Permanently Closed - Rojo Mexican Grill - Downtown
The stylish restaurant seats more than 280 guests and was designed to evoke traditional Mexican décor, but with a modern influence. Warm woods and soft red upholstery are offset by accents of leather, stone and steel. The dining room offers traditional table service and a generous view of the kitchen where diners can watch food prepared throughout the process. Three centrally located tables are dedicated to preparing hand-rolled tortillas, fresh guacamole and salsa in full view each day.
We arrived at 4:10 and the restaurant was closed. Hours listed indicated they should have been open. Are they even still in business? We walked next door to Barrio and had a lovely meal there.
Great food! (I order the beef enchiladas with green sauce) and service. Waitress was very attentive. Did have to wait long for our food to arrive. Excellent complimentary chips and salsa while we waited.
Food and atmosphere was good. Service wasn't great and we received our meals before we received our cocktails which was disappointing. We would have had more drinks, but the first round came so late.
Fun to be downtown on the mall. Food was okay but not like I had craved at Rojo in past. Service was excellent. Drinks were good.
Ate outside. Food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. Arrived 15 minutes before reservation and were promptly seated and waited on. Waitress was very good and kept checking with us to see how the food was and if we needed additional beverages or dessert. Overall excellent experience.
Good food, they were quite busy. I ordered the house specialty, the waitress said it was somewhat spicy, I didn't think it was as spicy as the salsa(mild to medium) that came with the chips.
Good overall but expensive for a portion that was small compared with a normal Mexican restaurant. Got home and was hungry two hours later, Drinks are good but use too much ice in the margarita and gives you almost little liquid in the drink!
It was busy but the server did a horrible job of recognizing we were seated before others who were getting attended to.
The food and the service was very good. It was super loud, but I think that's to be expected at happy hour time on a Friday - just wasn't conducive to our meal that night.
Service was horrible. Drinks were so strong it was like a shot each time you took a sip.
Great food, poor service. Incredibly loud music.
Everything was perfect; except our waiter seemed to be a bit overwhelmed with the amount of tables he was assigned to that our order was forgotten about.
the nachos I had were bland and terrible.
the quantity was huge, but the flavor was not there
Over all it was an okay experience. Made reservations, when we checked in with the hostess she offered the rooftop, great! Little did we know it was limited food and drink menu when we were seated. It would have been nice if we were told that up front. The food was eatable, drinks were drinkable but not like the main dining or other Rojo restaurants.
The service was not that great. We pointed this out to the managers and they seemed very nice but then initial service we received was very lack luster and continued even after getting a new server.
We had to ask twice for chips and salsa, which was met with a bit of sass. Our meal came before our starter. One of the dishes listed avocado but came without.
Alex was incredibly nice. Best place in town!
Food and service were excellent! I would recommend for a lunch outing. The tacos had a lot of flavor and were very filling.
Service was horrible! Host did not smile or say hello - "just how many"? Once seated we had 2 people come by, the first was after 5 minutes to clear the table we were sat at. The next person our waiter waked by and asked if our table was wiped off, no hello, how are you.. I went to the host stand after 20 minutes of sitting at our table not even with water - she said she would send someone right over..4 minutes pass we received flatware - still no hello or water...we left went to the place next door, was greeted with a smile, sat, cocktail order taken and $300.00 later we walked out happy.
Excellent service, food was good
After many good experiences at the West End Rojo location, I was disappointed with the experience at the Downtown restaurant. It was evident that the location was rushed to open its doors; the host staff didn't know the table numbers, the serving staff was overwhelmed by the downtown lunch rush, and the food and beverages were disappointing at best. The restaurant location is an odd choice, seeing as it is right next door to another established Mexican restaurant, Barrio. I'm unlikely to return to this Rojo location in the future.
We had a mid-size group over the lunch hour and they were very accommodating. It has great space for larger groups. Food was excellent.
Server was nice. They charge per glass of ice tea which is a little odd. Food was presented nice but not overly flavorful
One of the glasses was not clean, it had debris in it from someone else previous drink. One of us ordered the Hickory Burger and the bun had mold on the bottom. The restaurant did comp the burger, but I felt the entire meal should have been comp'd. I will NOT be returning to Randle's.
Had a great time watching the Super Bowl. Plenty of TV views from all seats.
Arrived at restaurant, couldn't find reservation. Got seated In a 95% empty restaurant at 5.45 pm., on a Saturday night. Service was very good, but most food items were small portions, high prices, and at best poor quality food. Would have sent some items back to the kitchen, but we were having fun talking to each other. Soda cost was $3.50 plus tax and tip. Cocktails were great tasting at $10+ each. When leaving at 7.50 pm, the restaurant was still 60% empty. Needing a new head cheft, lower prices and a good or great promotion, otherwise I can guarantee Mr. Randle' restaurant will be short lived!
Great atmosphere, great food, great service
Very slow to get us drinks & the restaurant was relatively empty so not sure why. Food was mediocre but our server was very nice.
Really enjoyed the food & atmosphere. Will go back.
We had some pre new year's eve appetizers and drinks here. Food was very good and service was friendly. Only disappointment is bringing main entre barely after delivering soup. It made a clutter on the table and is just not good service. Great place to watch sports.
The food was average. The specialty drinks were either unavailable or not that great. The service was terrible - very slow and inattentive. We were not in a hurry, but drinks would come out 10 minutes apart for people when ordered at the same time. Appetizers arrived without plates or silverware. This place is just average.
Good food and service. Could have done without the blaring trivia night contest.
Four of us ate dinner at Randle's before the NCAA volleyball championship. The location was great & everyone liked their food. The menu has a variety but not a huge menu so it's not overwhelming to make a choice. The noise level could be reduced by turning the TV volumes off, since there are a number of TV screens so why have the volume up on any of them. That would make it easier to visit. We could hear each other OK but I think if our group size had been more than just 4, it would have been difficult to converse. We loved that they took reservations and we were able to be seated immediately after our arrival. We were there in the winter but it should be noted that they have a lot of outdoor seating in the summer. It's an easy walk to many of the sports, music, & theater venues in Minneapolis.
This was such a great place, the food was soooo good! It’s also a great place to go watch games.
The food was very good, and the atmosphere nice as well. Our server was ALWAYS in a hurry, and the place was not busy. This does not suggest we were ignored, but simply paid little attention at best. My wife is gluten free. Options are extremely limited. Likely would not return because of this.
Chicken tortilla soup and kale coleslaw were amazing. Would go back just for that. My daughter ate my leftover ahi tuna sandwich and wanted to get one herself ASAP.
First course consisted of fried cheese curds which took an inordinate amount of time to be served, about 35 minutes. Granted, the place was very busy with customers. Quite tasty, though, once they arrived, and not at all greasy. My wife had the grilled cheese and arugula sandwich, and I opted for the seared tuna sandwich. Both were very good but again, took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, about 45 minutes. Cocktails were spot on: the Manhattan and the Cosmopolitan.
Overall food: A-
Overall service: C
Overall ambience: Place was loud as hell.
I met a friend for happy hour. It was our first time at Randle's.
We shared four appetizers. The food was really good, drinks too.
Jeremy was our waiter and took good care of us.
Fun atmosphere. Great place for watching sports!
We'll be back.
Always a great time at Randle’s watching sports & catching up with friends! Shout out to Jeremy for the great service!
We were called 1 1/2 hours before our reservation and told that they can't full-fill our reservation and it snuck into the Open Table system as available but were then told the restaurant had booked a group event and they would not honor our reservation. Our group does not believe that that is the case. We will not dine there again or even attempt to.
