Romano's Macaroni Grill - Fresno
Book your next event with us
Celebrating my Dads 85 th birthday. Our waitress was excellent. She was very busy but still had a smile on her face and answered all of our questions.
We got to the restaurant earlier than our reservation. They seated us immediately, the food and service was great! Very enjoyable family birthday.
We love the food, but this time the service was very disorganized. The manager started us off with wine and told us several times he would be sending our waitress over. It took at least 20 minutes or more for our waitress to finally arrive and no bread either. Once we finally got our order in, the food arrived promptly. It was a nice dinner but we got there at 7:30 and were there until after 10:00.
After going to Romano’s for many years I think I know what keeps people away. The word ‘macaroni’ in the name. People don’t associate ‘macaroni’ with a romantic night out. We go for all anniversaries and birthdays because we were willing to ‘try’ the restaurant. A lot of people are blocked by that word. But what you do get is a few people who associate macaroni with kids!
Change the name to Romano’s Grill and send out notices and run some ads in Facebook that Romano’s is the perfect ‘Night Out’ for every special occasion! Just my opinion. Love your restaurant!
Great food but our service was very poor. We had reservations about 15 minutes before a party of 50 arrived. Even though we were seated prior to them we did not receive any kind of service until after the party of 50 were seated, ordered their drinks, etc. Very disappointing as it’s hard for me to get my fiancé to try something new and then this happened. Needless to say due to the service I will not be going back.
Sunday dinner at 6pm. Restaurant was out of pizza dough and porterhouse steak. Party of 10 people and initially only one loaf of bread brought to the table. Had to ask for balsamic vinegar. Food was brought out for 9 people and the 10th person had to wait over 5min for his meal. Then when we were done had to wait for server to bring boxes for leftovers then had to wait for check. There was a big party that came in after us (>30) but does not make up for poor service from our server. She had other tables but restaurant was not that busy when we got there and she was not as attentive as other servers that I have had at this restaurant before. Once management knew we were getting upset than we received lots of attention. Between being out of items on the menu and poor service will probably not go back.
David, the manager was very involved in making sure our party was taken care of. Holly provided us with great service. Will request Holly for our next party. Thank you.
Delicious food! We all had the penne rustica great manager took care of us! We loved this place.
Nothing to tell
Went for Mother’s Day hoping for a nice brunch. Special Mother’s Day menu looked great and prices were reasonable. Unfortunately it was down hill from there. Service was horrible. Waitress forget to put in wifes Bloody Mary twice. Food showed up at different times, 15 minutes apart and was luke warm. Eggs were runny when requested well done. Waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time. Would understand if it was busy, but when we arrived it was only approx 50% of capacity. To top it off she got food poising from the lobster bisque.
Stay away, we will certainly never go back.
Not sure why we waited to be seated when only 20% of tables were full, if that. Service was awful. Lunch took two hours for 3 of us. We were given plastic spoons for our desserts, told "...because all of the issues." - ! This place needs to get its act together.
Reservation for 7:30 pm.. arrived at 7:15. With lots of open tables, we weren’t seated until 8:00 pm. No food came until 8:30. Delicious but service is as many other reviewers wrote. Something’s not right here.
I’ve always loved Macaroni Grill! They used to put the Chianti bottle of wine on your table, baskets of bread, delicious food Not anymore the food is under par
Food was cold. Sent it back and still too cold. Ordered a salad and never got it.
Food was subpar. Half the calms in my dish were not cook throughly (did not open) and waited 20 minutes for our drinks (considering the restaurant was only a quarter filled)
Nice waiter. But in a rush. We had wine, salad, food and desert and out in 45 mins. We had him take our main dish back because we just has gotten our salad.
Had a great family birthday dinner at Macaroni Grill in Fresno - the staff was fantastic!
We waited over an hour for our food to come. Prior to our entees arriving we were given two unsliced bread rolls on a salad plate — for a party of 8. While we were waiting for dinner, waters were not refilled and no reason for the delay in receiving our meals was given. When we asked about the delay we were told that the kitchen was running out of food to prepare — in fact three pasta orders were changed by our waiter because of the lack of a type of pasta.
When our dinners arrived, two meals were cold and one was missing a key ingredient.
Not a good way to celebrate a special birthday.
PS-both the men’s and women’s restrooms were overdue for cleaning
This place was horrible the server was very slow. It wasn’t really that busy, we waited 30 minutes before having a waiter come to our table and that was because we called one over. We had to keep reminding them what they went to go find out. The food was bad. It was cold. Nothing was done about it. Bread was hard. Never coming there again.
Wow. How far this place has fallen since the “Romano” takeover. Made a reservation for 8pm on Valentine’s Day. Seated at 840. Took another 30 minutes for our waitress to even come by to ask for drinks. Served our appetizers, soup/salad and main dish all within 5 minutes of each other. Soup was cold and gritty. Had ordered medium cooked porterhouse steak. What arrived was Charred Brussels sprouts that disintegrated into crispy shards when picked up and meat was a toasted 1 centimeter brick. Gristle over the every edge of the meat except the side with bone! Awful service, even when by 10pm+ when the food actually came to the table and the restaurant was half empty. Waitress came by perhaps twice and apologized for the delays each time and gave us 25% off the order . Left my entree 3/4 un-eaten, paid and got out of there. Stopped at In N Out on the way home. Needless to say won’t be going there again.
Went there on Valentine's Day. Had a 7:45 PM reservation and checked in at 7:30 PM. The place was packed, so I knew I wouldn't get seated at 7:45 PM. At 8:00 PM, the hostess told me they were still working on 7:30 PM reservations. I spotted some seats at the bar, so my wife and I sat there and ordered drinks and food. The bartender, Kimberly, and a helper were doing their best to keep up with all the orders. Kimberly was always friendly, and even though she was super busy, always had time to make everyone feel welcome. The food took a while to get to us, and Kimberly made sure that we had bread, etc. Dave, the Manager, helped out when needed, and was equally friendly. The food was good. The sides and appetizer were very good. We had tiramisu for dessert. I don'k know if it was made on site, but it was much better than I had expected, and the portion was more than enough to satisfy two of us. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our dinner. Kimberly and Dave should be commended for keeping a great attitude on such a busy night.
Left us sitting for 40 minutes over our reservation time, and then it was well more than an hour until our food came out. After the restaurant was closed (and we were still waiting), they gave me an obviously rare steak when I asked for medium, and brought the wrong dish completely for my wife. Whole restaurant was filled with smoke. Extremely loud kitchen area (open kitchen) with yelling. Waiter/waitress staff running around confusedly like no one had a dedicated job or had any idea how to handle a crowd. We won't be back.
Aaron was amazing. Even in such a busy night, he managed to keep us happy
We made reservations at 7 p.m. on Valentine's Day and we didn't get our food until 2 hours later
We waited an hour before leaving. We had a 7 PM reservation and by 7:45 we were too hungry to keep waiting.
Yes but not for Valentine’s Day ,it was way too busy took almost 2 hours to get my food and when I did get it ,it had been sitting for a long time it was barely warm . Pasta was “sticky” instead of my Alfredo sauce being creamy
My wife and I went to Macaroni Grill for Valentine’s Day dinner to try their special 3 course menu for the holiday. Fortunately we had a reservation because the place was packed with lots of people waiting in the lobby area. After waiting about 15 minutes past our reservation time I went back up to the hostess station and was then immediately seated. I found this a bit odd, especially after observing the exact same thing happen with another couple a few minutes earlier. After ordering our food and enjoying the excellent bread and our salads we proceeded to wait for our meals. And wait, and wait, and wait. After almost an hour, a manager stopped by to check in with us. He was very nice and proceeded to explain somewhat apologetically, that Open Table had messed up and grossly overbooked the number of reservations sent to them. We did finally get our meals and the food was excellent as always. I will say that the staff at Macaroni Grill was faced with a difficult situation that seemed to be not of their own doing and was doing their best to deal with the situation in a professional manner.
Music seemed different and loud, but everything else was perfect!
There was a longer-than-usual wait in service because OpenTable had double booked reservations and the place was packed.
Food too so long that we had to cancel it and leave. The waitress was great but doesn't matter much if you never get your food.
Food great. Reservation made our valentine's day less stressful. Wine selections are not that amazing. But overall would come again
Server was nice, but seemed to be distracted. Had to ask for basalmic vinegar several times before we got it. Asked for lemon several times before we got it. My son asked for a beer several times before he got it. Pizza came very greasy. Entrees were cold. Those who ordered meatballs had to wait an unreasonably amount of time. My sons entree did not get delivered until well after the rest of us were done eating....and never got the meatballs. Manager did comp 3 meals, but for a birthday celebration, this was an unfortunate meal. Will not be returning.
Overall our experience was very good, the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Stuffed Mushrooms were excellent choices for appetizers. The entree servings were generous and we each took a portion home. I would highly recommend the delicious Braised Lamb Shank I didn't mark excellent on service because we waited beyond a reasonable period of time to close out our check, otherwise Victoria provided excellent service. Macaroni Grill in Fresno is one of our favorite restaurants, and we visit frequently.
During this past visit, we had a party of 25 or so. The greeting form hostess was meh. As if to say we don't really care that you're going to rack up a bill of ~$500. We waited because table was not set up. Could not get drinks in dining room with happy hour prices. We had to get up and get our own drinks from bar to get happy hour price. When food came out, ALL of it was cold. The server asked if we wanted to get food as it was prepared so we said yes. By then, it obviously had sat for a LONG time. The most disappointing item was the (2) $35 steaks we ordered. They did not come prepared as requested, they were cold, and did not come served as advertised ( with butter), I had to ask for butter and it would not melt because steak was so cold. I also think that the server should have taken it upon herself to get our drinks form the bar and bring them to us. We left her a $65-$70 gratuity for the mediocre service. Hopefully they will read this and their management can encourage them to provide a service worthy of a gratuity, let alone a large amount as the one we left her. We also tipped the bartender close to $40 that day. The bar service was pretty good.
Food and atmosphere were great! Service not so much. Waiter didn't ask if anyone wanted soup or salad with their meal. He was quick to bring my son another soda when he drank half of it but when mine was empty he didn't even bother.
I went here for New Year’s Eve and as always it was delicious! They was 8 of us and the food still came out quick and make beautifully. Definitely recommend the tiramisu here also!
Waitress kind of made it known she was not happy to be there other than that everything else was great
When I arrived at the Macaroni Grill, there was no reservation. When I explained I made a reservation and that it was confirmed, Macaroni Grill said, "Oh, you must have made a reservation with OpenTable which means I had no reservation". Macaroni Grill said OpenTable was overbooking purposely on Christmas and New Years Day (the day I made an Opentable reservation) and that anyone who booked on these dates didn't have a reservation. I ended up having to wait for a table as the OpenTable reservation was non-existent. Absurd. A big thumbs down for Open Table.
Food was just bad and very expensive. Felt ignored by the waiter. I used to come here every year for my birthday dinner because I liked it so much. I feel like it got worse.
