservations were just then getting seated). The lobby area was packed with frustrated customers waiting for a seat (also had reservations). No place to sit. No hospitality for what was clearly a major staffing issue. Granted, it was Christmas but their reservation acceptance should have been altered to align with their abilities. Horrible experience.
Normally, I would recommend this restaurant but not for Christmas lunch. We waited for an hour to be seated - even though we had a reservation. The food was cold. Service was poor - I'm guessing because they did not have enough staff working the holiday. They shouldn't be open if they cannot deliver the same quality food and service. Disappointing experience.
We went to Macaroni Grill on Christmas Day. The server was very nice but she was also the bartender, so she was very busy and this impacted my lower score on the service. The food was delicious! Unfortunately, we were seated across from the doors to the restrooms, so there were a lot of people going in and out which affected noise level and distractions. Overall the experience was very good and I would recommend this restaurant, but be selective where you sit!
