Romano's Macaroni Grill - Desert Ridge

We waited for 30 minutes to have a waiter come to our table. Food was just okay.
The whole experience from the moment my family and I walked through the door was less than pleasurable.
At 7p on a Saturday, we were informed they did not have anymore of their house red wine and when we asked for an alternative, the waiter indicated they were out of that as well. When we finally were able to place our dinner order we were told they were out of certain menu items including lasagna and capellini (an Italian restaurant out of lasagna at 7p on a Saturday night is not a good thing).
We asked to speak with the manager and assistant manager multiple times but were told they were not available.
When it was time to receive our bill we requested to speak with a manager again and were told manager would not speak to us. There was no apology at all for our experience and we were charged for the entire meal. Nothing offered to try to offset the miserable night.
All my family and I wanted was to enjoy what was once a great restaurant and this experience will make it very difficult to ever go back.
Server was sweet but inept. Could not remember anything. No balsamic on the table.
Food was dreadful.
We had starters of fried calamari and caprese. Calamari was greasy and limp, barely warm. Caprese sloppily presented with browning basil leaves.
Entrees just as bad. My usual Shrimp Portofino was made with a thick stiff spaghetti instead of a delicate angel
hair pasta which simply did not work with the dish , and my date wanted lasagna, which they were out of, and settled for spaghetti and meatballs. Honestly his sauce tasted like the kitchen has opened a can of unseasoned crushed tomatoes and dumped it on the pasta.
As a last insult, I used the ladies room before leaving. The floor was covered in toilet paper and paper towels, literally covered. The toilet paper in the stall was not mounted in its holder and had fallen on the wet dirty floor. Disgusting.
Although the restaurant was not crowded, we waited more than 1 hour before our order was taken. The food took another hour before being served. When asked, the waiter did not have any answers, only kept bringing us break, and no-one who worked at the restaurant seemed to know what was going on. Multiple other tables walked out without eating/paying. We asked to see the manager but she never came to the table - and she avoided us as we left! She appeared frazzled and unable to direct the staff to any tasks which might help. What was even worse, there was a large table (20 people) from a sports team who came 1 hour after we did but were served before us! This is the second time this has happened at Romano's Macaroni Grill and we will not be returning. Given the multiple other dining establishments in the same area, there are plenty of other choices! My guess...this restaurant will be out of business within the year.
This was a horrible experience! We arrived before our time and then proceeded to wait an extra half hour after our reservation time. Once seated the service was so slow and not keeping up to normal speed. Our meal took 1 1/2 hours to get!! We had to leave so ended up taking it to go!!
Bread was only brought once and our only drinks we had were waters and were not filled up but once!
So highly disappointed by this horrible experience especially on a special night with my date.
This was my favorite restaurant for my wife. We had a reservation at 745pm, we showed up at 730, and we didnt get seated until 8pm. We ordered our food at 815 and didnt get served until 930pm. After waiting over an hour for our food my chicken parmesan was dry and my fettuccine noodles were not cooked all the way they were hard. We waited for a disappointing meal. We wasted over two hours at your restaurant for nothing. Completely disappointed.
We were there for Valentine's Day my only memory of it is chaos. They were understaffed and the servive was horrible. I'd made reservations and did not get seated until an hour later as they were behind schedule. We waited another hour after ordering our food and we ended up eating at almost 10pm. I will not be returning after this experience.
A 7:15 reservation that was made a week in advance. As of 9:25 that evening, still was not served main dish
prices okay for the food; calamari a bit soggy but enjoyed the company of my s/o and for that, the price wasn’t too much of a big deal. Might not go back again due to the distance, but server was nice and apologetic
Macaroni Grill on Valentines Day was a quite a fiasco. It is a large restaurant with good food and good ambiance, but the kitchen was unable to meet the demands of all of their seated tables. The wait for food was 1-2 hours, and if you didnt drink, it was way too long and certainly not worth it. Turns out the kitchen was busy with To-Go orders, and they put their seated guests on the back burner because of take out.
Desert Ridge is quite a drive for us. Sadly, I doubt I will ever make that drive again, certainly not for Macaroni Grill.
It was a Valentines Day dinner with just certain items available and the place was packed. Our meal was fine but not great and our server walked off the job before delivering our desserts and coffee. Fortunately, we love the Macaroni Grill at regular times so yes we recommend it and yes we will definitely be back!
Terrible waiter, took 20 minutes before we even got water. Then the food took another hour before we received our food. Almost left & went somewhere else. The people behind us waited over 1 1/2 hr for their food.
We arrived on time for our reservation (which I appreciate because it was Valentines day) and were seated by the host. Our waitress was prompt, gave us our menus and explained the specials, and delivered our waters then took our drink order. When our drinks arrived we ordered. Our reservation time was 5:30pm, and our order was taken about 6ish, which was fine. Then things deteriorated. Our salads arrived and we asked the waitress to hold our food order until we were at least half done with our salads. Our pet peeve is having the meal delivered shortly after the salads...
We waited until about 7pm before our meal was delivered, the waitress couldn't explain or understand what had happened. Now the food was delicious, but there was certainly something wrong in the kitchen or with the attending process as we noted a number of tables that waited a long time for their food also. Our experience with Romano's Restaurants in other cities has been very good but this experience certainly didn't meet our expectations.
The menu was very good and the food we ordered was tasty. It was Friday at lunch and the restaurant was not at all busy. I'm hoping this was just an off day, but the service was definitely lacking. It took a while to confirm our reservation and get seated. It took a long time to get water. We were given the dinner menu at noon, and then the staff seemed confused about bringing us the lunch menus. The food was well-prepared but took a very long time to arrive. The lunch-sized portions were very small for an Italian restaurant so the value wasn't there compared to other places.
Food, service and atmosphere excellent. Always enjoys the experience.
Awful dinner, service was atrocious
It wasn’t crowded, and while I wouldn’t call the service bad, it was average at best. The good was great though.
We had made reservations but the hostess told us we have to wait to see if they can seat us. Very rude hostess. After waiting to be seated, we waited 20 minutes for a waiter to come. Our waiter was nice but didn’t bring our food or drink as requested. Seemed like he needed reminders to bring what we had asked for.
The food was terrible. No one in our party was happy with the taste of their food.
Under our table was dirty with previous guests food everywhere.
Always a good place to go for Italian food.
It was OK. Food was mediocre. Service was nothing special!
Four of us for dinner. Three entries very good. Chicked Marsala very bad. Service was OK.
The service was terrible. No full silverware, had to ask for straws. Spaghetti overcooked.
Ordered coffee that was served cold and was old.
We eat at Macaroni Grill a lot and generally have a great experience. This last time the prices had increased (food and drink), the rice dish served with the entrees had changed and was not as good as the previous one, and our server (Sydnee) did not seem to be in a very festive mood. She really did not seem to be interested in us. After our meal (2 couples) I asked her to give us 2 separate checks and she said no problem and to let her know if anything was incorrect. We got a total of three incorrect checks before she finally delivered our correct check. When she brought the third attempt, she stated "let me read it to you...", implying that the previous incorrect attempts were somehow my fault. This third attempt was completely wrong and included everything for all four of us. We will return because this one experience was inconsistent with our previous visits and hopefully we will get a different server.
We have been to Macaroni Grill many times over the years. While the quality of the food has been consistently good, it seems the service and wait times have gotten worse over the years. We were seated for over 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table. And then before we could get two bites down on our salads, the entrees arrived. Not sure we will be going back much in the future.
I already sent a detailed message online to macaroni grill
It's one of our favorites and last Saturday was no exception. It was much busier than usual, however the service was still prompt and attentive. The food is always good and we like the ambiance of the room.
We waited over 20 minutes to be greeted. We were only waited on because we went and got a manager. We would have left but it was Christmas, and we were from out of town, and didnt have any other options. They “lost” our food ticket. It took 2 hours to get out meal. Will never go back. No wonder all these restaurants are closing.
It was a horrible experience for most of the people in my group
Our fault for making reservations on Christmas Day, but due to work schedules, we made them. The reservations were for 6 pm and we arrived at 530 pm to complete chaos. Understandable as it was one of only a few restaurants open today. We checked in and waited patiently. At around 5:50 we touched base with the hostess again who advised that realistically we wouldn’t be sat until 6:30. By 6:45, we were ushered to an incredibly cramped table littered with dirty plates and no silverware. Upon being seated, we passed the dirty plates to the host who told us they weren’t dirty, just wet from the dishwasher. We pointed out the stuck on food and stray noodles and he reluctantly gathered the plates. Right after him, a young man named Robert came up behind me with a canister of forks and a canister of knives. He looked at me, but said nothing, and then walked away. Five minutes later, he returned and set the canisters down on the table and said, “Here, take these.” My sister noticed him for the first time and was confused and asked him to repeat himself. He replied, “If you want to eat, you need to use these. Take them,” and then set them down in front of her and stood there staring at her. We were stunned. Shortly after, he left and our waitress finally arrived. We only spoke with her a short amount of time but she was lovely. She informed us that it would be at lease 1-1.5 hours before the food would be ready. At that point, we had reached our limit. We called it, thanked her for her time, and left at 7:30 p.m., 1.5 hours after our reservations. We will never be back - and quite honestly the only reason we booked it was due to the limited choices for open restaurants. As we were driving to the next restaurant (delicious, memorable meal, by the way), I checked Open Table again and discovered that they were still taking reservations for the night! That angered me because I can only assume that many families had miserable Christmas Day experiences due to this restaurant.
Showed up for 5:45pm reservation and the place was in chaos. People were standing everywhere waiting . The restaurant was obviously overwhelmed and understaffed. Names of people were not being called nor were reservations being managed. A couple who'd made a reservation for 7pm arrived at 4pm and were seated before us. It appeared that those who stood by the hostess podium were being seated regardless of what time they had a reservation . After about 45 minutes we gave up and left. So much for a nice Christmas evening dinner.
Horrible service the waiter could not handle multiple tables did not have any water had to ask 3 times did not have any utensils the appetizer was burnt. all the workers were very unhappy to be there they defenetly did not have any motivation to work very unhappy atmosphere and it certainly looked like the host and waiters did not care . Would not eat there again and would not recommend to anyone and the food was not worth the price overly advertised .and other people there had the same experience. Even though it was very busy and Christmas day.the owner of the restaurant should have trained his crew better and be prepared for that day he defenetly should not be in the restaurant business he does not know how to run a restaurant just wants the money coming in .very very dissatisfied.
Went in Christmas Day and had reservations and still had to wait for 30 minutes before being seated. Waitress was not very nice and twice the food came to the table was cold. Asked for bread and was told was still in the oven and the second time we asked where our bread was the waitress got snippy and said “I told you it is still in the oven baking” yet other waiters where serving bread to people that had just sat down. And the food was not as good as it usually is
Had Christmas lunch here, special menu at $25/person was amazing. Had salmon with side pasta dish, Ceasar salad and desert, plenty and delish! Great service, thank you Macaroni Grill for an outstanding experience.
We had a reservation for 6:30 made on Christmas Eve, excited to take my dad out who had just been discharged from 2 weeks in the hospital. Unfortunately, on arrival at 6:30, we were told there were no tables and that there would be a 20-30 minute wait. We waited in the bar and inquired again at 7:00 to be told "no one is getting up" since it was Christmas Eve (...exactly why we made a reservation!). The staff was accommodating once seated, but it was frustrating to have had to wait 30 minutes with my fatigued dad when we had a prior reservation and not much/no accountability taken by the restaurant. Hope they will organize better for the crowd next year - was a wonderful holiday dinner with live piano to make the night even better! Our server ended up being amazing!
The service is great, the restaurant has a lovely ambiance as long as it is not so packed (as it was on Christmas Eve) that you did not have to yell to hear each other. The food was very bland and for the prices they charge I expected the food to be much better.
Christmas dinner with the family!!!
Great service and food was delicious. Great atmosphere for a family dinner.
A very satisfying meal and reasonable prices - house wine very good, Caesar salad one of the tastiest anywhere, included bread is hard to stop eating and removes any desire for dessert. Main course selection is varied. Dinged food one star because chicken dish was supposed to have cheese but didn't. Service by Mikey was very attentive and entertaining.
Nice decor.....doesn't feel like a typical chain type restaurant. Great service, very good food. We'll be going back.
