Entrance hall was grotty and pretty run down. The carpets were filthy and overall not the standard I use to remember from Roly’s. The service was good and staff were very pleasant. It was my friends birthday and the staff came over with a desert and little candle singing happy birthday. Nice touch
Roy's tried to charge me 2 gratuities when I paid my bill which was very sharp and something I have never come across before. They said one for the owner and the other for the waiter
There prices are very expensive for some very common dishes Prawn Coctail c18 Euros
Rolys never fails to impress. I love that it doesn’t change. Lots of good memories there.
A gorgeous meal with great service.
We had a lovely round table which was perfect for a group of girls!
Lovely food at a great price
We as a family group enjoyed Sunday lunch at Roly's. It was packed but still I we were made to feel special. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant. The staff were friendly without being intrusive, they were very well groomed and very polished. We shall be back.
Really good food , excellent value , friendly and very efficient staff . Was a pleasure . Looking forward to next visit !
I had booked online. Had eaten when I realised that I had booked for upstairs and had eaten downstairs !
We had made them aware that we had a Coeliac in the group, however there are no allergen listed on the menu, which is amazing considering the most basic cafe is able to it and it is the law. We were not offered an alternative menu at time of sitting and eventually had to ask what the options were, which were told verbally. I had also asked for a nice table as we were a graduation party and also had a very 'elderly gentleman in our group. Our table was the nearest in the room to the open kitchen doors, if this is a 'nice table' I would not like to get a lesser one. The food was good but overall experience not good enough for what is being charged at lunchtime.
This was of first night in Dublin. Roly’s was amazing. The food was excellent and the service was superb. We had the lamb pie and the halibut with mussels and clam chowder. Everything was excellent. I highly recommend Roly’s.
Delicious food, lovely service. Definitely coming back.
3 of us had the lunch (set menu)
Food was absolutely delicious, the service was second to none, very attentive staff.
The only gripe was the tables are quite close together and the overall price was a bit dear.
I would definitely recommend Rolys and will return for a special occasion
Nice early bird menu. Food really good and well presented. Overall experience was very good. Only downside was the restaurant was cold at 6.30pm. A bit of heat would have enhanced an otherwise really good meal.
I had very high expectations as it was always so highly spoke of to me. The service was slow and unorganised. It was very noisy in the restaurant and I found it hard to hear the rest of the table. I wouldn't have mind paying the bill if the service and ambiance was better. Overall I was quite disappointed in the experience
Impromptu lunch catalysed by retro menu pricing! Great food and super atmosphere... very enjoyable..
Great service, food was beautiful and the staff were generous and kind to my daughter, we were there for her 16th Birthday celebrations. I just love this place.
they are fast, Food is super and outstanding service. you can't ask more.
As usual, superb in every way. Roly’s delivers every time.
I had a party of 17 on Thursday evening, 10/3, and Roly’s was able and more than willing to accommodate us. The food was fabulous! Excellent dishes to pick from for all tastes. The atmosphere was lovely. Kahn and Neave (sp?) gave especially excellent service. All in our party were very impressed. We would go there again a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
Food was very good as always, however table downstairs was not good and preference would be to be seated upstairs next time we visit.
Perfect place to end our vacation in Dublin. Food was delicious and we’re hoping the Skellig chocolate dessert with be a menu regular - order and see! Very generous with their outstanding bread - thank you!
What do you fo when you want to have a nice dinner with friends in a city you don't really know that well? You ask a local. That's what we did and asked our cab driver who gave us a few recommendations and Roly's was in the top recommendations. We were lucky enough to get a reservation short notice. The owner greeted us when we walked in and a couple of times during the meal to make sure we liked everything. The food was delicious although a bit on the pricey side. We were a party of six and tried a few different menu items and can recommend the prawns, the lamb pie, the steak and the fish and chips. What are you still doing reading this review? Go eat at Roly's!
Excellent service and food. Price a little on the high side but overall it was relaxing and an enjoyable experience.
We had an amazing time, food was beautiful, staff were attentive and the atmosphere was brilliant
Myself & my husband dined here recently prior to an event we were attending. We were waited on attentively. Food was of a very high standard. Portion size was a little small. However this would be my only fault. Beautiful food in lovely surroundings
Great food and considerate service.
Very good restaurant that I have been going to for years. Always very good food and service. Only down side it is so good it is almost always packed which can mean it is not great for a relaxed romantic meal. Overall a great place to eat and one of the best in Dublin.
Rolys always serves delicious food. The early bird set menu is very good value for the quality.
While the atmosphere is always friendly and casual - with a bistro atmosphere - the seating is comfortable and the tables are dressed with white table cloths. It can be quite noisy so its not for a quiet catch up or romantic dinner but can be nice with a group.
Apart from the great food the Manager (Khan) and his team offer exceptional service and always go out of their way to ensure that Rolys is a wonderful dining experience.
One of our Guests is Vegetarian. We stated this when booking on-line. On arrival at the restaurant there were no vegetarian starters on the menu!!! We asked if the black pudding could be removed from the goat's cheese starter to create a vegetarian starter and was informed that it was not possible. The vegetarian guest had to stare into space whilst the other diners had starters. Very uncomfortable and very embarrassing - all round. Would not re-visit unless there was a major overhaul of the menu. NOTE In consequence to the current environmental conditions (carbon emissions) - meat eating has reduced enormously and trends currently indicate that a great many of the meat eating population are turning vegetarian or vegan. Roly's needs to get with the programme and not alienate vegetarians as we experienced on Sunday 25th. Roly's is way overpriced and the service delivered by one waitress was very poor. (I spent so long trying to devise a vegetarian starter from the side dishes and modifying the meat starters, that I had not decided on what to order myself. When the waitress arrived to take our order, I asked for a little extra time given the dilemma. The waitress raised her eyes to Heaven by way of response). Menu and Service get a zero from me unfortunately.
Disappointing lunch due to poor service and the presence of toddlers and babies. Food was tasty but the price, you would expect a better atmosphere.
Cramped table, seating in bad need of upholstering.
My family and I had a really enjoyable evening in Roly's . The food was only surpassed by the wonderful atmosphere and service. The manager and his team were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Perfect way to end the week - tasty food in a lovely setting
Ok but felt like they were just turning over tables.
Service was good but impersonal. Some staff members could take more care of their appearance.
Outstanding dining experience! Wine selection was great as well as the food. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I had a local dish and I loved it. Would highly recommend dining here!
The food was great, the staff was nice, the ambience was energetic.
Always like rolys but the service was very bad. Forgot our wine and had to follow it up. Food slapped down on us and wine crafe slapped onto where dinner plate was supposed be going. Had to ask for empty water bottles to be taken away even after they gave us new ones. Not good enough service for the price. Manager was filthy dirty with sloppy hair and suit
Great as always. Enjoyed, there is a certain reliability which makes it great
Lovely ambiance , food always reliable and delicious, staff very attentive and a lovely touch ..a free drink after our meal ! Very impressed....so much so we returned for breakfast 😊
Buzzing atmosphere. Excellent food, Very attentive service. A very enjoyable and pleasant experience
I took my son to Rolys for his 35th birthday as he likes to go there. It would not be my 1st preference, especially as it has got so expensive, there is no 2 course option and they slap on a 10% service charge. We were both happy with our meal. However, we got a very badly placed table and when the window table to our left was vacated the staff thought nothing of gaining access to clear this table by pushing and moving and interrupting my son a number of times before we requested that they desist, as this is not the way to treat a diner in any restaurant. We made the maitre dee aware of what went on and he apologised and offer my son a free drink which he did not avail of as he was leaving and didn't want another drink. I might add that the staff in question appeared to find nothing wrong with their behaviour.
