Rojo Mexican Grill - Edina

We were seated right away in a 2 booth near the kitchen, very busy and loud would have preferred a different seat but the hostess did not offer 3 other booths we passed up. The salza with the chips was really watered down and no flavor, asked the waitress for small plates twice before bringing them to us. Had the tacos. Shrimp tacos were great the chicken not so much. beans nothing special and the rice was ok, not that into sweet rice. I was a little disapointed but it was date night so tried to make the best of it. We do not drink and most people were drinking margaritas, it took quite awhile to get our food and the waitress was not very attentive.
cost was a little high and due to high open ceiling was pretty loud even though not a lot of people but the food and service was really good. The carnita pork tacos were wonderful. However, 3 very small tacos, a scoop of rice, small bowl of refried beans and glass of wine came to $31 after tip. I would return
We arrived for our Easter reservation and Rojo was closed. Perfectly reasonable to close for the holiday but you’d think they would indicate that when I made the reservation. We had to scramble to find something at the last minute which was stressful and annoying with 7 people.
I usually love Rojo so was very disappointed.
They gave us a reservation for a large group on Easter. We got there and it wasn't open. Epic fail.
We made a reservation for nine on Easter at 11am and received confirmation. We all drove there and stood outside waiting for them to open at 11am only to find that there was no one inside!!! They were closed on Easter but accepted our reservation. 😡
That lobster enchilada was not good. Chewy and mostly flavorless.
Th food was great - service was not. Server never asked to refill drinks, had to ask for water. He was not proactive.
Amazing Service - delicious and fresh - ambiance is sassy - pepsi products
Excellent food, excellent service, definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been at!!
Service was incredible. Kelly was awesome. The food is really good, bid portions and quick. The rice is really sweet...which I didn’t enjoy but great experience
The thing I like about Rojo is consistency - regardless of which location I go to, the food is the same. I would have given it a higher rating, but the new feature of a guitarist/singer (with a really bad voice) totally ruined it for me. I was having a nice conversation with normal voice control, then all of a sudden this bad singer, that was rather loud - interrupted the free flowing conversation.
The food was amazing. Normally I'm not a big fan of the rice and beans offered at most Mexican restaurants, but Rojo's rice and beans were out of the world. My wife was surprised by how well they tasted too. Our entrees were both great. We will be coming back.
Our server, Sam, was excellent! It made for a wonderful experience.
They sat us nest to the door and it was positively polar every time someone came in or left. I tried to mitigate the vortex by raising the hood on my parka, and thought this might intimate our discomfort, but finally stated that we needed to move. Our waitress (a paragon of virtue) moved us right away. Then 2 minutes later someone else was seated at our old table demonstrating the vacuity of the taciturn matradee. It's ironic that you can freeze in a restaurant featuring food from a warm country. The food itself was mundane fare and came quickly. The ambiance was dull and a little noisy. A man was playing guitar and singing, and he was super nice, but hard to listen too because of a poor sound system. We decamped to the mall to which the restaurant was anchored as soon as we could. This may have been a one-off experience and the restaurant was at least serviceable so we might try returning for tacos for lunch during the summer.
In general its very hard to hear conversations at your table. This evening they had someone playing and singing on a guitar. Just awful. Couldnt wait to leave
Enchiladas we excellent. The Shrimp Tacos were a bit spicier than expected. Maybe that info could be on your menu for future. The chips and salsa were fantastic! Overall a great experience.
Our server, Cario was so attentive. He was great.
There was alive music.
Ask for a table away from the door. A lot of cold air comes in during the winter.
We LOVE Rojo Restaurant! Always great food and drinks. Nice and relaxing. Good service. Highly recommend.
It's always a good experience at Rojo...the food is delicious and the service is fantastic. Valentine's Day was no exception. Their specialty drink of the night, Cupid's Arrow, was a decadent treat, and our meals were wonderful as always. Our server was extremely attentive, sweet and friendly. I took off only one star for the fact that one side of the restaurant is very cold, due to a door that opens frequently. Several diners had to move to different tables for that reason. I wish there was something they could do to combat that. But overall, it's always a great time at Rojo!
We went to Rojo for my daughter's 21st birthday. We were seated right away. The service was very good and the food was tasty.
Cold wind blew in from the mall on a regular basis
Our waiter was wonderful and the atmosphere was nice. The food was a little bland and the guitarist was ok. I had the chicken enchiladas and my husband had the chicken chimichanga. I enjoyed the margarita and again the staff was great!
We had reservations, but went on an odd night. Extreme cold weather was shutting the place down not long after we arrived. I can't say if our experience was typical with the odd weather and early closing. Okay food (the meat in the house special was really fatty), slow but good service, Cadillac Margaritas were good. Overall we left full and in good spirits, but it was nothing that left us saying "wow."
We had a family get together and had a great time!! Chelsea did a great job waiting on us and was super friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant! The food was great too!
Unfortunately, we were sat near the side entrance door, and the cold air really made for a less than ideal dinner for our family.
Love this restaurant! The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Sam was our waiter and he was super friendly and did a great job. I would highly recommend Rojo, Edina!
Very good food, great service, worth the trip from Farmington. We will be coming back!
Company was great but food was just okay. Hostess was unhelpful and server was fantastic considering how busy she was.
Nachos came out on a hot plate but were cold.
One of our favorite restaurants. We will go out of our way to eat there.
Waitress very kind and quick. Food came out quick as well. I got the tomatillo side salad and steak kabobs. Salad was delicious, steak was rather dry, but OK.
I booked the reservation ahead of time for a birthday get together. The table was ready on time and the margaritas were amazing. Great choice for a birthday!
Really like the margaritas.
I have not had a bad meal there,
Rojo was simply "meh". Nothing great, nothing terrible. I would not recommend going there, and personally will not return. Not because it was bad, but because I would want better. Better food, better selection, better staff - just better.
Can never go wrong with the queso!
Decent food, a bit expensive. Service was good but not excellent. Makyala was pleasant but the follow up on service wasn't great for refills etc. Food did not come out all at the same time either.
Enjoyable evening dining there with friends. Parking was a problem. Had to walk some distance in the cold and icy conditions.
Service was good, food was not good at all. Fajitas were tasteless. Don’t plan to return again.
Probably the poorest mexican food in the Twin cities
