Roka Akor - Oak Brook
Roka Akor’s principle Robata Japanese cuisine is prepared on a twelve-foot robata grill that uses mesquite charcoal and almond wood with flames that can raise temperatures up to 1,900 degrees. The restaurant’s name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambience; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. In alignment with the restaurant’s name, Roka Akor’s design features a centrally located robata grill that provides the heart of the visual experience, surrounded by rich wood décor and sleek lighting. Guests are encouraged to speak with the chefs about the food to create an interactive and engaging dining experience.

Amazing experience and great food - as always! Can't wait to be back!
SO DELICIOUS!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and our experience here. Will definitely be coming back!
had expected more of an Asian flair, more of a Japanese steak house. Food is ok, loud.
Food was excellent but a bit overpriced. It’s kind of a nouvelle Japanese/American place. Not traditional robatayaki but that’s ok. Sashimi was fresh. Wide selection of sakes and Japanese whiskeys, but again, a bit too much mark-up. Had the wagyu sirloin with bone marrow and truffle aioli. It was to die for. Will return. Would be a good place for a celebration.
Awesome service stellar food. Just wish we got a better section but happy with the server we got! Awesome sake too!
Phenomenal. Went for the chef’s choice (omakase) and lived every minute of it. Highly recommend for any special occasion or fancy date night out.
OMG!! Please try the Black Cod skewers and the Brussel Sprouts!! AMAZING. Great service.
I love this place! The food & drinks are amazing ! Service is great. This place will never disappoint.
Nice ambiance. Asked for no butter for the crab legs, but it was disappointing that butter was added.
Had a great time and everything was prefect. Service and food was amazing.
This place is a must go!! It was the perfect dinner for Valentine's Day and our server (middle aged man with a beard) was charismatic, knew the menu very well and gave great recommendations, really made our night a great one! We WILL be coming back for great service, phenomenal food and nice specialty drinks!
Very poor service from our waiter. Condescending, rude and did not give proper attention. The rest of the service staff was good.
The staff was very friendly and professional. Everything was perfect except one thing... I felt rushed to finish my plate in between each course. The sashimi plater (which was stunning) was taken away before I got the chance to sample all of the ‘extras’. Though the Wagyu was super tasty on its’ own, I would have liked to have dipped my last piece in one of the tasty sauces before it was taken away.
Went for Valentine's Day. Great experience, we had the tasting menu and each course was better than the last. Would highly recommend
Amazing food but subpar service. Maybe just an off night so may need to give them another shot.
As we came in to celebrate Valentine’s Day early, our server Lee went above & beyond to make our evening special with no rush. Food was delicious as always — highly recommend the Wagyu Filet as it is so flavorful and juicy.
Would’ve been a 5 star experience if it wasn’t for the kids literally running around the restaurants. I guess this is how it goes in the burbs. Food and drinks were great tho! Waiter was good except a couple of long stretches where he got a little busy.
Me and my boyfriend went for my 8 year cancer-free anniversary. Everything was absolutely perfect. It was expensive, but, completely worth it.
Worth every penny. Loved it. Thank you for an amazing time.
Love the food feel most urban atmosphere and sophisticated menu in Oakbrook
Solid restaurant and very consistent experiences. Have dinner here probably about three times and it’s always decent. I don’t eat sushi but all their other menu options are good.
A mix up on the pacing of the order (entree before appetizer) and the Ramen did not have the protein we ordered (although they fixed that relatively quickly)
While we weren’t charged for one of the entrees, it was disappointing nonetheless particularly since the rom was at best 20% full
I made this reservation due to it displaying a 1000 point Open Table point allocation for the time I reserved. However, my Open Table account was only awarded 100 points. Misrepresentation.
Attentive service, amazing food and presentation. Fun atmosphere for a celebration! Can’t wait to return!!
We enjoyed our dinner at Roka Akor. The place was beautiful and elegant, we came in before 7, so the restaurant wasn't packed and too loud yet. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and our waiter was so kind to bring him a complimentary dessert, which was amazing. The food wasn't amazing, but we liked the ambiance, and the great service.
Will probably check the downtown location next.
We’ve been to the Chicago location so I guess this was a little disappointing in comparison.
We have been several times and always love it. Service is fantastic and food is amazing!
Dinner was excellent as always. Service was friendly and helpful as always. Service was a little lacking in attentiveness and a little slower than usual but the fantastic omakase made up for it. Next time we will request our favorite server Wendy.
The service here is always amazing. The staff takes their time with guests and ensures everyone gets what they want. They explain the menu and make suggestions. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming. It is a little pricey, but the quality of the entire experience justifies the price.
It was our anniversary. Not sure if they treated us for dessert?
A bit pricy..but good food.
Had the decadent tasting menu - it’s was decadent!
We took the family to dinner. There is something for everyone here. The sushi is great. I recommend the dynamite scallop roll. I had the sea bass special (so good) with a side of Brussels sprouts. For dessert the Ube pot de Creme is worth it. We will definitely come back again.
Excellent service and exceptional drining. Very much enjoyed the experience.
Our server was amazing. We just adored her and she knew so much about the food and was able to help us decide on the best way to order for our group. We would definitely go back. Also the specialty cocktails were amazing as well!!!
Tried a new place for us. Excellent service by server and food runner. All courses were very good.
The food was excellent—our favorite was the tempura lobster! Our server, Wendy, was exceptional. Overall, a wonderful dinner!
Great place food was good service was excellent they know how to take care of people.
Great service, awesome food, nice ambience, all dining room looks clean and nice, everything was just perfect, big thanks for Roka Akor team!!! Defenetly highly recommending Roka Akor!
This was a rare occasion when our servers continued to fill out water glasses long after we had paid. Our first time to Roka and we really enjoyed it. The ambience was nice and the food was delicious. We all had strip steak and couldn’t resist dessert. I was very grateful to spend time with friends and not be left thirsty just because our food was gone. Our kind server was Sam. Thank you!
Decadent tasting menu was absolutely superb! 5 courses, but got to try 15-20 different things from the menu. Service was great too, good explanation of each of the different tasting items. Highly recommended, I look forward to my next opportunity to visit!
