Hamachi roll.....beet salads...pork belly......miso soup,....scallops,...black tea...we enjoyed every bite. Ambiance is
a bit cold architecturally but the open kitchen and barbecue fire burning keeps everyone warm.
Tasty food, unnecessarily high prices, especially non-alcoholic. Ambiance okay, Would recommend only to someone who wanted that specific type of food, not just to generally sample.
We had a truly enjoyable experience at the Old Orchard Roka Akor. We dined at this location a couple months ago and had a very different experience. I had left a negative review and the restaurant manager personally invited me back to give them another shot. I’m so glad we did. Our server couldn’t have been nicer and the food was on point. We started with a special sushi roll they were serving with part of the proceeds going to breast cancer which was really tasty and salmon roll. I had the NY strip and my wife had a skirt steak and each one was cooked perfectly to our liking. We had raspberry, strawberry, and ketel corn sorbet for desert. The manager was nice enough to take care our desert and an additional salmon roll having heard about our previous experience. The whole night was really enjoyable and I look forward to dining at Roka Akor again.
Loved the room (we were in the sun room) and food was so delicious!
It was my husband's 50th birthday so we went all out with the chef's choice premium dining experience. The food was incredibly good.
We were seated at a small table in an atrium area. Not terrible but not very impressive at this price point. Our waiter was delightful but seemed to forget about us toward the end. Perhaps she was exhausted from bringing out all of those tasty fancy dishes. Though a minor inconvenience.
Overall we had a memorable experience.
Servers indifferent even when I questioned a dish. I said it wasn’t what I had last time. They said it was
Very slow unfriendly service. The Oakbtook one is much nicer in many ways. Unfriendly place.
I always like Roka Akor. Their menu is varied and competitively priced for lunch. The service was outstanding but I would like more green choices, more vegetables. Aside from this, I would definitely keep it in my "go-to" list.
The service was great and everyone was very polite. However, the food was not as great as I would expect it to be. The miso soup was too salty, and the sushi did not taste fresh and it was sometimes chewy and hard to eat. I visited a few years ago and the food was amazing then. I’m not sure if it was just an off night or if the quality declined over the years, but I was disappointed and don’t anticipate returning again.
Very tasty well prepared food. Service was attentive and polite.
Always a solid spot. Terrific service, great food and drinks.
We had a great time. Food was excellent and staff was friendly and did a very good job.
The enclosed patio area is little hot specially when having warm rice dishes.
Casual business lunch, the food is amazing, service and timing are perfect. It’s a little higher priced than similar places but it is excellent.
We always have a wonderful time and love the food!!
We just had a light meal before a concert, but the sushi was very good. I had a great tasting Japanese whiskey cocktail, my date had a bottomless pot of chamomile tea.
I had a reservation which they showed as cancelled. The restaurant had a fishy smell when entering. I told the hostess that I had a reservation for 4, the restaurant was almost empty but she could not find us when our guests arrived. The ribs were undercooked and barely warm. The vegetables were served after all the other courses and I had to ask if they were coming at all. The waiter was snippy. I have had good experiences at the Arizona restaurant but this Skokie experience was embarrassing.
Brian is the best!
I loved the lunch menu. Delicious food. Attractively plated.
Food was delicious. Waiter was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Gladly accommodated our requests to serve sauces on the side, etc. Would definitely return.
They have a wide range of sake and sushi options. The prices are a bit expensive, however. There are a few good "value options" on the menu, but one has to hunt for them in order to get a good value for the price.
Everything fabulous, a bit pricey, but delicious. Drink prices ridiculous. $24 for 6 oz glass of wine, skip the wine, enjoy the food.
Decidimos tener una cena especial de despedida dejando a nuestro hijo en su universidad.
Hemos comido delicioso!!! Las presentaciones y los sabores de los platos fueron de nuestro completo agrado!
De seguro volveremos.
Always delicious with great tea and interesting drinks
Roka is always amazing with great service and phenomenal food!
Great everything, Brian was great like he always is
We were a bit disappointed by the food. The green salad was bit flavorless even though it had many different vegetables, avocado and soy cheese. The shishito peppers ere uneventful too. The rose wine was excellent.
Need to eliminate flies from outdoor seating area. A big distraction from an otherwise pleasant dining experience.
Our server was amazing. Completely steered us in a great direction which ultimately got us more food for less money and had a great lunch with a friend.
Waiter was great! Food was great! Seat was great!
As always, our experience was amazing, seated in Brian’s section. He is the best!
We loved the food and the service was nice. But the restaurant is a little dirty for the price you are paying, it's not very comfortable... I guess because it's connected to a mall?
The food was way overpriced, the place was half full and the service was confused and confusing.
Service was slow and there were a lot of flies in the restaurant.
What didn’t go wrong. I had high expectation for this meal as many of my friends have dined here and enjoyed their meal. We ordered several appetizers and they all arrived at the same exact time. The wagyu dumplings and yellowtail appretizers were flavorless. The sushi was good, nothing mind blowing and our server spilled my soy sauce dish on the table which leaked through directly onto my leg. She didn’t even notice and it was a big mess. Didn’t say anything. At that point I was done and didn’t want to order more food and promptly asked for the check.
We had the premium omakase dinner and it was delicious. A lot of variety and diverse flavors. The sushi was outstanding but not enough so I’m planning to return just for sushi in a few days.
This restaurant provided the most extraordinary service I've had in years. They obviously watched our table closely, and brought various condiments and other items before we realized we wanted them. When we advised them of an allergy, they mentioned that one of the dishes we were considering ordering had the item. They kept our water classes filled. They were completely on top of everything, and exceptionally pro-active. The food and ambience were also excellent, but the service was simply incredible.
Great spot for lunch! Service was attentive
Great food. Great service. They are always eager to please and are ready to adapt if necessary.
Just wish they had more options on the menu, seems a little small and pricey. Was delicious, but I always get the same thing since there aren't a lot of options.
