This is our favorite place in Charlotte! Best oysters in town!
We were a party of three and enjoyed the outdoor patio seats. There is a nice wine, drink, and beer selection. We ordered two appetizers: half a pound peel & eat shrimp…very disappointing! The shrimp size was good, but there were only about 5 or 6, they were in a small bowl that actually had more vegetables underneath than we had shrimp. We also ordered the grilled oyster sampler, which had six oysters of three different flavors… they were very tasty! For dinner, we ordered the fish of the day which was a grilled grouper. We also ordered the scallops entrée. And we ordered a dozen oysters. Again, the scallop entrée was disappointing and only had four scallops. They were cooked good, just not near enough. The grouper was a nice size, so that was refreshing to see, and tasted pretty good. And the selection of oysters to order from was nice. But overall for the prices of all of these items we are not sure we could recommend that it’s worth it. We did leave saying that we may return, just to order oysters sometime, and some adult beverages, but probably not for any of the other menu items.
Amazing oysters and chowder. Excellent drinks - had a great outdoor dining experience on their patio.
The interaction with the host when we first walked in set the tone for our entire experience. We were not greeted, which is unusual for any restaurant, but especially for one charging $32 for scallops. Honestly, I thought I hadn't heard him, but my friend confirmed that he didn't acknowledge us. He only asked, "What's the name on the reservation?", and that's it. And his tone was not warm or friendly. We were definitely bothering him by just being there. The food and drinks I had were middle of the road (the crab cakes were good, skip the mac n cheese), therefore I don't feel the need to even visit again.
Our server was awesome and very attentive. Our oysters, Mac & Cheese, and creme brûlée were delish. The trout dip is a TON for 2 people and unique flavor. Didn’t love it. Moscow mule, old fashion, and espresso martini were great. Apple Rita was way too strong. Neither of us could tolerate it. Overall, we would certainly come back and try some more things!
The food is amazing and the outdoor patio has great ambiance.
Great place for oysters...really good shrimp and grits....portions are a bit small and the wines by the glass were unimpressive....nice outdoor dining area...solid local place
Food was excelent, service was top notch. they were a little short staffed so things took a few minutes longer. But no worries. Its worth the wait.
Good was really good!!
Best oyster chowder in Charlotte! The mussels in white wine were outstanding! A place where you always find fresh fish of the highest quality!
Rocksalt is the first place I must always go while in Charlotte! I LOVE their old salt oysters during happy hour and the oyster chowder was the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend. It was pretty busy and seemed short staff but they made sure to do their best to stay on top of it l, getting each customer what they needed and as soon as they could. My cup was always filled with water at least and that I appreciated. The food didn’t take long to come at all either. I will always visit while in Charlotte.
The server was pleasant, the food presentation was very nice, taste of all food was flavorful. Price to portion slightly off, but overall I woule recommend.
Shockingly bad. We went for brunch and were served burnt toast and eggs that were obviously cooked on a filthy grill - the whites were a bizarre bluish gray. I can’t believe they’d send something out that looked like that. One of our party ordered a Coke but was told the restaurant was out of Coke. Another asked for lettuce and tomato on their burger and was told there was none available. The oyster chowder was salty to the point on inedibility. To top it off, our server was inattentive and had to be waved down to take our drink order 10+ min after we were seated. We will never come back here again.
We know in this day of COVID & restaurants being short staffed, we try.to be patient. There is patient & then beyond. Our food was very slow to come & when it got there just not very good. We ordered PEI mussels - 2 orders & waited forever for those to come. When they did, they were full of grit & inedible. We left them on our plates & our waitress never asked what was wrong. Rather than her telling the manager there was a problem, she asked if we would tell him the order was slow & it was not good. Obviously, we left the restaurant, after paying the full bill & will never go back.
My wife and I saw this restaurant online and wanted to try it out. Our experience felt pretty average which kinda stinks because we both had high hopes. No one did anything "wrong", it's just nothing at all sparked the idea that we should return. As we left, someone dressed differently than everyone else working (I assume a manager of sorts) thanked us for coming. My wife noted he checked in with other tables, but didn't do so with us. Likely won't be returning.
It was delicious!
The $1 oysters on Tuesdays - Fridays from 4pm - 6pm are a great treat for oyster lovers. I loved the seafood both times I've been there.
Great food. Cool atmosphere
It was great. Wish the entree portions were a bit bigger.
Service slow. Main meal came before oyster appetizer. Scallops for $32 were four tiny scallops on a bed of wilted spinach. Will not return.
Reservations were for 7:30. The service seemed a little slow but not terrible. Was a bit disappointed when several things on the menu were no longer available. There seemed to be some kind of dispute that I’m nit sure if the manager was the one taking to the table near us but it was pretty uncomfortable. There were threats made like if you talk to our staff like that again I’ll make sure other restaurants know about it. Seemed like whomever went over there to make a point made their point but then wouldn’t let it go and it got weird. Not sure if the food I had was so good that I’d go back but the patio was very nice.
They seem to have new wait staff. I’m sure it will be fine when they are staffed up again
Food was great, service outstanding! We sat on the covered patio and was worried about being “forgotten” since we were the only ones who chose to sit outside but we couldn’t have asked for better service! Oysters were amazing!
Very attentive and friendly staff. Fantastic craft cocktails. Incredible happy hour deal on oysters - $1 each! Fresh seafood with delicious seasonal flavors.
This place is a must! My 2nd time going and I enjoyed it even more than the 1st time. The atmosphere is great, food and drinks delicious! Staff was very attentive and pleasant. I will keep coming and bring new friends 😀
Family favorite on the patio. Love the $1 oyster happy hour. Kids fish meal is excellent and service is always top notch.
A bit pricey but the food was great. Our waiter and manager/owner was really nice and attentive. Wish we could've gotten the char-grilled oysters for happy hour.
First time eating here. The oysters (fresh and baked) were delicious although smaller than expected. The oyster soup was good but the best part of the meal for me was the creole collards greens (2 thumbs up). This was an unexpected item on the menu and was truly a delight.
Overall the experience was very good.
First return visit since pandemic. Great food and service as always. Just always a special experience. Ate on the patio. You can request on open table I have such confidence in the seafood quality here. They source oysters from their family farm and other seafood from the best sources they can find.
Just a total all around great experience! Server superior, food delicious and bartender very attentive. This may be one of my new fave "go-tos"!
This restaurant could be fantastic. It’s like they’re phoning it in though. Atmosphere could be a lot better. Music doesn’t match atmosphere. Interior designer needed greatly for refresh. Bar is laughable both in size and stock. The strawberry salad and the grilled romaine are exceptional but quality control is lacking because it was larger and less salty on my previous visit here. Main courses were okay nothing to note. Older gentleman waiter was great last time but the young woman who served us this past Saturday was spotty at best. Needs better management.
Our party of five sat on the patio on a very hot evening when there were few other patrons at the restaurant, so noise was not an issue. Our server was outstanding, the oysters were delicious and the martinis cold.
Good was great and Todd was very helpful with wine selections!
The service was outstanding - server made us feel comfortable, was very knowledgable, and always attentive but never overbearing. Food was very tasty. We were not rushed at all.
This is my new fave restaurant in Charlotte! Kat was a knowledgeable, fun and efficient server. She definitely made the experience a home run. The food was excellent and the drinks were too. Highly recommend.
Restaurant acknowledged staffing concerns which is an ongoing issue right now. There was a significant wait for service and to receive our food but they did make effort to acknowledge and apologized. Our waitress was also the bartender and was very gracious. Food was on course for the value and expected quality and taste. The biggest issue was the manger who noticeably several times was rubbing his noise and coughing while taking orders and delivering ready entrees to guest. With COVID being an ongoing concern more safety and hygiene consideration was needed.
Great food, fine service , friendly
Best oyster happy hour in Charlotte!
Always a great experience! Thank you Todd and Katherine....Cheers!
