Romano's Macaroni Grill - Legacy
Food was exceptional! Service was inconsistent and slow.
I’m not sure how this experience could have been much worse. We booked a 6:45pm reservation for 3 to celebrate our daughter’s recent promotion. When we arrived, we were told there would be at least a 20 minute wait. We explained we had a reservation and the hostess, who could not have been less interested in being there or greeting anyone, told us the reservation didn’t matter, we would have to wait at least 20 minutes before being seated. The dining room was 2/3 empty. While the hostess was telling us this, a man walked up with a pager in his hand, gave it back to the hostess and said, “we’re tired of waiting, we’re leaving.” The hostess then said to us, “okay, I can seat you now.” Not sure why that mattered but we were glad to get a table.
Our server was nice but struggled to keep up with the simple stuff, like keeping our glasses filled (water, Diet Coke). We ordered 2 appetizers and both came out in a reasonable amount of time, although the tomato basil soup was nothing more than marinara that had been watered down. Literally. My wife’s lobster bisque had been so watered down it was a broth. And my daughter had asked for dressing on the side for her salad. It came slathered in dressing.
While eating, we heard a waiter verbally berating a customer in the booth next to us. Apparently, the customer was trying to get the attention of his server and the server began telling the customer how rude he was and that he’d better never do that again. This went on for 2-3 minutes. It was appalling how the server was speaking to the elderly man.
We waited for an hour and ten minutes for our entrees and finally instructed our server to just have them package the meals to go. We had ordered the mahi and also the salmon, 2 dishes. When we got home, we found both to have been over-cooked. The mahi was so over cooked that it had the consistency of overdone turkey breast. Pretty much the same with the salmon. During all of this, no manager ever showed his/her face. Never again.
Macaroni Grill overbooked for Valentines Day. We made a 745pm reservation and didn’t get seated until 820pm. We arrived early and sat in the bar but they were so busy we had to sit at a dirty table the entire time. Once we finally sat we waited a hour for our food. They ran out of calamari and the potatoes with the steak and potatoes Valentine package. It was a hot mess and very disorganized.
Terrible service and food! People were getting up and leaving because service was so bad. Bread was stale and the food was cold.
They overbooked and caused delays of over 2 hours. I plan on writing to the general management or corporate. Many unhappy people that will never go back to that location
Not staffed up for the night. Late seating reservations, slow to take orders, entrees took over 1 hr and were not worth the wait. Lots of people left without receiving their food at all. We did feel sorry for the wait staff as it was out of their control.
Cant comment , we left after not being seated for 30 mins
Sure, it was Valentine’s Day, and expected to be busy. But we had a 6pm reservation and weren’t seated until 6:25. It looked like they added more tables, as the space was incredibly crowded. After sitting for 10 minutes without a waiter coming by, the table next to us got sat and a waiter immediately took their drink order. We grabbed a waiter walking by, asked him to get our waiter, and he didn’t know who it was. He graciously told us he’d just take care of us even though it wasn’t close to his section. Got us drinks and bread immediately and took our order. This was at about 6:40. We told him we were seeing a movie at 7:30. At 5 after, he came to tell us he had checked with the kitchen and they were so behind they hadn’t even started our food yet, and he doubted we’d get it by even 7:30. We cancelled the food and paid for our drinks and one salad and left. So for spending almost an hour and a half there when we had a reservation, we only got salad and drinks. Really disappointed
We had 6:00 pm reservations on Valentine's Day. We had a short wait to be seated. From there, it went down hill. Our server did not show up for about 20 minutes. She took our drink orders and we ordered from the "special menu" in order to expedite the process. There were several other diners in our area that were complaining about the wait. We were forced to get our food to go as we had to be somewhere at 8:00 pm. Obviously they were overbooked and way understaffed. As we left, there were many people waiting to be seated. I felt sorry for them because I knew they were in for a very long wait.
I know it was Valentine's Day, but this was a horrible experience. We have been to this restaurant on many occasions. In fact, it was where we went on our first date. We will not be back.
We left hungry after waiting more than an hour for our food to arrive - worst Valentine’s dinner experience ever.
Good food. Valentine’s Day special didn’t allow for any changes:(
It's been years since we had dinner at Macaroni Grill. We made it a dinner and movie night. But we were very disappointed with the food. My date's lobster bisque soup was very thin and no lobster chunks. Then he ordered the tomato basil soup -- way too red and not flavorful. My Pasta Milano dish was not tasty as I remembered it. Then we tried the canolis for dessert -- too fried for my taste. At least the Coppola bottle of wine was good. The service was good: new waiter and very pleasant.
We are giving a 1 star and dont feel like it deserves that much. The atmosphere was nice. But the disappointment came from the way we were treated from the waitress. She only serviced us when she gave us our bread, drinks and took our order. After that we didnt see here at all.
Our server was very hard to find when needed. Our food was got and good though!
This is the first time we had a horrible experience. It took an hour to get food and then when it arrived it was raw chicken. Sent back and had to wait another 15-20 minutes. The food was awful! 2 if the 4 if us ended not eating it. We asked for manager and he didn’t seem to care there were issues. People from other tables got up and just left because of the wait. The waiter discounted the meal but nothing was comped. All the waiters seemed new and they said the chefs were new too. The problem was with the manager in not being able to run that restaurant. Either there will be no customers or somebody will realize they have an issue and replace the staff and management.
We loved our server, and everyone was so friendly
Understaffed... the minimal wait staff were doing what they could to keep up. Long wait with few guests/tables... food was lukewarm...salads forgotten then came after entrees were served. We were patient but won’t be back. Would have thought that the manager on duty would have spoken about the situation with the guests. However, we never saw one.
Definitely—good food and staff. Easy to make reservations.
Service was polite but a bit slow. Had to remind server more than once for some items. Salads were overdressed. Pasta was fine but nothing out of this world delicious.
It was pretty bad food. I guess they ran out of lettuce, because we were served arugula for a garden salad. The order was prepared incorrectly. The server was overworked.
They were so backed up, we were not seated until 90 minutes after our reservation. They quit serving their special limited Christmas menu, because they ran out of too many of the dishes. Once seated, our food and service were excellent.
Went there for Christmas. They ruined it. Server was rude. It was taking an hour and half for food. We got up and left. Awful.
Macaroni Grill was not prepared to host Christmas Dinner, as they were for Thanksgiving. Two chefs fought and had to be sent home, the wait staff was so disenchanted and struggling with having to work so hard as others called in "sick". We had to wait 15 minutes to even be acknowledged & finally the hostess assigning tables came over to get our drinks and help the other staff that was short handed. My waiter and the kid that cleaned up the tables really did their best to save the night. The manager comped our meal after we waited about an hour to get our food and it was served cold and I had to get mine warmed up. We appreciate that they were opened, but I wonder why they were ready for Thanksgiving but not Christmas.
I would recommend them at any time other than when they are the only restaurant open on Christmas. They were totally unprepared for the incredible amount of people who showed up, both with and without a reservation. They ran out of quite a few items, but our waitress coped with the chaos as well as she could. The food was great. I did apologize to the gentleman at the front desk who had to put up with the idiots who were yelling and blaming him for the lines that were going out the door and the long wait. Despite the mess the employees kept smiling!
We had a dinner reservation at 4pm, but did not eat until 5:30pm. Service was very slow.
I had a 2:30 pm reservation party of 3. We arrived at 2:20 pm we was not seated until 3:20 pm. The manager allowed large parties 6 and 18 with no reservation to be seated before seat myself, my son and my disabled mother. Good was good, everything else was the worse Dinning experience ever.
They have lost a customer for lift!
Given that it was Christmas Day and things were hectic for everyone, our experience wasn't that bad. Food was OK, but not great. Waiters were rushed and everyone was on their phones and not talking to each other (but that's not your fault). We like your restaurant, but Christmas Day is not a good choice.
Food was very good. Service was lacking, but that was understandable as they were probably shorthanded being it was Christmas day. The rest of my review is to get in the mandatory 50 characters.
We went for the first time on Christmas Eve. Not sure if the staff was overwhelmed, but it took a long time to get served. It wasn’t very crowded though. Once the food came, my son’s steak wasn’t cooked properly. We had already waited so long, so he just at around it.
It was Christmas Eve, busy and seems staff was short. Was suppose to receive salad with entree, but never got got them. Waitress never even asked what salad dressings wanted? We got entrees before table next to us and they were there before us so we counted our blessings, ate and left. Wouldn’t go again on a holiday.
Extremely under staffed. Poor management.
Great experience. Last time I ate at a Macaroni Grill was about 10 years ago, it is better than I remember now. Frieda was an excellent server.
We reserved thanksgiving turkey dinner for 4 a week ago for thanksgiving day, we didn’t get any notifications until we sit down , waitor informed us that the turkey dinner is sold out and we had to order from the menu! That was really disappointing and no explanation was given, reservation doesn’t reserve I guess!
The Thanksgiving food was very average in terms of flavor but the turkey was tender. Next time, we would skip the Thanksguving dinner and eat their regular food. The amount of food was generous, but not flavorful as I would have expected from this place. The wine was good. I would recommend this pl ace for the ambiance and regular food. They had an Italuan Opera singer there that was fun.
Our 2nd annual Thanksgiving at Romano's Macaroni Grill and it was as great as the first. The full Thanksgiving menu was fantastic, with super tender turkey. We will continue with this tradition!
Good Italian food, and I love that they were open on Thanksgiving!
Birthday Celebration- Dessert was in the House for the Birthday girl
Server was good, portion size has shrunk. But next time we came in the server had a terrible time given us the lunch portion for my 11 year old daughter - it was like an act of congress to have them do what this server on this visit did with no issue at all.
