Lovely atmosphere, excellent food and service. Ate “outside” but not underneath direct sunlight, lots of air circulating. Can’t wait to go back.
$70 for lunch is a bit much when you get sub par food. It wasn’t disgusting - just the noodles in the ramen were rubbery and the tempura was bland.
We were pleasantly surprised with the taste and presentation. It was our 1st time going here and we absolutely love it. Our server was Dan and he was amazing. He made many recommendations and we tried some. His recommendations were spot on. We look forward to going back as soon as we are back in that area.

Everything was perfect. The best food and service we have had at any restaurant since the beginning of the pandemic. The spicy tuna crispy rice was heaven. Our waiter was phenomenal. We enjoyed it so much.
Roka Akor is amazing! We are there every month or two and have never left disappointed. Meals/sushi are aways prepared beautifully and the food is to die for! The service is above and beyond with the best hosts and servers who are very friendly and who always remember who you are and are aways welcoming you back. So much praise to everyone there. Manager has truly done a great job!
As always, food and service were excellent. And we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor tent seating. It didn't hurt that the high temperature for the day was 65.
The Restaurant Week lunch option was delicious and a great value. Service was excellent, as was the food. The patio was decorated, but ambiance wise underwhelming; however that was the only downfall.
My daughter and i enjoyed our lunch and the service was fantastic! Food was fresh and arrived on the table very quickly after the waiter took our order. My “must” stop any time I make it out to Old Orchard.
The restaurant week menu was an excellent bargain. Lots of great food, including beet salad , salmon and beef.

We ate on the patio and it was set up very nice. The lunch menu was very good. Service was good and the atmosphere was very nice. The sashimi lunch was delicious.

Loved it. We enjoyed the Restaurant Week 2021 dinner menu. Both the Waygu sirloin and Miso marinated black cod were deliciously prepared. Appetizer and dessert wine pairings were on point! French wine pairing for course 2 was ok, missing body and very light bouquet. Dessert was fabulous. I’m not a heavy chocolate person but I loved their chocolate cake!
Food was mediocre tasting. But for the price it was not worth it at all! Incredibly expensive for mediocre Americanized Japanese food
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Portions of some items have been reduced and the beautiful food presentation is no longer the case. The chocolate cake with the gold foil wonderfully served in a long dish with ice cream is now covered in a very sweet commercially made syrup in a bowl. To say the least we were disappointed. Not worth the cost.
We took wine pairing with our Restaurant week dinner and it was very disappointing.
The food was amazing, but the pairing not well done at all. First I had an ok Prosecco losing its bubbles (with dumplings, really?), then a cheap white Cotes du Rhone (white wine with red meat, why????) and then for dessert the waiter brought me a glass of red wine telling me it 's a Porto! I know Porto very well, it s dessert wine and it has nothing to do with the glass of cheap red wine that this personn called "Porto', even if this red wine was from Portugal or no. The food was delicious, but I have the feeling they give what remains in the bottles for wine pairing. Also, for the price we payed, I expected at least a table cloth and more than one only fork for silver. We ended up on a summer table, no table cloth, I had the feeling to have lunch on my picnic table in my backyard. Not mentionning the Eurodance blasting in the speaker next to our table. Do I go to this type of resturant to not hear my boyfriend speaking? No, for that I go to Wriggley field in a sport bars. We were seated "outdoor"and the other outdoor part has table cloth and looked like more a restaurant. I don t get it. When you cook delicious food and look fancy, everything that goes around as to be exceptionnal too. Here, just the food was good. Service was Ok but people don t know what they give you. And barman don t know either, apparently.
The waiter seemed to not like being asked questions and was in a hurry to rush through the order.
The meat was not cooked as instructed and made me very sick later. We asked the waiter to cook the meat again but it still seemed the same.

We've been coming to Roka Akor for the last few months almost weekly and were thrilled to have found a restaurant in the suburbs that actually serves high-quality fish. All of our previous visits were outstanding (as noted in my previous reviews), with classy service and delicious food. This time around our waiter was a little obnoxious - nice, but trying too hard to make conversation by reciting all the soccer players, making casual remarks and playing it "too cool" by leaning over the table, waiting for us to taste to food and say how great it was.... When you're trying to catch up with your spouse after a long week and you feel like there is always three of us at the table, with a waiter who continues to interrupt your conversation with random bubbly dialogue. Most of our order arrived all at once, so we had to pick between waiting for the shishito peppers to get cold or one of the sushi rolls to get soft... The edamame arrived after we had finished most of the sushi.... Also, the last plate "Modern Nigiri Selection" (Chef's Choice) came with fish that looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for some time and the pieces were smaller than usual, with limited variety (two out of five pieces being salmon). I had asked our waiter whether they had a new fish vendor or a new chef or if the slices were cut from less expensive parts of the fish or had been sitting out for some time before being brought to our table. His response was something along the lines of that the universe is changing and we are changing, in an attempt to crack another joke. When he realized that we weren't trying to make social talk, he said that we shouldn't have eaten the sushi if we wanted to send it back. I said that I'm not trying to get a free replacement, but the waiter made another joke about me trying to get a free meal, which I found out of line. The chef did replace the sushi, but the overall experience this time was stained. We hope for a better experience next time.
Hadn’t been here in a while due to COVID although have ordered pick up. Food has always been great especially Ube pot de creme which we learned to pre-order after being disappointed twice that it was not available during our meal. Bonus that we got our usual corner table without requesting it and hd our great waiter Ben who has always been stellar!

Nice but the cocktails were ok. Service was really good. And the sushi was good too. Poached lobster was best !
Food was not cooked well, but heated patio was great.
Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Ambiance is nice for dinner and perfect for date night. Restaurant and ladies room were clean. Food was tasty, typical sushi prices.
Appetizers were great, but our entree was subpar. We had ordered the sirloin with bone marrow and the sirloin came out dry, chewy, lacked flavor and just wasn't good. We told our server the issue and she took it back, but we kept the bone marrow cause that was tasty. She recommended the rib eye and when we got it, it was better than the sirloin but not something I would rave about. The cocktails on the other hand was worth the money. We had gotten the old fashioned & the martini and they were both great. Would deff come back just for drinks and appetizers.
It was our first time going and the waiter did such an amazing job of helping create a great memory for us. Will definitely be coming back!

I always like Roka Akor., but I usually go to the one in Oakbrook and they include the miso soup as part of their lunch menu so I was surprised when the one in Old Orchard said they charge for it - seriously? That was a let down .. otherwise food was good as always .
The safety, ease, comfort and overall atmosphere was fantastic....in an uncertain world having little moments of normal make it all the more special. The staff and the quality of the food only enhanced this rare night out.

While the tastes were excellent, I would have preferred the portions to be slightly more substantial. The cod in particular was tasty but the portion was very disappointing. The dessert as part of the Valentine’s Day tasting menu “took the cake” in that it was lesser than a kid’s portion rather than for a couple of two. I won’t be back.
We had a lovely Valentine's Day lunch in the heated tent which was incredibly warm despite the -3 temps outside! Our food was spectacular and served quickly.

The soft shell crab bao is amazing. Roka Akor has been consistent in the quality and service. A gem in the suburbs.
