Braised Lamb Shank*
tender braised lamb shank, marsala demi-glace, buttermilk mashed potatoes
First off, we had a great, great waiter.
He had to be, as it turned out... (Read on.)
Second, we felt safe --- all employees were masked and the place was at 25% capacity...with plenty of room between tables, although I did see 2 occupied tables fairly close together, so that was puzzling --- they didn't seem to be together, but they must have been.
The noise level and cleanliness were very good.... To be expected at 25% capacity.
Our waiter (Jame) was friendly and helpful. He promptly brought over our water and wine, bread, and a Pepsi, Friendly conversation throughout..
Then something happened in the kitchen. Twice.
First, our appetizer order (stuffed mushrooms) got delayed when they came out of the kitchen looking sad and unappetizing so they redid them.
Then someone screwed up the order... they didn't get around to fixing ours for a good 3/4 hour, and when it arrived my pasta was kind of sad...not cold, but a little on the mushy side. In the end they took dollars off the bill, and provided a free Tiramisu but I would have preferred paying for faster and better prepared....We gave James a good tip because he deserved it, keeping us entertained and apolgizing and explaining about the delay on our food.
Which, looking at other reviews, seems to be a common problem here.
We've been to Macaroni Grills before but this was our first visit to the one in Cerritos. All our usual locations, like the one in Simi Valley, have closed. Except for the waiter and hostess, this first experience at the Cerritos location were not stellar. Still we'll make allowances for Covid since there is probably a smaller staff in the kitchen.
We'll give them another try. We have $100 in gift cards to use up!
They seemed to be short staffed. Practicing social distancing was extending our wait time to be seated. Food was ok. The service was good but they seemed overwhelmed. Probably could’ve used another pair of hands
Food was hugely overpriced, in my opinion. $145.00 for 3 people who ordered pasta & salad seemed high. Probably wouldn’t go back given the large selection of Italian food options there are.
I’ve seen cleaner bathrooms in the movie “Trainspotting” and most bars in TJ. YUK!!!!!!
Food was good, service was good, value not so much.
We came here for my birthday and had a pleasant experience. Our server had a trainee and they were both great and very attentive. Would definitely come back!
Food was delicious, staff were great, ambiance cozy!
Foods always tasty and the staff always welcoming.
Create your own pasta is always a great choice, Bibb and Blue salad is also a favorite. Great as always.
Excellent service with excellent tasting food. I had create your own pasta was delicious with basil mushrooms and mozzarella in spicy marinara, the crispy Brussels sprouts were on point and the Tiramisu melted in your mouth but the best part was the waiter sang my mom happy birthday in Italian !! I would highly recommend it’s a great choice for lunch or dinner celebration 🎊
Ordered the steak and potatoes , about 15 min in they notified us it had ran out , waitress was quite friendly , overall disappointing experience
The experience started very off I arrived on time for my reservation I was seated promptly. It took the server about 15 minutes to acknowledge me I told her that I was ready to order. I am a returning customer I hardly get carded here she asked for my ID I did not have it. I had it in the car and honestly parking was so far that I did not want to leave the restaurant to go get my ID so instead I just ordered a virgin cocktail. The server came back two times, Stating that without the alcohol the cocktails are Really just Soda and basil therefore I had to pick another one which I ultimately went for the frozen Balenie which was wonderful honestly it tasted better than it did with alcohol so I had no problem with that I accepted it was my fault And passed no judgment to the young lady. However the problems kept escalating there was people who had just been seated who had already received their peasant bread and oil. After having to ask her if she could please bring me some I still had to wait another 15 minutes for her to actually get to me. My reservation was at 3:45 PM I received my present bread At 4:15 now I know why it’s called peasant bread you have to beg for it! After she brought my meal out 10 minutes into my dining, She asked if I would need a box I waited more for her to serve me than I did for her to try and kick me out. When I finally asked for a box and the check she took another 15 to 18 minutes to complete that task so I started stocking my dirty plates and utensils on my own since I have nothing else to do. She finally came around took my payment and took another 10 minutes to give me my change. At this point I was fed up the whole experience was horrible not to mention that they had a very loud party which I know is out of their reach they can’t censor people but they should be in the capacity to take care of their guests. I usually tip Between 25 to 35% and I dine alone I think that is very fair for one person however she sis not deserve 1 dollar
I had the lamb my god let me tell it was sooooo delicious for lamb lovers service was great I recommend 👍🏼
Because of I assume is the pandemic, it was not crowded. The food was excellent and prepared perfectly. Service great and our waiter attentive without being pesky. Macaroni Grill is recommended.
Everything was great I come often Sunday the restrooms were filthy I noticed on my way out but did not comment I felt it unnecessary. Overall everything else is always 5 stars. Omg try the carbonara before it’s to late pair with frose
The service was excellent I’m for sure coming back and the food was delicious.
Great service, will definitely come back! The food was excellent as well.
Very good food. It was quick service but it could be because of the social distancing. Never disappointed when I dine here
Excellent food and service. My favorite lasagna bolognese and the chicken scalappini!
Always happy to go to this restaurant. Will go again.
Arrived early and happy to accommodate Us. Entire staff working hard. Thanks so much for Chris our awesome server👍

Food was not good, we won’t be going back.
Good food. Prompt and friendly service. Will go back.
Great experience and time at dinner with my friend. We will be back again 😊
Good service and food!would recommend to anyone food portions were large
My server attended to all my needs. I was a a very pleased customer.
Good service and good food
Service was excellent!
The food was good and our server was great. The only downside was that the espresso machine was broken so the only coffee they had was Keurig!
We were disappointed with how dirty the outside porch area was. The table was dirty, as well with the floors and walls. A simple pressure wash would work wonders. The food was ok. We ate here a year ago and it was much better.
First time in Romano’s and they never disappoint. Surely going to come back soon.
The waiter was the best brought everything at a timely manner and food was delicious.
I love this place. The staff is attentive and food is always great.
Dining room wasn’t open so we had to order food Togo and the food was bland
We enjoy our evening... services was great and food too.
Kudos to this location for providing a pleasant dining ambiance that conforms to currently mandated safety standards for both customers and staff.
The menu offers a good range of options.
The meals are generally not as well executed (small portions lacking in flavor and authenticity) as one would expect for the price.
Great food, great service
Got an email about first responders and health care workers able to get a free meal of meat balls and spaghetti for the month of October. Told all my coworkers ( I work in a pharmacy) and posted a copy of the email. I was so excited to go that I went that night (Tuesday). I haven't been in years. I used to love the Penne rustica dish, until they changed the recipe. I invited my client and made a reservation for 6:45. I arrived a few minutes early, and waited by the door for someone to greet us. That didn't happen. So, after about 3 minutes I went over to the girl bagging to go orders to say, we were there, but I don't think she heard me over the plexiglass. I would have to believe she saw us since we were standing in the open doorway. A man that had just walked up, said he'd help us. I gave him my name, and he asked me to wait a few minutes. We waited outside about 7 minutes before he called us in. I noticed there was one waiter, that was responsible for everyone one the patio. There were at least 12 people including us (5 or more parties). He took our drink order, said he'd be right back, then disappeared for about 10 minutes. I caught him as he was passing by to ask if we could order our food, and if we could have straws. He took our order. It was about 7 minutes later before I could catch him to ask for a straw again, which he had in his apron. I ordered brussels sprouts and the spaghetti. The sprouts were good. The spaghetti was horrible. The sauce was flavorless and the pasta was mushy, as if it were overcooked. I ate about 4 bites of it, then asked for a to go container, thinking I could add to the flavor at home. We had been there at least 30 minutes before we got our food. I was so disappointed, as I had been excited about this meal all day. I regretted that I had spread the word to all of my coworkers. I don't know if the cook was having a bad day, or if the plate sat in the kitchen too long, but I was extremely disappointed. I won't go back.
Great service, fast food type quality food. I will never eat here again..
The food was delicious, and the service and staff were amazing.
