Roka Akor - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
Had a fabulous dinner. The best were the lamb chops and the hot pot! Though the potstickers with kimchi and wagyu beef and the king crab were also excellent. Cocktails were super good! Went for an early with dad who is 91 and with a walker and the restaurant servers were most accommodating. Service was great actually! The place is hopping and filled with festive atmosphere. It is a little loud though so be prepared if coming with older ones. Will leave dad at home the next time. ;)
This place is amazing, I don’t think you can go wrong with any dish. The New York strip with bone marrow was to die for and the sashimi tasted so fresh. We also tried the wild mushroom and rice pot which was a great side item for sharing. Our server was wonderful as well, all the wines he recommended were very good, to the point where we went to Binnys post dinner to buy some bottles!
Came to Chicago for a wedding and a show. m Wanted an exquisite place to dine before hand and several recommended Roka Akor. We are ll glad we went as the food was delightful, tasteful and more than enough portions for us. Easy to get to and centrally located.
We were sat at a small table right next to the bus boy station which was loud and extremely distracting. Our server also never said her name or welcomed us, she went straight into what can I get you for drinks. The host and our server were aware it was my boyfriends birthday so she said she would bring something out after dinner. Well she never did. The bus boy must have heard me apologize to my boyfriend for the server not bringing him anything for his birthday because as we signed the check and we’re ready to leave our server came over to us and said oh I️ have something special for him coming. It seemed as though she just forgot but the whole experience wasn’t as special as I️ wished it would have been.
Overall, a great experience. The food was delicious. The one thing that bothered me was that the waitress specifically recommended the most expensive thing in each section of the menu. And some of the things we tried that she had recommended weren't as good as other things we got.
Wow!!! We had a fabulous time. We had the chef tasting menu Omakase Decadent. Oysters to start were smooth. The tartar, duck with truffle, crab, Chilean sea bass lobster tempura, wagyu rib eye, japanese wid rice with black truffle and premium sashimi left us in a state of euphoria. Thanks Ben and team for the best dining experience.
We went for my girlfriend's birthday. She said it is her favorite spot for Japanese food in the city. Some of the stuff was outstanding and some of it was just okay. for the price of the steak I would have expected a little bit more. Ordered the Filet medium (that's the way the gf likes it and it was closer to rare) and the accompanying sauce was just okay. Got mussels and there was nothing to sop up the sauce. However, the King Crab was delicious and worth the price; the Scallops were some of the best I've ever had; and the waygu and kim chi dumplings/gyozas were fantastic and worth the trip alone. So, overall good but, for a steakhouse I would have expected the steak to at least be cooked correctly which is why they get a 4/5 from me.
The service, especially cocktails from the bar, was a bit slow, but the restaurant was donating 100% of its profits from the night to hurricane relief which we were more than happy to support. Some of the items to share did not have serving utensils or extra plates which made things a little challenging, but the drinks and food were very tasty.
This Asian restaurant is on my Top 5 list for sushi/sashimi. Their food is outstanding and their service the same. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday (we're from Montreal and know great restaurants!) - they went above & beyond. Love, love, loved it. We are telling everyone we know to go there when in Chicago! 5+ stars!
