Rojo Mexican Grill - St. Louis Park
The stylish restaurant seats more than 280 guests and was designed to evoke traditional Mexican décor, but with a modern influence. Warm woods and soft red upholstery are offset by accents of leather, stone and steel. The dining room offers traditional table service and a generous view of the kitchen where diners can watch food prepared throughout the process. Three centrally located tables are dedicated to preparing hand-rolled tortillas, fresh guacamole and salsa in full view each day.

Met a group of friends for a casual lunch and had a lovely time. Our server was attentive and friendly and the food was great! I had the chicken tostada appetizer and loved the taste and the crunch.
Rojo never disappoints for a good business lunch. Great food and service!
Love the chicken tortilla soup every time!
Great food and excellent service...as usual. One of my favorite go to spots. Servers were outstanding
The food was good - I had chicken tacos. I wasn’t a huge fan of the rice personally but the rest of the meal was excellent. I also had the fried ice cream, which was good. The service was great as well - the staff all seemed to help each other, which isn’t always the case. Overall a good experience and I will be back to try other menu items!
Birthdays too bad they didn’t have a candle for desert :)
Rojo Mexican Grill has a shorter menu than most, which greatly speeds the ordering process. They also will not try to overfeed you with rice/beans like others. Their chips/salsa is delicious, they make a decent margarita, and overall the food is good. If you're not a huge fan of cotija cheese, ask them to go easy on it. Most of the flavors on my plate was overpowered by the quantity of it. If I had the meal to order over again, I would've skipped the very dry carne asada and a different protein for my tacos.
The weirdest margarita I’ve ever had. It was bubbling and I thought it was mixed wrong. I ssentnit back and the second one was the same. The server said it’s their regular mix. It tasted like a margarita/mojito combo. I’m
Not a fan of fizzy alcoholic drinks except for mojitos so this wasn’t what I expected or good.
I got a very bad upset stomach after eating but service was fabulous
A very busy restaurant that wears its success very well. Staff is friendly, reservations are respected, and waiters capable, including offering fool-proof suggestions to the undecided diner. At night it is very busy and the noise level is at times intimidating. However we've been here for lunch and dinner several times and excepting the noise level noted, with no part of the experience diminished. Ever
Great food. Family friendly.
Great Margaritas. My favorite is fajitas. Lovely atmosphere.
Fabulous carnitas tacos, just the right amount of attentive service, and not too noisy to carry on business conversation
I generally really enjoy your food but it was just so-so on this visit. I ordered the beef tacos for the first time and the meat tasted old and icky. The corn tortillas were also old and fell apart when I tried to eat the taco. The sweet rice was good - but cold. This is the first time I have been disappointed in the food - it's usually very good.
Everything was great except the napkins, they were hard as a rock and very uncomfortable to my skin.
Happy Hour is first come, first served and is not available in the restaurant area - only at the bar. Made reservations, but it didn't matter there was no room at the bar. Didn't stay and went over to Crave. Great happy hour (available throughout the entire restaurant), lots of drink and food options!
Never disappointed. I always order the chopped salad with shrimp. It is an excellent light lunch!
My go to Mexican between the city and the lakes. Love the enchiladas and the outdoor seating.
The server who was assigned to us rarely checked on us and I had to go look for her to get the check so we could get back to the office. When I went up to the bar she was right on the other side and never looked up toward the front... other staff were around as well and not one acknowledged me to help.
Great staff and food only downfall was no Happy Hour outside of the bar area that was a little loud.
Great server! Great food!
Temperature not hot for Foods that should be hot. Quality of cheese low. Waste of plastics (straws) — suggestion for management to get on board with reducing landfill waste.
I was very disappointed. Brought good friends to have dinner. Host was rude. Server was on her first day, and had no supervision, and was VERY non responsive. I go there for lunch alot and thought this would be an easy dinner out. Wont do that again.
This Rojo location has a great patio! The food was delicious and the margaritas were outstanding.
The food was ok-nothing extra special
Service was amazing, as normal. So was the food!
While I have greatly enjoyed Rojo on past occasions this was not the same experience. It was right at opening and the service was still rest but the food was less than expected. The chips tasted stale and my margarita had an off flavor. Side bar was also that floors throughout the restaurant were extremely slippery. I noticed they attempted to put down rugs where they could.
Food was great and our waitress was terrific given the volume of customers she was serving. We were seated at a table outdoors right next to a door that was being accessed by employees to run orders, food, etc. We had not experienced any problems with this until one of the employees kicked the door open hard and it swung out surprising is. It did not hit my friend but the guy gave us s dirty look. Another guy who was assisting him looked at us and said “you are fine.” As the seemingly annoyed guy approached the door again to go back inside he looked at our table shaking his head in disapproval. Based on this experience with this employee, I will not be returning to this location of Rojo. I would recommend he take up concerns about where the tables and chairs are located to his manager. I also ordered a meal to take with me for my husband. It was supposed to come with tortillas. Got home and the first thing he asked me was “Where are the tortillas?” There weren’t any in the sack.
Very good food. Had to ask for chips couple of times and water as well.
Server Terri is wonderful
Enjoyed quality Mexican food at Rojo. Tried the nacho fries - wasn’t impressed. They were greasy and drenched in queso. The bartender said they had too much queso on them and apologized. Otherwise, the Chips, salsa, fajitas, and bartender service were all great. Great Mexican food!
My husband I ate here for dinner before seeing a movie across the street. Our server Sasha was very friendly and timed our service perfectly so that were able to get to our movie on time. The food and margaritas were delicious. We will definitely be eating at Rojo again.
Food was gross, service mediocre.
Absolutley would recommend Rojo! It was my first time and I loved it❤️ Check it out
I've walked past Rojo Mexican Grill many times, but I never ate there prior to this lunch meeting. So I figured it was about time I checked it out. While I was not blown away by the food, service or decor, I have to say Rojo proved to be a good, solid lunch spot. I had a small chop salad and a chicken burrito with rice and refried beans and everything was very good. Our server was very good, if not extraordinary or very memorable. I'd have to say the same about the decor. All that being said, I will consider going back to Rojo the next time I have a meeting in the West End area of Minneapolis.
Have eaten here many times. This last time, we arrived during happy hour. The manager refused our table happy hour prices because we were not seated in the bar. We had table reserved, but even so, the bar was full. On other visits, we have been given happy hour prices. Disappointing!
Where’s my points?
Best Guacamole! I love their chips and salsa. I got grilled chicken tacos this time and they were awesome!
I never know quite what to expect at Rojo. One time the food can be great; next time just mediocre. Service is professional.
An odd observation on this visit: We went at 5pm on a Friday, which seems to be a little before their dinner rush. The dining room was fairly empty, and it seemed really odd to be forced to watch all of the prep activity going on for the evening. Women doing condiment prep; the shift change occuring (people coming and going, putting on coats, greeting/saying good-bye); The main line being stocked w/ dishes, condiment containers being filled.
I guess I don't think watching the inner workings of a restaurant are necessarily very appetizing.
The chicken enchiladas, chips, salsa, and guacamole was amazing! I also enjoyed the strawberry, jalapeño margarita. The only downside was it was a bit crowded and left little room to easily walk between tables. We will definitely be back!!
