Service is always wonderful- as is the food! The lava cake dessert is delicious and a must order!
Great food, environment and service
Great food, and wonderful, attentive service. We enjoyed the shrimp tempura and a roll. Nice to share selections here.
Excellent food and service We started with a 4 tuna appetizer and shrimp tempura. Delicious!
Excellent service and one of the best steaks we've had since Japan!
Have been to Roka several times and the food and service has always been good. We went there for Mother’s Day dinner and did the special menu for the day. Not sure I would do that again as they brought course after course so fast I felt like I was at a fast food restaurant. When you pay $75 per person and pay $130 for a bottle of wine you want to have time to enjoy your meal which was definitely not the case for this visit. I barely put down my chop sticks before the next course was on my table.
We enjoyed our dinner on a very busy Sunday. Two of us ordered the Mothers Day menu and the others ordered specific items. There was a lot of confusion when the food was delivered as to whether it was part of the Mothers Day menu or part of someones individual order. In one instance I asked the person delivering chicken who it was for and they said it was part of our Mothers Day dinner. After we had eaten much it, we found out that was not part of the Mothers Day dinner, but was ordered by the other people in our group. Seems it should be made clear what is being delivered and for whom it was intended.
The lack of the standard be it box options and being forced to pay extra for soup rice and salad (usually included)... made this a sub par dining experience. Will not return on special occasions.
I always love Roka Akor, despite its priciness. Food is consistently great & fresh. Our waiter, Dan, really made the evening special. What a great server!! Time to start saving for an Omakase dinner!!
Very good solid food, service just OK but not anything special. Not for special occasions but very good quality food
Delicious, great menu and appetizers. The black cod was cooked perfectly. However, a Japanese restaurant should automatically include rice with the entree.
Food was tasty service was great everything was good!
This is our 4th time here and the food was superb as always! The kimchi dumplings, tempura vegetables and steak were all superb. Can’t wait to go back. We do wish the place was larger and more comfortable. We’d bring a larger group, if the place was bigger.
We had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes. We watched many couples walk in after us and get seated without having to wait. When it was finally our time to be seated the host began leading us then stopped to help the man coming in to pick up an online order for grub hub or Uber eats so we had to wait again. Then she led us to our table & it was the smallest make shift table in the worst part of the restaurant, basically an add on to a larger booth in back where we would’ve been on top of another groups table. Also right next to the bathrooms & the kitchen door. I asked for the open booth & she wasn’t sure if we could be seated there so we had to follow her all the way to the front again.
She then coordinated with the other host because she wasn’t able to figure out the situation after I explained to her we had reservations and we were waiting 20 minutes. Mind you this host felt completely uncomfortable sitting us at that table because she knew very well it was the worst spot in the restaurant.
We were finally given the open booth I asked for that was available. Then had to wait almost ten minutes for our water & even longer to get a drink.Throughout the entire evening it was very clear who the manager was as he walked around the place and checked in at all other tables. Not once did he stop by our table to check on us.
I honestly felt like no one cared about giving us the best service since we were a younger couple & I had to say something about the wait time & to get a better table. It’s as if we were being discriminated against for our age - The older couples and groups had much more interaction from the staff from what I saw and could hear around us, and were being treated as if they have 1st priority.
The food was good, brussel sprouts very soggy and saturated but that was the least of our issues that night. I’d like to come back here but I felt I unwelcome for the first half of our night making our date start off the wrong way.
Friend was visiting from overseas. He LOVED the sushi. We come often.
Great service every time we come in! Our server Shaun was very attentive, he listed the specials for the evening and we chose to go with the grilled lobster and sirloin with our choice of veggies (Brussels SO JUICY & Broccolini FLAVORFUL) It was all delicious! Definitely worth it. My favorite cocktail is the Blood Orange Margarita it has the perfect light taste and goes perfectly with any dish. Managers Shane and Robin stopped by to welcome us. Comfortable atmosphere all around. Thank you :)
My family and I come here specifically for the black cod and mushroom rice pot dish. They are outstanding and consistently delicious (only at this Old Orchard location). Every side dish we have tried has been just as delicious. For my mother’s bday, they gave complimentary ice cream w a candle. Service is flawless too.
Amazing food and experience!
Have been here 3x so far: twice for lunch and this time for dinner. My go-to is the escolar tataki and the Korean lamb bento lunch box. Yummy!
This time went for my birthday dinner: went for the waygu sirloin with the roasted bone marrow- the steak was cooked medium and was so tender and the bone marrow was great with the ginger soy sauce and rice. WE had 2 side dishes: the corn and the mushrooms- they cooked those on the robata grill and served with garlic/ginger soy butter. Yum! My son had the salmon- he ate it all and the pork ribs were tender, fall off bone, but nice char from the robata grill. Dessert: chocolate cake with sesame banana ice cream- cake was good. My son did not share the ice cream. Ube pot de crème is unique dessert- purple sweet potato- had vanilla like taste- a bit thicker than pudding-delicious. The jackfruit/strawberry ice cream- was good- needed more jackfruit to me though. Would go again.
Per usual our dining experience was fantastic!
Great food and great service. So comfortable. I wish I could just hang out there more. The staff make everything a joy. Well done all. Thank you.
Amazing service from the staff and our server, Jovo. Great location for group outings.
Food and waitstaff were excellent. However, I felt that I wasn’t welcomed by the hostess. Don’t know if she was having a bad day, but her faced said it all. She looked like she didn’t want to be there and didn’t want to deal with anybody. My husband also felt that vibe coming from the hostess. We were 15 min early for our reservation. She said we are too early because our table wasn’t even ready yet. I didn’t expect our table to be ready nor the attitude we received. I like being 15 min early. She did tell us to have a good night but from the tone of her voice, it didn’t sound like she meant it. Otherwise everything else was great.
It's a nice place, good service, good food. but make sure you do not sit at the table with the couch that has a shared back with the adjoining table. If the other patrons sit or lean against the back with some energy, you get an uncomfortable bump. If they keep moving, it's very annoying - which happened to me.
Great food . Everything was fresh and well prepared. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu
Its was for my husbands 40th Birthday. We enjoyed it with our guests. Good food and excellent service.
I went to Roka Akor Old Orchard for my boyfriend's birthday and it was the perfect way to celebrate! Brian was a great server (as usual) and made it so special. We can't wait to come back again soon!
The presentation of the chef's selection sashimi was beautiful, but the enjoyment ended there. Without question, the worst sushi I've had.
Great service and food. There was an attentive manager on the floor and our server was very personable. We went to celebrate a birthday and they provided a complimentary dessert.
The restaurant is on the smaller side. I would recommend to couples and smaller parties.
Amazing treatment. Wonderful experience every time.
We’re looking more seafood (sushi or sashimi) but the selections were minimal. Good for first timers who want meat.
Delicious sushi and steak!
We normally love Roka but this time it was just slightly less enjoyable. The salmon in the Maki roll could have been better and we d
I always thought the chef deserves a star.
The food was amazing. Waitstaff was great. Will definitely be back.
The food is always delicious here. It is a great place for a special occasion. My absolute favorite dish is the Black Cod.
Amazing service was good as well prices are fair. We be back again!
Our server Lee was fantastic. He answered every question we had (thankfully not many) and even made very good suggestion on trying the American wagyu beef with the bone marrow and truffle aioli. SO GOOD! My husband and I will be coming back, very soon.
A little loud but great food.
Awesome food. Great service
