Wonderful dinner here with friends and family the night before heading to see Hamilton. We really enjoyed the variety on the menu and we had a bit of everything. Highlights were: Lobster dumplings, corn, uni, chefs nigiri sampling and Japanese Wagyu. I got 3oz of the lowest grade offering on the menu and it was absolutely amazing. I could have eaten a 5 times as much but the stuff isn't cheap; however well worth the splurge if you're a steak fan.

bar service staff downstairs were great! Friendly, knowledgeable, good service and great drinks. The food service and staff upstairs in the main dinning room were awful. The server was not knowledgeable or very professional for a restaurant of this caliber. Our party of 5 all ordered the 5 course meal. The main course A4 wagyu was over cooked. We ordered medium rare. Over 70% was well done. We informed our waiter. He took it back to have it replaced. The manager brought it back to our table and stated that this is the way we cook our beef. Left it on the table and walked away. The server returned and asked us if everything was now okay? We said no I. We were not happy with the beef. It is over cooked. We asked to see the manager.. The manager said that he would not replace the beef but would give us 3 ounces of beef cooked as we requested. The new order of beef was medium rare as requested. The server said that he agreed with us that the new order was medium rare. The manager returned and asked if this was satisfactory? We said yes.

However I told the manager that I did not like the way he spoke to us, nor did I appreciate that he was trying to force us to accept a product that was not what we ordered simply due to either a mistake in the kitchen or from our waiter when placing the order. i also informed him that if he was having a bad night for him not to take it out on his guest.

I informed him that we also ordered the steak tartar and A5 - 6 oz which never made it to the table. I told the manager that I wanted to make sure that we did not get charged for it. The manager said that we did not order it. I told him that he should check with our waiter because we did. The manager confirmed that we did indeed order the two items that never made it to our table. He took off one of the beef items, one of the two bottles of wine, gave us an after dinner port to make up for the mistakes, but the damage had already been done. very unhappy customers

Birthday celebration (complimentary glasses of champaign for the table...thank you!) and second time dining at Roka Akor. Ordered the Omakase which is truly an experience and worth every dollar. It's five courses of sampling the best of the menu. I can't imagine anything on the menu as being mediocre. It's an experience that leaves one completely satiated. Each course builds up to the next one and leaves a glorious explosion of taste that is like none other. Pair that with impeccable service and it's an experience and night to remember.

It was a perfect night at Roka Akor. We were celebrating my husband’s retirement with our two sons and their significant others. We had many, many appetizers and loved them all. Roka Akor does a particularly fabulous job with their dumplings. We had the lobster dumplings and the Waygu beef dumplings - simply delicious! The little corn cobs were so good. We had the sweet potatoes, scallops, yellow tail, Brussels sprouts - all simply incredible! The rice hot pot was like risotto with complex flavors. They also did a great job on the Waygu steak. Everything was so perfectly prepared with wonderful flavors.
The service was outstanding. Our server was always available to place another appetizer order. There was other wait staff to clear plates and replace them, even to take food and drink orders. The service was just the way you would want it - not intrusive but always there to answer questions or take an order. They were the best service I’ve had - I mean it!
Cocktails were creative, but they sure make a good old cosmo!
Go and enjoy a very special evening!

This is a great place for a business lunch or dinner. The staff is attentive and they make accommodations for allergies and food preferences. The food is delicious. Business lunch is very reasonable and includes appetizer, miso soup and main entree for $28. There are too many delicious dishes to list. We'll definitely be back.

Our waitress was very helpful with the menu. She tried & succeeded to help us find foods that were unusual & special. Thankfully, she changed my mind regarding our desert order. We had the molten
chocolate desert. This was one of the best deserts I have ever had.
Please keep in mind that the restaurant is very pricy-
I would suggest checking the menu before making a reservation.
Roka Akor was highly recommended & we were extremely satisfied. I will go again, on my next visit to
San Francisco.

The first time I went was for a special occasion with my husband, we ordered the chefs tasting menu and it was all excellent except for a very marginal mushroom risotto. We love mushrooms and risotto but...yuck. This time I brought my niece and we also ordered the chefs tasting menu and it was disappointing. The soup was ok, the sashimi was tasteless but fresh (chefs choice) and again out came the mushroom risotto, which we both thought was not worth the calories. The main dishes, Lobster in a delectable sauce was excellent as was the Wagu beef and the grilled corn on the side. If I come back I would just get those dishes. The dessert platter was beautifully presented and the lava cake was delicious and I don't even like chocolate, but the cheese cake was flavorless with a grainy texture; disappointing as I am a cheesecake girl. Service was great but unfortunately the place was so loud that the explanations of what we were served were lost in the atmosphere...you can only say "excuse me?" so many times. So over all, for the price, it was just very mediocre. Too bad

Food was excellent. What stood out was the knowledge of our waiter Erick (not sure if I got the spelling right). For everything on the menu from mains, deserts and Saki .. his knowledge was so deep he could tell an interesting background story for every item. I'm confident in saying he was THE most knowledgeable waiter Ive ever met. And it made the experience. Our business guests were very impressed with out choice of restaurant. Thank you Roka Akor team!

Don’t let them take your plate if you’re not finished, because that is their main goal for some unknown reason. Also don’t expect them to figure out how to space out dishes, so only order 1 or 2 at a time to avoid receiving everything at once. They need to take a lesson from Nobu on this.

We were running late to our reservation and we called them to let them know we will be late since it was Friday and traffic was bad. When we reached the restaurant we waited about 20 minutes to get a table, and we weren’t told anything aside from checking in that it will be about 20 minutes etc.

I hadn’t known much about Roka Akor before booking this reservation. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and taken to our seats (even though we were early).

We ordered so much wonderful and luxurious bites and some of the highlights are the A5+ Kobe Wagyu Hyogo Perfecture, the Wagyu fillet, lobster dumplings, Premium Blue Fin Tuna Sashmi platter, the corn and asparagus, the desserts and the latte! Every bite was more flavorful than the last!

Definitely my new favorite restaurant in SF!
