Rojo Mexican Grill - St. Louis Park
The stylish restaurant seats more than 280 guests and was designed to evoke traditional Mexican décor, but with a modern influence. Warm woods and soft red upholstery are offset by accents of leather, stone and steel. The dining room offers traditional table service and a generous view of the kitchen where diners can watch food prepared throughout the process. Three centrally located tables are dedicated to preparing hand-rolled tortillas, fresh guacamole and salsa in full view each day.

Service was sub-par
Great service. Flavorless food. Seriously, some salt even? We had chicken fajitas and chicken enchiladas. I’d be surprised if there was 1/4 of a breast on the fajita plate. Enchiladas looked amazing with a great broil on them, but again, no flavor. All bland. Oh well.
We had great service and the food was fantastic. The backroom lacked a bit of atmosphere but it was fine for our group. Everyone was pleased with what they ordered--my only complaint was the margarita. It just kind of tasted like something you'd have in college. It would be nice to have higher end cocktails available.
Our server was very flexible and accommodating for our special requests. I wish I would have caught his name so I could give him props here. But we only had a limited amount of time, so we spoke with him up front. He was very responsive, and made sure we were able to leave in time for our commitment. I only give the food a 4-star because I ordered the tacos with the corn tortillas, and the shell basically crumbled in my hands, making it a little awkward to eat. I'll try the flour tortillas next time. Overall, very satisfied, and really appreciate the quality service.
The food & margaritas were amazing! Our server Taylor was super friendly!
The hostess was carrying on a conversation with the bartender and didn’t acknowledge us right away. And our server was not very attentive and took an hour and a half for us. I had to find her to close out our bill.
Had a fun time for a birthday lunch. Love the margaritas!
Cassandra was a fantastic bartender/ waitress!
The interior design and ambiance of this restaurant is awesome. We went in hopes of catching happy hour margaritas prior to dining, but the bar was super packed and they don't offer HH prices in the dining room.
The food was presented well, however, really lacked in flavor. Would like to see more of a spice level - had to use quite a bit of hot sauce to perk it up.
Margaritas served without salted rims? ok. It was ok.
Wonderful time with family, great food and service. Interesting of the 8 of us, we all ordered one of the taco meals off the menu. The only reason I rated noise level a 4 was due to being outside and guys with fancy, loud cars needed attention - must be the testosterone, not Rojo's fault!
We love Rojo. The presidente margaritas are the best. Love the poblano queso! Patio was a little dark( as the sun went down). Service was very friendly, but a tad slow.
Great food, timely service
The food must have sat under the heat lamp too long. I had chicken tacos, the chicken was very dry and the avocado on the chicken was brown. Server good. Table very lopsided.
Good food, good service, but overpriced for both liquor and entrees.
Service was good. A little expensive.
We liked that there were ribs and hamburgers on the menu so we could invite a friend that doesn’t do Mexican.
Amazing food and wonderful service. I'll head back here numerous times.
Food quality has declined dramatically compared to the now closed Edina location.
Nice evening to sit outside with friends.
Server was spot on and good happy choices on the menu.
They had absolutely no record of our reservation. Is this an issue with the tech side or incompetence on the hostess staff? I don't know. But we had to wait for 20 mins.
Great location! Friendly staff. Clean. Efficient. Timely.
Service was outstanding; our server was very knowledgeable of the menu, and quick to help steer us in the right direction. I ordered the fajitas. They were underwhelming. Not a lot of flavor. I liked that they came with guacamole. Friendly host and very friendly, fast and well versed server. Just not blown away by any flavors.
Fun spot with good food. Glad we stopped in
The marqurita was very bitter and I had to return it. My friends tacos were soft and she could not pick them up to eat. I ordered a quesadilla and it was very salty and if there was any chicken in it, I could not find it! Sorry
Good/not great food, nice outdoor seating, friendly staff.
First visit to this restaurant. Sat in booth and table height was awkward. We are not short people and felt like we were reaching up to the table to get to our meals. Table heights should be adjusted. Portions were generous including Margaritas! Food was fine but just wasn’t quite what we were expecting.
Was there for 3+ hours and our water glass was never refilled. Shrimp tacos weren't very good. Good ambiance sitting outside though!
I love Rojo - good simple, but yummy Mexican! I continue to go back.
While I enjoy the space and service is always above average I am generally underwhelmed by the food and drinks. My margarita was average and tasted of a kid even though I ordered the premium option. The chimi was decent but could have benefited from a more delicate hand with the sauce topping and more protein in the middle. Chips and sals are always a delight.
Just wasn’t overwhelmed with the food or the service... Ended up paying $30 for my meal and drink... probably worth $15.
OH and happy hour is only at the bar! Not normal seating, just so you all can adjust your expectations!
Server was great, food was great!! We sat on the patio, which was great, but the music was really loud so it was hard to hear.
Food was decent. The sweet rice though was sickeningly sweet though.
We found a fried sugar packet in our chips. Probably won't be back.
Great outdoor seating!
Ok food, but not many options for people that can only eat gluten free foods. Which is very strange considering we can eat so much at other Mexican restaurants.
Great happy hour!
Great food, drinks, and service however on Thurs, May 9th the kitchen had quite a bit of smoke coming from it after the dinner rush and it was fairly uncomfortable to sit in. After I left I realized my clothes smelled very badly and of smoke that I had to wash all clothing and shower given the smoke was so potent. Other than the smoke from the kitchen, it was a great experience.
Great place for lunch. Warmer weather there is a lot of outdoor seating which will be nice
Wait staff were excellent, but the food was mediocre at best. Soft shell ground beef tacos had little beef and too much lettuce, and were served cool (not warm, not cold, but cool).
Why did I have lunch there? I have dined at Rojo's many times, and most of the time everything is excellent. But, once in a while, it is mediocre.
Best food ever 👍🏻
