Roka Akor brings an unparalleled combination of thoughtful design and contemporary Robata Japanese cuisine to six locations across the U.S., including Scottsdale, AZ, San Francisco, Houston and three locations in the Chicagoland area. (Downtown Chicago, Old Orchard and Oakbrook, IL).

Roka Akor’s menu changes seasonally, including a rotating selection of prime-cut steaks, seafood, and vegetables with Japanese-inspired marinades and sauces, along with sushi and sashimi. We are also know for being one of the only restaurants in the United States to serve authentic Japanese Wagyu and Kobe Beef.

The restaurant’s design features a centrally located robata grill that provides the heart of the visual experience, surrounded by contemporary décor and sleek lighting. Guests are encouraged to speak with the chefs about the food to create an interactive and engaging dining experience.

Great ambiance, superb service. Delicious food, quality food. We were there for our 25th anniversary, we got a delicious surprise dessert on the house. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This was my first trip to Chicago and a must on our dining experience. The food was amazing and atmosphere was intoxicating. Ron the manager was extremely gracious and made the night unforgettable. Don’t miss this dining experience in the middle of downtown Chicago.

It was really good. We had the toro, the hamachi, and the sea bass and I could not find fault with the sea bass. It was really quite perfect. The toro and the hamachi were also lovely. I thought the dynamite scallop was only ok.

The kimchi wagyu beef dumplings were amazing; we ended up getting two orders. I am a big fan of miso glazed black cod, and although it was cooked beautifully I wasn’t a fan of the taste. With that being said the king crab was phenomenal. The real winner of the night was our waiter, Mark. He went above and beyond to make sure the birthday celebration was amazing. I’m looking forward to going back...and requesting Mark.

I made this reservation for my twin daughters that just turned 18 to celebrate their birthday. I wasn't able to make it, but they kept sending me pictures and telling me of their experience. The staff was amazing and professional. The waitress broke down the menu for them. They ordered the Wagyu Beef and thought it was perfectly cooked. Also some sushi that was delicious. They made it special by acknowledging their birthday and serving them some warm chocolate cake. I appreciate this restaurant for giving them the best customer service that they are known for and making their day great!

Excellent food and ample serving sizes. I go here frequently for business lunches. Most of the time, the service is very good, but it is hit or miss. Yesterday, I found myself gently reminding our server to please check on items that, given the passage of time, had likely been waiting for quite a while to come to our table. Our appetizer came out after the main dish, and the hot chocolate cake was no longer warm when it arrived. I'll still go back, but I sure wish the service was as consistently good as the food.

Had an incredible experience at Roka this weekend, with giant thanks owed to our server, Gary, who started our special evening off with a celebratory champagne toast.

The restaurants specialty is Japanese cuisine prepared on the 12 foot robata grill. The open air kitchen fills the restaurant with rich, mesquite charcoal -- fitting, as the name "Roka" translates to "to gather around the fire".

We started with a round of fresh shigoku oysters with a lime garnish and charred shishito peppers in a light ponzu sauce. The smokey flavor of the grill really comes out in these.

Next we shared the yellowtail sashimi, which also rests in that delicate ponzu to compliment the peppers, and the lobster maki. Dipping these in soy sauce would be practically criminal -- the flavor is perfect exactly as prepared!

Lastly, we shared the grilled pork belly with miso mustard & pickled cauliflower. It was incredibly flavorful and rich -- the 1900 degree flames from the robata grill didn't nearly dry out this amazingly moist cut.

But my favorite dish of the night was the Yuzu Miso marinated black cod (which, Gary explained to us is not actually cod at all, it's a sablefish!). This fish has an amazingly smooth, velvety texture with a high oil content which makes it ideal for smoking. The thick but delicate flakes hold in all the flavor, and then melts apart like butter in your mouth. I swear, I had an existential experience with this dish.

Finally, an additional toast compliments of our wonderful server, our evening closed with the fluffiest, creamiest, smoothest sorbet I think I've ever had.

We had such a great time that we had to take a moment to speak with assistant GM and sommelier, Neal Sage, to offer our praise for the entire experience. We can't wait to gather around the fire at Roka again!

Excellent service and food here. They catered to specific taste preferences, and our server took the time to answer our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal - especially the asparagus, sushi, and salmon.

We really appreciated and enjoy the signature tasting menu: your are in "chef's hands" but the experience was outstanding. The variety of dishes and tasting experience resulted in a balanced trade off with the price (the tasting menu option has not a cheap face value, so that you know). I recommend to try the tasting menu, and will plan to repeat that in the future.

Came all the way from Georgia to try Japanese wagyu and it did not disappoint. Also was celebrating our two years anniversary. Although we came for the wagyu the star of the show was the complimentary dessert (on top of what we already ordered) the ube custard. It was unlike anything we've ever had and the green tea mousse was a favorite as well. The next time we visit Chicago we definitely will be coming back here. Our waiter, Casey, has made it a wonderful experience as well. Can't thank him enough.

Simply put it was amazing. We had the Valentine’s Day special and it was a true dining experience. Fresh ingredients and talented chefs really make a difference. My wife and I really enjoyed our meal.

The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. And before this vist I I didn't really consider myself to be a sushi person but I was able to try a few different options and enjoyed them all. The shrimp tempura is also a must try

Came for Valentine’s Day and had a great time. Food and atmosphere were great! Service was a bit slow and we had to wait to be seated even though we were early for our reservation time. Overall would recommend.

I loved Roka Akor. The food was delicious.
We had a wonderful waiter, he suggested a delicious champagne and wagyu beef that we enjoyed so much.
Everyone provided attentive service. Our table was cleared immediately after every dish.
Will definitely go back!

We have visited Roka Akor many times before. I was excited to bring 2 friends for Restaurant Week. The food was great as always. Too loud for our liking as it made it hard to talk. The server did not mention the RW menu which was right in front of us. I didn’t feel we got the usual RA welcome and explanation of the menu nor were we asked if we had dined before. With deals you always worry you will be treated differently and I do feel so in this case. There was a mix up with the entrees which was our fault but the server promptly corrected it thank you so that was great! We had a 11.30 reservation so restaurant was only just getting busy...
