It was a fun place for a Sunday brunch, relaxed and very friendly. Great food and they have a reasonable mimosa flight. Very accommodating for larger parties. Made it very easy and it was a great first dining experience all around.
Great location with seasonal dishes. Interesting twists on sushi to make it unique to ROE.
Our group of 5 enjoyed the happy hour Mojitos, along with a couple of the appetizers. Later, the entree meals were fantastic!
Excellent food and ambiance. Try the scallops! And the calamari!
Service was so slow. I have never had a problem with service here. I’m hoping it was just a fluke. Otherwise, food and drinks were amazing.
I reserved a table for 15. Though many arrivals were late, our server was friendly and accommodating. They offered a children's menu with crayons. There was also a live guitarist. (The volume was very high, and at times this made table talk kinda difficult.) Overall, a superb experience.
I was really excited to try this restaurant so I chose to go for my birthday. The ambiance was great and service was good which is highly important to me. However, I was extremely disappointed in the food especially considering the price. The potato wedge appetizers were tasty and my daughter’s bean and cheese burrito was pretty delicious; but the seabass meal I ate and the other meal of steak was flavorless and expensive for the quality. I was extremely surprised as it seemed to have good reviews. Honestly, I wouldn’t go back again.
The food is wonderful. Lots of flavor and many unique recipes. The service is adequate. The only criticism is that it is very noisy and therefore hard to have a conversation.
I've eaten here twice now; once for dinner and once for lunch. Don't understand the superlative reviews. I find the food pretty uninspiring and way over priced for what it is. I do like the location.
Previously to dining in for a birthday celebration recently, I had a work event at Roe and fell in love with everything about the restaurant. However on my most recent visit the experience wasn’t as great. Our waiter wasn’t attentive to the needs of the table. A guest in the party asked for more of a particular condiment and it didn’t come until the meal was done. Along with water no being refilled. The vegan plate was was a small portion of vegetables and legumes which didn’t seem to be fairly priced. The overall service was very slow and portions were small for the pricings of the plates.
One of our favorite restaurants in Long Beach. Jake, our server, was outstanding. Food was excellent as usual. We took a friend of ours with us, he had never been to Roe before and loved it. Wonderful lunch!
A friend and I went to dinner here on a Monday about 5pm. The service was excellent and the food very good. We sat outside on a small patio area which was very nice, but you are right on Second Street and at times the street noise was very distracting, especially the motorcycles! As already stated the food was very good, but even the Happy Hour specials were more than I would pay elsewhere for the same thing. My friend who lives in the area thinks the prices reflect the high cost of doing business in this area and has seen a lot of good restaurants come and go because of this. Overall a good place to eat, but for easy conversation you might want to sit further into the restaurant.
Great food, service, and location. Such delicious choices to select from.
Roe was a recommendation of a friend as a central location so I had no knowledge or expectations. It was a great place and the four of us had food and cocktails for a reasonable amount sitting outside on the patio watching the world go by. I would recommend.
Very good food.
A bit on the noisy side, which can make casual conversation difficult.
Takes a while, but very good food.
So, the place has great atmosphere and good service and drinks. However, when it came to the food, we all found it to be very underwhelming. The presentation and portion was nice and the menu had some exciting options, including an O.K. selection of Oysters, yet the plates lacked any real flavor profile. It's a shame because it's a nice place to eat, I just have no desire to head back in. Another reviewer compared Roe to Connie and Teds in WeHo....I think not.
The tables you get with open table are not the best ones. For example, the restaurant will be almost empty but they will give you the high top at the far back corner of the restaurant which was at the end of the bar where the bar backer is, and a ton of flies due to all the citrus prep cutting at the bar.
Just great! Worth the drive! This is a destination restaurant and we go as often as possible!
Outstanding dinner, as always. Sashimi and poke taco had freshest fish. Sat on sidewalk patio for first time—perfect land a little quieter while guitarist played inside.
I don't want to blame the server, he was nice but the experience was a bit disappointing. Some of the dishes took quite a long time to come out. We ended up canceling one dish and asked if the other missing dish was put in for the kitchen staff. The rest of the table finished their meals and the one missing dish still hadn't arrived, we were going to just cancel it but the waiter said it was almost done. It finally came out but the steak was medium rare when it was ordered medium. All of the other dishes tasted great though.
Always great food and service. Loved when they were just a food truck and the Restraunt is even better
The food was EXCELLENT. The service was good. The only thing that was a little off were the drinks. Martini did not taste right, nor did it have an olive. We had to go to the bar to ask for the garnishes that should be coming with classic cocktail drinks. Other than that, everything was great!
Casual, comfortable restaurant. Went for lunch and ate soup( very good) Seafood Cobb salads, burger, and chocolate panna cotta. The weakest link was the burger which was so " gooped up" with caramelized onions and cheese that the bun was soggy and you couldn't taste what was very good meat. I felt we didn't taste the real fish dishes that define the restaurant .
I was excited to try this restaurant since it had such good reviews and the location is within walking distance to home.
We had to wait for our table even though we had reservations.
Our server was obviously having a bad day.
I ordered the grilled Mexican shrimp thinking it was going to be delicious...what a disappointment. It was over cooked and had absolutely no flavor. It was like chewing on rubber. My companion ordered fish and chips which were just okay.
I’m giving them one star because the seafood chowder was pretty darned good.
The final kick was having to pay $82 for two people. No drinks...just water.
Our serve Chase ( like the bank) was great. Good was really good. They have an awesome happy hour menu. Chase had some great recommendations. We love the rock fish ceviche!
All around Greatest Restaurant I’ve been to in a very long time!! The service was above and beyond, & the food was decadent and very well presented!
The hostess was very friendly when greeting us and sat us quickly. Our waitress, however, was not very attentive and we had to flag her down when we wanted to order anything. As soon as our food came out we were swarmed with flies. The food was all awesome, per usual but trying to swat flies away the entire time took away from the meal. The hostess did acknowledge and try to help but no one else paid any mind to the flies or our hands constantly swatting them away...maybe they thought we just talked with our hands a lot??? I indicated we we're celebrating two birthdays when making the reservation both in the comments and the "occasion" section on open table but no one acknowledged that at all. Not that we needed a song and dance but acknowledging it with a "happy birthday" would have been nice.
had a reservation for 4 people at 9:00 on a Saturday night..had to wait 20 minutes til they sat us for whatever reason. Waiter was nice but had to ask him s well as the person who delivered food to our table multiple times for cocktail sauce and a ponzu sauce they finally got it on 4 time. Food was mediocor nothing to brag about.
Terrific service, delicious food.
Crustacean Bisque & the Chowder tasted fabulous. Sushi very tasty.
Lemon tart & Chocolate tart fantastic.
Our server was excellent. Will definitely go again & recommend.
This was our 2nd time here. Very fresh food and fair sized entrees. The happy hour adds lots of value too. A bit more attention from the server would have been appreciated.
Amazing spot. We love Roe for any occasion, one of the best resturaunts in all of Long Beach!! Love the Indoor/Outdoor feel, great service and amazing quality seafood. Would recommend 10/10
Service was excellent
Cool vibe and great food!
Roe lunch on the patio is a great way to experience this restaurant. I’m a huge fan of their food and chef. Cocktails are also fabulous. But don’t sit inside at night if you want to talk to each other. Too loud!
Good restaurant with an interesting menu. Good bar with well made cocktails. I've eaten here many times and thoroughly enjoy it. However, each time, the service has been spotty. You can't be pressed for time at this restaurant.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Roe. It was my first visit, his third. Practically everything on the menu looked and tasted great - fried calamari, the oysters, salmon, sushi. You could do a dinner of sides in order to try different things. We enjoyed talking with our table neighbors about what they were having. The drinks were also great, although there was a bit of a delay in getting them and our appetizers came before. That was a mix-up but our waiter took off the calamari off the check, which was thoughtful. The folks on one side of us were celebrating a birthday that came with a nice little dessert for the birthday girl. The bar scene was pretty lively - I might just sit at the bar and have appetizers one night and people watch. Overall, great experience and we will definitely return.
We had the best time here fir my Sister's Birthday 🎂. 110% Satisfied with Jennifer's customer service and suggestions. The atmosphere was perfect for a Saturday afternoon. Food was on point preparation, presentation and the pallete. We will be back and we will spread the word...
Expensive but totally fabulous and worth it. When you get fresh, unusual food, prepared perfectly I don't mind spending a lot. Polynesian style ceviche was phenomenal! Come early because it's a happening night scene. Loved it and will be back!
Great atmosphere, good food, and amazing service! Def recommend!
