Rockit Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
I was not greeted nor seated by a host/hostess. We went and sat at the bar. We waited for 8 minutes before having to flag down a girl to get water. After that she disappeared for 5 minutes. Flagged down a guy and got menus. After that he disappeared. The girl came back and started talking to some guy at the end of the bar. I asked if we could get drinks and order food and she said " i'm not working the bar, I'm just standing here." The guy reappeared and finally got us drinks and took our order. He never asked us how things were. Served me the bloody mary but didn't tell me where the garnish bar was until I asked him about getting some green olives. This had to be one of the worst service experiences I have ever had.
This was our first time at Rockit for brunch, though we’ve been many times for dinner. It was delightful. There was a guitarist playing very mellow music, which created a lovely ambiance. The omelettes were perfectly cooked and I appreciated having a salad with mine and the coffee was delicious. We will come back.
The food and service were good. Menu is creative and burgers great. Prices are decent.
However, half of the beers we selected were out. Also, we were sat next to a crazy party that kept screaming and burping. Then, an elder man was getting into it with some younger women, causing a scene. I wouldn’t expect them to sit us in the bar area to eat, but that’s where we ended up. This was at 7:45, so not even drunk o’clock.
Food - great
Service - good
Ambiance - not the best
I am in charge of organizing an event for 110 sales people in Chicago in late Feb. and someone suggested we hold an evening event at Rockit. Figured before I contact them about a group event, I would do some secret shopping.
We were early for our 745pm reservation, but since they were only about 80% full we were seated right away. Good start. We waited 11 mins before our waiter John came to the table. He took our drink order, one Bloody Mary (no garnish) and one glass of Cab. 9 more minutes pass, not seen our waiter, but my Bloody Mary arrives (2 olives and 2 lemon wedges), but no glass of wine. 7 mins later I flag another staff member down to find John, he gets John and he then goes and gets the glass of wine.
Another 20 mins pass, I track down another staff member and John comes and asks if we are ready to order. Really? I ask for our bill and went across the street. It is Chicago - lots of choices.
So we drop $165 at another restaurant and I realize the value of secret shopping. $15K budget for a Tuesday night event in Feb., guess who isn’t getting that business. No second chances.
Lots of confusion at front. We were there for the first time and went up the stairs. The guy kept saying it’s a private party and I said we had a reservation. He didn’t help us figure out we in the wrong area for dining. Then, the host took our name passed us off to a lady who should 4 in our party of 6 to a terrible long high top with a post in the way. We said no, we’d rather have a better spot. We waited at least 20 min to find out the remaining two in our party were already seated at a table for six as we had reserved. From where we were standing, we could not see them. Terrible communication at front of house.
First time visiting and maybe the last....the service wasn’t the issue Jonah was attentive. So let me start with our drinks the sangarias were good, next our apps I had calamari and the other was a giant mozzarella stick...the calamari was good but it wasn’t shareable. The portion was very small for the price...the mozzarella stick was overly fried too me but my guest liked it.
Now we both ordered the battered cheese stuff burger one with truffle fries and the other regular when they arrived both burgers were under cooked so we had to send it back. Fries were great.
Management offered us a free dessert and was told it would be the banana creme pie. Our newly cooked burgers arrived definitely cooked not much cheese this time but we will take that since we wanted fully cooked burgers. Lastly our packed dessert arrived and the waiter even checked to say it was the pie....we come home and it’s bread pudding😔 So as nice as Jonah and the manager who didn’t give us his name were we will try something else.
We were visiting from out of town and were so happy to find this place for brunch. The food was great and everyone was so so nice. So we decided to come back to watch the game and our experience was completely different. We sat at the bar and the service was okay - and that's kinda a stretch . My husband ordered a beer and I got mix drink. My drink was not good at all . My husband finished his drink while mine was pretty much still full. No one asked why or how it was so we left. I really liked this place however will only come back for brunch.
I took a friend out for a birthday brunch in the morning. When we arrived there was only one small group seated. The restaurant had just opened. I ordered a mocha and it took awhile to get. Then we ordered waffles and a breakfast burrito which also took long and when It did come it wasn't even hot. The meals were simple that it shouldn't have taken as long as it did to put together especially with an empty restaurant. If it is was packed then I would've understood. I wasn't impressed by the service.
I was very disappointed in the experience this week. We had a reservation for 6, but the table was only set for 5. It took almost 40 minutes to get a place setting and water. The service was incredibly slow-- things were often forgotten and it took a long time, even for basic things such as sugar for coffee. After ordering drinks, it took an additionally long time to be told they were out of champagne. The waiter was very unfriendly. While the food was good and we have had good experiences here in the past, I was very disappointed by what happened Sunday.
We had awful service. Had to seek out a waiter after having no one come to our table for the first 30 minutes. We were celebrating a 21st birthday so it was super disappointing. Food took forever to come and was good, but not worth the wait. I would not go again, and would not recommend for a special occasion
food was very good but the service was poor. we waited 20 minutes to get the coffee we ordered for breakfast and that was only after reminding the waitress. Other tables who came later and were larger were served first. My husband ordered orange juice with breakfast. We didn't receive it with our coffee. We reminded three people that we were still waiting for it. It finally cane when our dishes were being cleared. I told the waitress that we no longer wanted it as we were finished with breakfast. She left it on the table and charged us for it. I reminded her to take it off the bill which she did. She apologized for the service because she was " swamped." The restaurant was half empty. It will probably be a while before I revisit. By the way , get the water guy to fill coffee and clear tables. /we saw him the most
Horrible service. The bartender wasn't at work to make the drinks until an hour into our meal which kept the server busy. We didn't get our food order placed until 40 minutes into the meal. It took an hour for the food to come out. I asked the server to check on the food when he rarely came by and he acted as if that was a very novel idea. He'd never heard of keeping the table abreast of the food situation. Food was good, but not worth the service.
We were looking for a late night restaurant after attending a concert at the Grant Park Music Festival in Millenium Park. Found Rockit on Open Table and the ratings were good and the menu offered some inexpensive entries. We were not looking for a major dinner experience. That said, this is one of the noisiest restaurants I've ever encountered. The music was loud and dominated by a thumping bass; the surrounding tables noisy. One had to shout to be heard. I would not go back, nor can I recommend this unless you want this kind of ambiance. It appeared to be a place that attracted a young crowd. The noise level wasn't just energetic, it was just LOUD! Plus, they seated our group of five at a high-top table on backless stools. If that were my only issue, it could be forgiven, but it was late and we had a long day of travel. Food was good and met our needs, but we had a poor experience, overall.
