Waitress had to help cook food, bus tables etc. literally no staff. The waitress was wonderful but had to do everything. Some people left without paying.

Our server, Vivi did an excellent job. We had a reservation for 8 and our table was ready and waiting for us upon arrival. The food however, was disappointing and not the quality we had experienced on previous visits.

My first time dining at Macaroni Grill....was a very underwhelming experience. I always had the impression it was a nicer place than an Olive Garden and I was very wrong! First, they had no coffee as they were waiting on a shipment per the waitress. In my food service experience, you run to smart and final and buy some so patrons can have coffee. Second, they had no spoons unless you wanted plastic to go spoons. We asked the waitress why they had no spoons and she joked people must be throwing them away. Third, while the bread was late getting to the table but fresh out of the oven (very tasty) the side of alfredo sauce for a table of 3 was served in a small plastic to-go ramekin. Lastly, food was lack luster in taste, the plating looked like a kid did it and was unappealing, mashed potatoes were flat and runny on the plate and food took forever to come out even though the place was not even close to busy. Not sure how long this place will be around but I have no plans to ever return.

Made reservations for fathers day. Had a little mishap with our order but Jenn went above and beyond to rectify the issue. We will definitely come again. Food was excellent, portions fair but service was top notch.

We had a reservation which I made 2 weeks in advance. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time at 6:30. We were seated about 12 mins later. Our order was taken pretty quickly. After we ordered we were told that the wait time was a little longer because they were busy. I thought ok, but never did I think it would take 1 hour and half for pasta. I wont be going back on a busy night like that again. No thank you.

It was xmas night. we were 15 mins late. I called from the car to let them know and got hung up on. when I arrived, she wouldn't seat us cuz we were late. 85 yr old mom and hubby waiting in car. finally said we could come in but had to order immediately -- ok, fine with that. sat down and ord'd wine; she says, no, u can't have wine. it's 1 min after 8. the place was still pretty full. Employees were rude as h--- so we left. I get it. it's xmas, but not being able to order wine w dinner; absolutely ridiculous and rude. she missed out on a big xmas tip if all had gone well. If you're going to work on xmas night, at least be nice.

Extremely slow and incompetent service — the restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs (seriously, how much more basic could that be). It wasn’t until the other two people with me were served (finally) that they told me the meatballs were still frozen and wouldn’t be ready for another 15 mins. Now this was just an everyday dinner out … just something basic. Wasn’t expecting anything more than a 2-3 star experience… no chance of that. To be fair the Shrimp Portofino, one of the lighter dishes, was really good and the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp met expectations.

Unfortunately Short staffed as a lot of other places, inside smelled like sewerage very badly, location looked clean beside the smell, staff was very courteous especially the one waitress they did have that day, but the food I had was distasteful.

We had a reservation at 8 and we was seated but the kitchen, the place was empty they could’ve sat us anywhere.. then we had to listen to the executive chef complain and talk down to the waitresses. We didn’t get our food until 930 by then we were fed up and just ask for food to go. so we was there a whole hour and a half before we got our food on top of that it was a waitress cooking or steak which then she said I hope they are not well done because we ask for them medium well. so that means she didn’t know what she was doing. The kitchen staff was so unprofessional I wouldn’t sit anyone by the kitchen

We had never tried this restaurant so we decided to do it. Well the place was about a 1/4 or less full. Our sever showed up quickly and took our appetizer order and drinks. Those came relatively quick. We placed our food order and the wait started. It was easily a 45 minute wait for our food. The server came back three times to apologize and we new it was the kitchen because we were close Enough to see it. They looked like they hustling but maybe just short handed. We finally got our food around 915 and we originally sat down at 745. The food tasted good so I guess it was worth it. The beer selection could be better.

Food was great and server was attentive to us. Service over all however and food times were slow. Restaurant was maybe a third full. Mainly when we arrived for Our reservation at 8 PM there was no host to greet us for 10 minutes before anyone said anything and all I heard is I’ll be right with you… It was 20 minutes before anyone got us started to honor the reservation… then waited a little bit longer for our table to be ready. This wouldn’t be a big deal if I had walked in but I had made a reservation and as a result we didn’t start our dinner till 8:30 PM a full half hour after our reservation start time.

Took Mom for Mother’s Day. On special holidays, we never typically have a high expectation of being overly serviced, as the staff tends to be overwhelmed with people that only go out for special occasions. That was NOT the case this Mother’s Day Sunday. We had 1 o’clock reservations, we were seated as soon as we got there at 1 o’clock. That was the 1st plus, as I expected there could be a bit of a wait. Next our server, Carley, was amazing! Always making sure we had what we needed. Never skipped a beat. Was on top of refills, without hesitation. For being an Italian restaurant, the steak special was out of this world! The steak was cooked to perfection, thanks to the watchful eye of the manager. She made sure our meal was delivered hot, and the steak was cooked to the right temperatures. It was a great day to celebrate Mom! And thanks to the macaroni grill, we had a great meal and a wonderful afternoon! We give this restaurant an A++

As soon as we walked in the place it smelled really bad and my child dropped her crayons underneath the table as we reached to get them we noticed that there was a lot of old Lemon slices and facemask and who knows what other stuff was their also their floors were super filthy would not go back

Had a reservation for 7:45 did not get our food until after 930. Had our drinks refilled one time the whole time we sat there. Once we got the check we just went to the front to pay, did not have any desire to sit there another hour to have our ticket taken care of. There was another couple that came in 45 min after us. Once we got our food they just walked out as theirs was still no where in sight.

This restaurant was clearly overwhelmed by the Valentines Day crowd. We were served bread and wine for two hours after our 7:00 p.m. reservation time. My wife and I finally gave up and left without a meal, but a heafty $35.00 bill for a glass of wine and appetizers.

We had not been here for a long time so thought we would do an early dinner on Valentine’s Day and beat the crowds. We had a reservation and the crowd was light but the maitre de sat us next to the kitchen, and near a family with 3 kids. Our waitress was kind enough to offer to move us but we decided not to fuss about it. Turned out that we should have moved. I had the lasagne bolognese and it was good…not great. Salad was fresh, Mediterranean dressing was light but tasteful. The bread was excellent! Wife is a light eater and ordered the lobster bisque for her meal. It was way too salty for either of out tastes. Also did not have Stella Artois in stock., which was just slightly annoying. Wife love the peach sangria. Overall, not a bad experience but not good enough to displace our regular go-to choices for Italian food in Bakersfield.
