Rockit Burger Bar Ratings and Reviews
The only thing wrong was that I wish they had told us that only the "late night" menu was available when I called them earlier in the day to confirm the reservation. It was 9 pm and we wanted to eat; 9 pm seems early to stop serving the full menu on a Saturday night to me. However, they somewhat made up for this by bringing us a round of free drinks.
OK... where do I begin? I've had issues with this place for years, but keep going back because it's the only place in Wrigely to get a halfway decent actual handmade burger and not a frozen patty. They closed down for the entire winter, literally opening the first day of baseball season. I'm guessing this is due to the astronomical prices during the playoffs affording them to take 5 months off. Good for them, but not good for someone who lives in the neighborhood. You are serving a neighborhood, not just Cubs fans who drive in for games.
They NEVER seem to have specials. I went on a Sunday night. Why are there no specials? Not like it was packed, but again, they seem to cater only to Cubs fans during Cubs games. I even contacted them about it over the off-season, and not surprisingly, received no reply.
They removed the tater tots from the menu, charged me $14 for a burger that the menu says is $12, served me fries that clearly were made earlier in the day, and a burger that likely was as well. Fast service is good, but a burger and fries should take more than five minutes to make and serve no matter how dead it is.
During Cubs games, they will not allow you to order take out unless you come in there and wait for it, the overall level of service is not good (not surprising when they close for 5 months and only have seasonal staff), and they have been shut down for health code violations. The only redeeming quality they have still is that I can have my dog on the patio. I wish that they would focus on bringing a quality product to the neighborhood, but much like the Cubs themselves, they seem to really only care about the money at the end of the day, and unfortunately there are enough tourists who will not care how bad the experience is, when they can be sitting across the street from the wonderful office building that now blocks and hint that there is a baseball park behind it. Let's see if I get a reply to this- HAHAHA
I had the Farmhouse burger, and it was absolutely amazing! The BBQ pulled pork on top of the patty was so tasty. My friend had the Breakfast for Dinner burger, and she said the sweet taste of the donut with the savory taste of the burger was a perfect combo! I will definitely be coming back!
Great service! Pretty good atmosphere, however we were sat in the bar area next to where everyone walks by and that was kind of uncomfortable. I know they have booth seating in the other room and would have preferred that, especially with a reservation. The food was great, the pizzas were cooked perfectly! Also, there was a great beer selection. Would definitely come back for drinks with friends.
I was looking forward to dining here before a concert at the Metro and sad to say, I was a bit disappointed. We were seated outside, which was perfect with the exception of it being really dark by our table. I could not even read the menu...sigh...
The food was okay. We had the fries topped with mushrooms however the sauce was just too much, fries were soaked and mushy. We ordered one of the pizzas as well to share and it was bland. I skipped out on ordering a main dish but my friends had burgers and they thought they were pretty good. Overall, I would only go back if I am in a large group and I have no choice (like after a Cubs game).
Rocket Burger Bar is a great place to hit before watching the Cubbies on to victory. Much better food then the other bar/restaurants around Wrigley. Great burgers and fries. Be prepared though the service isn't super fast, so give yourself lots of time. In fact today, before the Cubs game they stopped taking food orders about an hour before the game, since the kitchen was backed up. Just give yourself plenty of time.
A group of six of us went here on a afternoon at about 3 pm. We were seated immediately and our table was waiting for us since we had a reservation and the place wasn't busy. It took the waitress a while to come take our drink orders and even longer to take our food orders. Even so she was really friendly and made great recommendations. About 30 mins of still no food ( we ordered burgers) the place got really packed and still only the one waitress. we all needed refills on our drinks which were never offered or even checked on. Our waitress then comes back to tell us the donut buns for our burgers are limited so some of us will have to get something else which was majorly disappointing because we drove from the far south suburbs just for THAT burger. Then 15 minutes later we were told there would be no donuts for anyone's burger, but we would get a free appetizer( 8 pieces of fried mac n cheese for 6 now starving adults). When our food finally did arrive it was absolutely delicious as was the horseradish bloody mary that I had. It was really a shame everything else was a disaster, we all left feeling like we had very much inconvenienced the staff by eating there. All in all we wanted to love this place (after all its the only place in the city that serves the BFD burger), but probably won't bother to try and come back to actually get one.
Sat on the patio before a Sunday Cubs game and expected it to be Brunch. It was just lunch, but we rolled with it. We had a good time and great food, but the worst waitress. Over 15 minutes to take our order and rarely checked on us. We felt ignored despite seeing her on the patio for other customers. I'm glad we booked a reservation with plenty of time before the game cause we needed it with our slow waitress.
We chose this place for lunch before the cubs game last Saturday. I started with a Bloody Mary after noticing several on the tables around me. Definitely a good choice to start with and the waitress offered menu suggestions but I didn't see a dish I didn't want to try. We tried different burgers and both came out to our satisfaction relatively quickly without being rushed. We lingered around on the prime patio for a couple beers after lunch with attentive service and not feeling rushed . It was a great start to a great day.
Server was very slow and she basically ignored us when we triedo get out check and go
the Cubs game. After standing attfegtsble for 10 minutes (hint, hint) the manager finally came over to help. Server had an attitude. Sorry, I nomslly don't bash restaurants or their help. And, I am (was) a frequent diner at Rocket Burger Bar
the only reason to go to this place is because its a good option
before a cub game.
the service terrible, slow, and no attention. (busboy was excellent!)
the burger is average and the tequila shots were a bit light.
reservations are a real plus and to their credit they honored them on time.
would only recommend for a pre cub game spot, if you dont want
to eat at game. otherwise , for drinks, go elsewhere.
First time on second floor; it was fine. Kitchen was much faster than a month ago, when waiter comped our lunch because we waited so long. Locavore is a fine burger. $5 All-Day IPA drafts are a great deal for Cubs pre-game meal. This is my new go-to place for meal before or after Cubs game.
