Food was good as usual but it was very very slow last night
This is one of the best restaurants in the city....and certainly the best sushi spot. Food is high end, perfectly presented and, with out exception, exceptional across the menu. We recommend it highly....although plan on $100/person minimum for diner.
Excelente restaurante, he visitado muchísimos sushis, el mejor hasta el día de hoy
Everyone absolutely loved the apps and mains we ordered. It’s rare when you find a place that every dish is perfect and delicious. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend.
The food was decent. Sitting outside was nice.
Food could have been served a little slower and the music a little quieter.
Service is performed by a team and not the same waiter. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We only ordered fish and Would highly recommend based solely only quality and variety. Yoi shoku.
This was our first time into the restaurant. The food was excellent, but the decor was outdated and the noise level was so high we were shouting to talk to one another.
Our server was friendly and helpful, but when we ordered a second order of sushi, it took a very long time to arrive.
Overall, for the price, there are much nicer experiences to find in Scottsdale.
You will love it
Noisy but the food is outstanding!!
Always perfect!!! My top 3 in Az .................
It was great but they didn’t have what we originally wanted
We were quickly sat and served waters, then our server came up and made some amazing recommendations and asked if we had any questions regarding the menu. The food quickly came out and was amazing, every bite was memorable! Highly recommended the ube dessert
We came here gonna recommendation from a bar in old-town....and it did not disappoint. The sushi rolls were great and the steak we got melted in your mouth. I would highly recommend.
Food was all decent except the entrees, but when you end up paying $350 for two people (not going crazy on the food/drinks), you expect everything to be curated appropriately. Apps were really good, entrees were mediocre and wildly under seasoned, and the drinks ranged from excellent (cocktails) to overly sweet and overpriced (sake). Service was impeccable, and definitely the highlight of the experience, but the first time I went a year or so back was so much better. Wouldn’t return for the simple fact that you can get a ten times better meal for half the price, or a hundred times better meal for the same price. Seriously though, good job on hiring staff. They were awesome.
One of the most expensive sushi restaurants in the United States. I have been to many around the country and around the world. This place is SUPER expensive for what you’re getting. BIG prices and TINY portions. Good quality, but way too over priced for what you get. Will not be returning.
This was our first visit. We loved the food. Will go again.
Excellent service, wonderful food. Ordered Omakase and loved every course!
Birthday dinner - I was not so sure I would like this place. I have lived in Japan and had top Kobe beef. I have to say this place , made me make sure it’s on my top 10 places to eat at atleast every other month! Love it!
After being seated we were greeted immediately. We then spent 30 minutes waiting for drinks and it was sign of how things would be for the rest of the night. When it came to refills, we were ignored. The food was good, but we were given options not on the menu. I should have asked how much, because they were very expensive options. I'm ok with spending $200 on an amazing dining experience, but I do not like spending that kind of money for a bad experience.
It was great but it took forever to get a drink
Everything was great!
I was expecting to find a japoneses dessert like the clear raindrop or anmitsu or at least muchi icecream.
Great service! Great food quality and presentation! Just I will offer more Japanese desserts.
But keep the hot lava cake and sorbets.
Enjoyed the food but it’s super loud in there. Could barely hear the person across the table from me. Food was fantastic but the portions are really small and super expensive. I’m not complaining, just leaving an accurate review. Be prepared to throw some money down if you’re hungry. I have the lamb and it was the best I ever had.
My waiter, whose name I do not remember was awesome. Very helpful
In suggesting what to order and was spot on with what he suggested.
All in all I would go back if I was looking to impress a date by throwing away $150+ on food.
Certainly a happening place for date night or groups. Food was creative and well done, however portions were really small and prices were pretty high.
We sat at "the counter" and got to watch the kitchen in action - that was really cool.
I'd go back, but only for very special occasions.
Best steak ever!
Amazing food I recommend the omakase menu.
The food quality was amazing! No need for heavy sauces to cover up poor choices of meat. Loved every part of our meal. The lovely desserts and sorbets were a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Went two nights in a row during our vacation and may go back tonight!
I was recommended this and it was good but not as many options as hoped would have. The broccolini and ube dessert were my favorite part of all we got. The service was amazing and the ambience was relaxing.
Unfortunately it did not live up to its expectations. Food was too expensive for the quality ... sushi was ok but average , $16 dollars for 2 pieces of nigiri that looked like they where sitting there for a while . Mistake after mistake with details of the order and the servers never cleared our table after we finish a dish , we had a tower of dirty plates on top of a small table , they kept bringing our food bud never seem to bother to take with them the empty plates . Every time we order something it’s was sold out , conveniently the server was pushing the most expensive dishes constantly . The server was really blah , he didn’t care and at times seemed upset that I asked questions about fish quality and the confection of the dish. He has no knowledge of alarmist anything.
I will not go back again , after spending $300 and leaving hungry I had my Roja Akor experience.
Food was amazing! The kitchen got backed up after our salads and took 45 minutes to get our dinners. However, the server brought us an appetizer for the inconvenience.
Main dining room is very noisy, but we sat outside and it was nice.
Would definitely go again!
Roka Akor had great tasting food, service, and the restaurant was nice. Everything we tried at the restaurant was fantastic. No complaints at all
Long time patrron
Christina was an excellent server. Paul , the GM isa very welcoming individual. He has put together an excellent staff.
Our server Justin was awesome!! He told about the Chefs menu so we ordered it and sat back and enjoyed everything!! Justin paired sakes and wine fir us.
Starting out with roasted shishito peppers topped with a sprinkling of bonito (wonderful)
Then came butterfish with a small piece of white asparagus finished with a citrus gremolata and ponzu sauce. Melted in my mouth, so beautifully presented.
Next, some tuna fanned out with a small piece of pickled garlic and citrus dressing on a little salad. Wonderful!
Then a big beautiful bowl of ice and piled high with King salmon sashimi and Tuna belly ( yum). Yellow tail and I think some hamachi all presented with wooden sushi roller,
Orchids and Shiso leaves. Stunning!!
Next, deep fried sea bass sitting on a miso mustard sauce and a wild mushroom medley adored with chili threads micro greens and a lemon slice and carved banana leaves. So tasty !!
Them came squared pieces of deep fried pork belly that was confit first in a ponzu sauce!! Melted in my mouth. Yumm
Last but not least came a smoking bowl with a wooden grate with a banana leaf to hold the slices of Wagu beef with a little fresh wasabi. Wow!
EVERY dish was a piece of art by itself. Along with the actual serving dishes, all hand made clay. BEAUTIFUL!!
Dessert was some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant.
A lava cake in a big bowl that looked like the inside of an oyster shell spiraled a swoosh of dark chocolate held an assortment of little balls of chocolate filled with crispy goodness. The cake itself was crisp outside but the middle was dark Belgian chocolate, which made your mouth water
Sprinkled with toasted almonds and a small scoop of wonderful ice cream.
Next came something that really set me back.
A purple yam creme brûlée with berries and a miso wafer with toasted rice in it. Savory slightly sweet yet so smooth it melted on your tongue.
I would do this again. Be hungry as it is a lot of food.
Justin was so fun and nice!!! WONDERFUL
delicious food, incredible waitress called Nina won't be long before we come back again it certainly hasn't lost its sparkle since we last visited pre covid
Everything was great but there was no burgers available.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We sat outside and temperature was perfect. It was a little more quiet too.
Celebrated an anniversary here and was quite surprised! Every bite was amazing. Great ambiance, servers know the menus and provide good recommendations.
My daughter and I sat at the sushi bar and had a wonderful experience. A food journey aka omakase which didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed every bite and desert was amazing. Marcus waiting on us he was delightful. Dirty martinis were perfect. Can’t wait to return!
Love it!!! They are amazing!!!
