Disappointing compared to Roka in Chicago. The food is very good but not compared to the price.
Great casual ambiance. excellent service! Food was very well prepared but a bit of a let down given all the rave reviews and high prices (due to a la carte ordering)
Sashimi app was great; chefs choice nigiri was average (and thus overpriced) Love black cod and expected melt in your mouth but it was a little too firm and bland. Didn’t care for the heavy sauce.
Others really enjoyed their steaks and mushroom hotpot (sort of like risotto)
I’ve lived in San Francisco for 40 years. This is my new favorite San Francisco restaurant.
Food is pricey but amazing. Highly recommend the yellowtail, the dumplings, sashimi, and filet to share family style.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our third anniversary, we loved the food, we did have to ask for a table by the window, if it’s a special ocasión of course I want the best table!!!!!

Experience was pleasant, service was great. Typical San Francisco Japanese steakhouse, high price sushi, well plated but lacking flare for price. Rate sashimi in Vegas better, chicken was fabulous, Mayo was overly salty and had peculiar aftertaste. Would recommend, but not a have to return.
We went for my birthday dinner. The team gave me a sweet card and comped a tasty ice cream dessert! All of that on top of the amazing food— it was a WOW meal for sure!
Absolutely the best birthday dinner I have had in a while. The restaurant started a bit noisy but got better as folks left. Our server brought each course at the perfect time leaving enough time for conversation. we had a drink before dinner at the downstairs bar and the bartender/mixologist was amazing and informative.

This place is perfect for date night. The waiter gave awesome suggestions. We wanted to try everything on the menu, but our waiter definitely gave us the right choices. Will come back!
Roka Akor does not disappoint. We went there with a large party of 12 for my birthday. Erin, the event manager, was easy to work with and made herself very available. We went with the decadent omakase, and each dish was more spectacular than the previous one. Highlights were the king crab legs with chili lime butter, sweet corn with garlic soy butter, and the wagyu filet. And then there was the gorgeous dessert platter. We had an absolutely wonderful time!

We had been to Roka before. The food was good. We ordered a cold appetizer, a hot appetizer, 2 meat dishes, 1 vegetable and a dessert. Personally, I would recommend the Japanese fried chicken (meat) and the roast scallops (hot appetizer). The fried chicken was more like an appetizer dish to me but the portion was quite generous for Roka. My wife like her lamb chops.
At first we were seated at the counter because we liked to seat next to one another. However we were at the side that was closer to the BBQ and it was a little smokey for us. We requested to change to a table and it was taken care of right away.
One thing that we felt very uncomfortable with was that they wanted our ID to redeem our e-gift certificate. This was the first restaurant in our experience that an ID was required for gift certificate redemption. We would think twice if they just wanted to see one but they actually took my wife's driver's license to take "some info" as part of the record of the redemption. It was nice that manager came to our table to explain the policy was to prevent fraud when the same e-gift card was redeemed twice. However with all the identity theft issues going on, Roka did not give us any guarantee that the info taken would definitively not end up into the wrong hands. Moreover the manager said the ID info would be shredded after FIVE years. Who could really make any guarantee for such a long time? Where would they be keeping all these paperwork?

Main dish came super late. Almost 45 mins after we got our last appetizer. Waitress did apologize but did nothing else to make up for the experience. Gonna post this on Yelp as well. Food was delicious though.
Roka Akor will never disappoint you. I've dined here during happy hour, dinner, and the prix fixe dinner menu during SF Restaurant Week. Roka Akor's service, food, and drinks are always exceptional. Dinner can get pretty pricey, but happy hour and prix fixe menu during SF Restaurant Week are valuable deals that you cannot pass up. If you find yourself at this fine establishment, the marinated black cod, Japanese mushroom rice, any of the Japanese wagyu beef options with bone marrow, and chocolate cake are an absolute must try!
I love love love love Roka! It never fails that’s why I keep coming back! Hosted a lot of people over from out of town, family dinner and my birthday. They have great cocktails, fine selection of wines and sake. Tried their restaurant week menu which was amazing! Will be back very soon! Highly recommend it :)
