Birthday dinner with family
This was my first time dinning at a Macaroni Grill. It was a very clean and pleasant experience. I got the mushroom raviloi and my party tried the Fried mac and cheese bites and moterzella sticks. I have since signed up for the promotional specials as was quick in and out dinning but not fast food. At 5 on a weekday.
I visited Macaroni Grill - UNCC on a slow Tuesday night. Upon arriving, my date and I waited a few minutes to be seated, which would have been fine under normal circumstances, but the restaurant was not busy at all. When the hostess finally surfaced, she walked us to our table and informed us that our server would be right with us. We glanced over the menu to decide on what we wanted to eat, and patiently waited for our server to greet us, however the server never came. We waited for several more minutes before we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. We went to a restaurant no more than 2 minutes away and were seated and greeted immediately. Macaroni Grill - UNCC should focus on their customer service in order to ensure they do not lose any more valuable customers.
Good food. Good service. Would recommend for a group outing.
Slow Sunday brunch. Service was good but the food to a long time to cook.
Waited 10 minutes for someone to show up at hostess stand
waited another 10 minutes to be seated
waited 15 minutes for waitress to show up and take drink order
waited THIRTY minutes for appetizer to come out (stuffed mushrooms)
waited another 15 minutes for food to come out
(Over an hour before food showed up at table from time we walked in)
waited 10 minutes to get check
food was good, service sucked
waitress was nice, but we had to wait excessively for EVERYTHING
they weren't even that busy
prob wont be back
Enjoyed the atmosphere and its ambiance. Lights were dimmed to display a comfortable setting for the evening.
We had a server who was training (no big deal) and our actual waitresses who was assigned to our table. Took awhile for us to get our drinks, the bread for the table and to place our food orders.
The booth we were sitting in, the ceiling was leaking so it kept dropping water on the seats.
The service was so slow. We never got refills and the server poured olive oil on the plates for our table of 7 and didn’t pass the second plate around after sticking her finger in the oil. The meatballs were older and reheated to a burnt crisp. Later that night my husband and I both suffered from intestinal issues.
Brought a party of 14 together for a family dinner. We made reservations through OpenTable & the restaurant had to know we would be there & to be prepared (or so you would think).
It was 6pm dinner, so we were there fairly early. Yet, they were "out" of chicken parmigan. So the 3 family member who ordered it (including me) had to pick something else. The server seemed to forget that we were in the back room, and disappeared for long periods of time. One of our meals didn't come out until everyone had already finished eating. Another meal never came at all.
Our drinks were empty more than they weren't. The "unlimited" soup and we will never be back. There are SO many choices in the UNCC/University area - why would you ever come to this restaurant. Go elsewhere.
Our reservations were for 7:30, we arrived at 7:25 and were seated right away. We then waited 10 minutes before anyone came over to us. Our server, Diamond, after finally greeting us, paid very little attention to us throughout the entire meal. I even had to go to the bar to order and wait for our second round of drinks. She saw me up there and came over only to let me know our food was at the table, NOT to offer to bring the drinks over. I had to wait for them and carry myself while my food got cold. She told my husband it took so long for our food to come out because the kitchen had to remake it 3 times. I doubt that as there were only 10 tables in the entire restaurant on a Saturday Night! She also said that the manager would be over to talk to us about why the food took so long. That never happened. The entire ridiculous experience took almost 2 hours and simply served to remind me why we rarely go out to dinner. I called the restaurant after we got home but really didn't feel like the manager even cared.
Sevice was horrible. The hostess seemed preoccupied and ask someone else to sit us. The waitress must have been new because she knew only one meal and that was the salmon her nephew comes there to eat. She never had anything we asked about. We waited and waited and waited for the appetizer. Disgusting Shrimp Portofino, felt like glue. The building is old looking and smelling An awful experience. Not going back, that is for sure!
We sat for a while before we were noticed. The Drink menu was the old menu so when we were ready to order our drinks we had to get different menus. even though we put in reservations it took the waitress a long time to even bring us water and even when she would refill the Olive oil she didn't bring any bread. I should a known it was a sign when they're were 12 people in a chain like this on Father's Day me and my family will not be going back. When even had to take my father to another place to eat smh
Lasagna-ice cold in the middle, very little meat; used to be my husband’s favorite at macaroni grill.
Fettuccine Alfredo w chicken-fair, chicken was precooked slices-not fresh and not warm
Salad with chicken-horrible-lettuce was slimy and not fresh, chicken was same precooked slices as on fettuccine, asked for no garbanzo beans and found a few. Not that it was difficult to pick them out, but it shows that the salad was pre-made and the beans were removed prior to serving. Not good for a $13 salad. I pulled out the beans and started removing the slimy pieces of lettuce when I saw no hope of finding a good bite of salad. I gave up and ate my children’s dinners with them.
We do not have a Macaroni Grill in our home town, so we were excited to get to eat there again while traveling after not having it for a year.
The restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday at 7:30pm which was great bc no waiting. We soon found out why...
The furniture was worn as was the woodwork in the restaurant. There were ceiling tiles with bad water damage near the fireplace and our table. The bathrooms were in bad shape and not clean.
The food was so disappointing. Macaroni Grill needs an overhaul.
I do not recommend this restaurant at all. It was awful.
Although food was ok, it was served colder than normal and ingredients such as garlic were raw and not incorporated to the sauce. Service was lacking and waiter was codial, bur needed to hunt her down for refills, etc. It was a birthday and they comp'd one dessert which was nice.
Food was just okay, high price
The place wasn't bad at all. The dish I had which was the Butternut Tortellacci which was pretty good. It was a quick lunch - prices are decent and the service was very good. Thank you!
The restaurant was only about 1/3 full. The service was extremely slow and very inattentive. The food was mediocre at best. One chicken entree was cold and had to be sent back. Another entree had chicken and the chicken was chewy. It has been about a year since I had been to this restaurant and it has clearly gone downhill. We won’t be going back.
All went fairly well, except person in my party found a large piece of plastic bag in his salad. Not good!
The wait time was a little long in spite of having a reservation. Once we were seated it took about 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. The meal was ok. We were disappointed overall.
Disappointed in food. Meals aren’t customizable and limited alternatives and/or sides
We went on mother’s day so it was a given they would be busy but the place was a mess. My feet stuck to the floor, the food was over priced and not done well. Two of our bowls/plates where dirty and not just a little dirty. Over all I had hoped for way better because I had good experiences at other macaroni grills but the University location would best be served by burning it down and starting over
Food took a very long time arriving and some of us were finished before others got their food. Bathrooms were very messy. It was mother's day, but not too crowded when we were there so no reason for the slow service. We will not be back. It's a shame. This used to be a decent location.
Our server, Lea (hopefully I got that right), was incredible. We had a table for 11 people and the service could not have been better. This was our son's UNCC graduation weekend, and this dinner was perfect. Thank you Lea for making this such a great experience !!
Excellent food that is reasonably priced plus our server was excellent with his recommendations for food, drinks and desserts! Love this place.
We had a large party and the service was efficient. A few items we slow to come out from the kitchen.
Servers and kitchen were disorganized. We had a party of 17. Four people in our party were served after 30mins after the other were served. While the server did apologize about the delay. However, no manager came to the table discuss the matter. No offer was made to discount the meals that were late. The restaurant crew acted like the service was no big deal. In the past end the service was sub par and unprofessional. A lot young young adults with no proper professional food service training.
We enjoyed having Easter brunch together at Romano’s the service was good and the food was great!
The service was great!!! The food was a little delayed and my chicken did not taste good. The rest of the food was good and the desert was amazing.
The manager was very busy taking care of multiple tasks. It appeared that the kitchen was short-staffed. While our food didn't take an excessive amount of time, the tables around us each had major issues with their food coming out on time and as they had ordered. The food was average. I would not recommend friends hurry to dine at Macaroni Grill.
This is the worst Macaroni Grill I have ever been to. The floor throughout the restaurant was filthy. Service was scattered. Appetizers were cold. Despite it being a VERY busy Saturday night elsewhere, this restaurant had plenty of tables open. There is a reason for that. We noticed other servers providing things for their customers that we had to ask and wait for. Our server was very nice, but considering that there wasn't a ton of people dining, the service should have been more on point. Salads looked like they were just thrown on the plate. My shrimp dish was mostly pasta, probably at least 6 servings worth. The actual star of the dish was very much lacking. Parmesan Fries had very little Parmesan and burnt herbs. The overall atmosphere of other Macaroni Grill restaurants is very nice....if this restaurant could fix their issues, it would could be a very nice experience.
Needs to be cleaner even thought rating was 96 I always check
The service was terrible to start; we had to walk over to the hostess to ask who our server was! We had to ask for bread. We order Captain this was the second time we have had poor service and unacceptable food. BtW the restaurant was not busy, lots of empty tables, we didn’t need to make OpenTable reservations. On top of that the staff were standing around, hutlled up just talking.
It was difficult being seated. Food was cold. For being 7pm it was a great eating environment.
Been there a few times and food had been good up until this visit. My wife ordered a pizza and it was undercooked. She also wanted spinach on it and it was one leaf of spinach hidden under a pepperoni. I totally mad the mistake of ordering the Italian meatloaf. Too soggy and slightly undercooked. My mixed veggies had three pieces of zucchini, a few peppers, and the rest was all onions. We were in a hurry so we did not make too big of a deal about anything.
Everything was great except our waitress did not get my order entirely correct. Overall a great experience and will come back.
I love the way they still made sure our needs were met even though they had a big party so I waitress needed help. They sent help by any means and we enjoyed my sons birthday dinner.
This was the worst experience ever. There was more staff than patrons and yet we waiters for menus, drinks, received cold food, and had just terrible service. The employees were not attentive and the management was impossible to be found. I will never go back there again.
For lunch the food was good and the value was good. Service was a bit mixed up with soups , salads and
main dishes arriving out of order.
Checks were wrong for most in our party as we were charged dinner prices instead of lunch prices.
This whole process took way too long, luckily we were not in a rush
This was ok. I haven't had Macaroni Grill in years and decided for my birthday this year I wanted to go back. When it comes to the food.... it was just ok. Nothing to write home about. The Carmela's chicken was my favorite in the past so I got it again. It definitely needed more sauce. It was supposed to be a creamy sauce, but there was barely anything in there. Plus, there wasn't a lot of food. Usually you can take a little bit of leftovers home, but not this time. As for the service, she was also just ok. We got our food in a relatively reasonable time, but she asked us if we wanted cheese (which who wouldn't?!) and it took her 10 minutes to bring it. By then we were already almost done eating. I got a dessert to go, nd while the taste was good, it look like a lump of yellow blob. It was definitely not visually appealing. Unfortunately, I feel like the food and service were just not good enough for the price we paid (we even had a coupon and it still didn't seem worth it). I got the craving out of my system, but I probably wont go back.
The hostess was very helpful, I asked for a table away from the front door area, it was cold, sleeting and
a miserable day. She set our table in the room with the fireplace, we were very comfortable. I would highly recommend your restaurant to others... and our lunch bunch ladies will be back.
