Nice atmosphere however food was a little uninspiring.
Good accommodating service (were supposed to be 4, then we were 3, then we were 4, but only 3 showed up) but it didn't phase the staff. Menu is large but what ever I've picked on my visits there has been good. Blue cheese salad to start was so-so; and a bit over prices at 11EUR. But the fish I had plus accompaniments was good.
Would recommend the fishcake And duck wonton starters. Very user friendly wine list
Absolutely gorgeous meal great service love rolys
No music, glass box room with air conditioning unit running.
Great food and wine. Very attentive service as well.
Lovely meal in a vibrant but still cosy bistro, definitely will return
A nice experience, lovely food overseen by manager Khan.
Lovely comfortable restaurant. Staff were great, food beautiful. Would definitely recommend.
Been coming for years but definitely gone south.
Arrived and was told we had requested to be downstairs in the wine room. Didn't really mind at first but during dinner realised all the staff come around your table to the wine rack on the wall - all night.
Some wine orders were 30mins late.
No dublin staff left - there always used to be. Not that this matters, it was just always a nice to have.
Food was average, where it was always excellent.
A real shame tbh - a lot of history at Rolys.
Restaurant was full in a Thursday afternoon. Super ambience. Well turned out staff. Lovely menu. Excellent value.
Sunday lunch here....we tend to visit when we are in Dublin. Food was very good although I asked for a rare steak, it came med/rare so I sent back. They did very quickly get another steak out which was rarer than the last but still not quite as rare as I like(I did eat it). The manager suggested I ask for blue/rare next time I visit, I did say most places tend to get it exactly right!!!! Apart from that the food was very good.
I'd not been to Roly's for a VERY long time, and was delighted to find that it still serves high quality 'bistro' type food in a lovely setting!
Our table of 7 was downstairs behind glass partitions. While the table and seating was fine, the noise level was very high and it was difficult to hear what friends not sitting beside or directly across from you at our table were saying. Obviously other people at different tables in the same area had a similar problem, as they were shouting very loudly most of the time. So unfortunately this took away from what should have been a nice sociable evening. The food and service was great, no problem at all. Therefore, if I was recommending Roly's to a friend, I would warn about the noise level if sitting downstairs.
In a very busy restaurant, service was efficient considering the demand.
The only complaint I had was the fish was too dry.🙁
Otherwise Roly’s never disappoints.
Big groups there so noise level unusually higher.
I was a little disappointed by this experience. The tables are still beautifully set, the first floor still has a beautifully cozy atmosphere. When we sat down we expected service to be attentive and switched on unfortunately it seemed to be slightly disjointed: two worlds, on the one hand two ladies who seemed to to all the running and some gentlemen who seems to do very little. Concerning the food, we couldn't fault it, only that the first course salmon was very very small. In all it was good, but it felt all a little 'unloved'. So may be it was just an unfortunate evening, but maybe Roly's should not rest on its laurels.
LOVELY DINING EXPIERENCE WE GO EVERY MONTH TO MEET UP AS SISTERS . ALWAYS LOOKED AFTER SO WELL . MARIO IS THE BEST HOST.
Been there the second time, food is not very interesting. Ordered two steaks medium, both were more than well done. Winelist is boring. Service is very friendly, very attentive. Starters came to the table 1 minute after the bread. Crowded with good looking people. Might need some attention to the kitchen.
Arrived and there was told to wait - after 10 minutes was shown to a table just beside a group of about 16. Asked for a quieter table as I had mentioned in the reservation- it was a birthday lunch for my mum. Moved downstairs to a small table in the corner. Service was sporadic - seems a young untrained team not able to co-ordinate - asked 3 times for sauce before it arrived as I finished maincourse. We attempted to order desserts and coffee but were ignored - couldn’t even bring the bill and no sign of anything for the birthday - so we got up and paid at the counter! A shame as the food we got was tasty. Bring back Roly Saul! He knew how to manage front of house and made customers feel welcomed!
Myself and my family went as a family of 6! It was for my Fathers birthday. Food was exquisite as always. Service was impeccable. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming! It was nosey due to the large volume of people.
The restaurant was very busy as it looked like there were alot of work parties there. The noise level was very bad. We heard a lady who was leaving complaining about the noise level. We found the same, I could barely hear what the waitress was saying. We were not having starters but were waiting 45 mins for ours mains. The food was excellent and the restauranf staff who served us were also excellent. However I dont agree with 10% being added on as service charge for 2 people. I prefer to tip the waitress who serves me. Overall I enjoyed my food but the noise in the restaurant would not entice me to return.
Good food and nice atmosphere. We would like more options for gluten free deserts
Very good value for lunch
However I ordered a glass of Sancerre and it was served already poured in the glass no bottle in sight
Not good enough when a glass of wine is over 10 euros but in my opinion it does not matter how much the wine is you should see the bottle when you order a glass
Had a pretty good experience but it was let down by a 40 minute delay between starters and mains.
The manager did comp us a drink for the mistake, which was appreciated. Was very noisy on the night but restaurant was nearly full so probably to be expected.
Great night , wonderful staff, they always go the extra mile.
Favorite Dublin restaurant that we visit in every trip to Dublin - excellent food and great service
Lovely lunch had.
Unfortunately the restaurant upstairs was very cold when we sat at our table. It took a while to warm up. (This triggered a bad chest seize up).
Apart from that, service was impeccable and the food generous and tasty.
As good as ever! Been coming to Roly's on and off for 20+years and this visit was right up there with my best ever. It had been about 4 years since my last experience and it was so impressive to see everything is still as excellent as it has always been.
We early on a Saturday night after Christmas, usually a quiet enough night around Dublin. Not for Roly's! the restaurant was bustling, the energy and ambiance was perfect.
Food was superb from start to finish. You could tell the bread was fresh from that day despite the Christmas holiday, Fish cakes and Prawns for starter were superb. Venison and Fillet of Beef succulent and delicious. Love that so many of the Rolys staples are still featured on the menu, no need to mess with such a brilliant menu.
A special mention for the service. We had a few different waiters that were attentive and helpful but a special mention to the manager Khan. A true professional, was really friendly and hospitable to us and all of the tables around us. He was calm and had a smile on his face the entire time even though the restaurant was full and very busy. He made a great night even better and is a credit to the service standard Rolys has always upheld.
A++ experience. Can not recommend highly enough. I will be back every time I am in Dublin from now on!
Always a great venue
Great food, staff always very helpful and non intrusive
Great afternoon with our children and their partners.
Great time had by all really enjoyable experience
Always great food and service. Well worth a visit when you are in Dublin
We booked for 1830, were reminded of bookings by two seperate phone calls and then got stuffed in Take out annex till at least 1845 before being taken upsatirs having booked the Bistro. Not impressed! However the food was excellent, as ever and upon commenting on the foregoing, our bill was reduced by a third. Overall, good result but hopefully next time there will be one boss, not (what seemed like) five of them.
A party of 9 and every one enjoyed it Round table suited the number
Very busy on the day but you couldn't fault anything food fabulous as always
Always very enjoyable and continue to return every year with family for great Christmas lunch, would highly recommend
Roly’s has become a tradition for us as part of our Christmas celebrations. The staff were wonderful, the service was efficient and the ambiance is always lively. The food overall was very good, nicely prepared, and the portions were large. However we both thought that the rib of Hereford Beef, while very tasty and cooked perfectly to our liking, was not of the quality of meat that we would associate with Roly’s. I do appreciate that judging the quality of raw meat can be a real challenge for any restaurant, and we may have been just unlucky with our particular cut of meat at the time. I will definitely be returning again in the near future.
Entrance hall was grotty and pretty run down. The carpets were filthy and overall not the standard I use to remember from Roly’s. The service was good and staff were very pleasant. It was my friends birthday and the staff came over with a desert and little candle singing happy birthday. Nice touch
Roy's tried to charge me 2 gratuities when I paid my bill which was very sharp and something I have never come across before. They said one for the owner and the other for the waiter
There prices are very expensive for some very common dishes Prawn Coctail c18 Euros
Rolys never fails to impress. I love that it doesn’t change. Lots of good memories there.
