Rock Center Cafe Ratings and Reviews
We were looking forward to a delicious breakfast as shown on their website but were so disappointed to find a much smaller brunch menu available instead. This should be noted on website as we would certainly have changed our plans and gone on a weekday instead .
Daughters 21st - were seated at a table only for the manager to come over, noticing from our booking it was my daughters 21st and moving us to a table nearer the ice rink. Then, 3 glasses of complimentary sparkly were brought over, which was lovely. The food we had was fantastic and the service excellent. This was topped off with a complimentary birthday cheesecake arriving which was the best ever. Cannot fault this venue at all, everything was superb. Thank you for making my daughters birthday special.
I've had breakfast here a few times, and it was very nice. Quiet and great service and food. Didn't have a good experience at lunch this week, which is disappointing as I suggested meeting here. It was very noisy which was particularly frustrating as I was meeting a dear friend and it was the first time I was meeting his 14 year old daughter who lives in Paris and who was very soft spoken. The food was faIr. The waiter brought the wrong order, my soup was blah, there was barely any chicken in the Chicken Caesar Salad.
FOOD: My friend and I enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the roasted butternut squash soup to start. Both were tasty, but the soup was a bit on the sweet side (just a head's up). He had the flank steak and I had the 28-day dry-aged sirloin and both were made well and tasted great, including their respective side dishes of Brussels sprouts and steak fried potatoes. SERVICE: Service was attentive, friendly and at a good pace for our schedule. We couldn't stay for dessert because we had to head to a show. ACCESS: Restaurant and restrooms were both wheelchair accessible via an elevator on the street level.
Greeter was rude and ignored our request for a specific location despite tables being open in that area. Waiter was curt and not friendly; food was cold when served, potato hash was soggy as if the potatoes had been cooked and reheated. For the prime location and view this was an culinary experience I would not recommend to travellers.
If you are visiting from out of town in October, November or December a lunch or dinner here is a must. The beautiful art deco of the Rockefeller Center combined with the fun of watching the skaters while you dine makes for a special experience. Reasonably priced and great service with great food.
Have always enjoyed going to Rock Center Café. Great location, and ambiance. The service was outstanding, the waitress ensured that my food was prepared exactly how I wanted and offered up a salad for a side dish which was great. The gentleman kept covering over to refill our water glasses and offered up bread from the bread basked. The food and beverages were also great. Overall, great experience overall and I would recommend it to others. Thanks
Though I am a lifelong New Yorker, this was actually the first time I had ever eaten at this restaurant. I needed to find a location convenient to a meeting at Rockefeller Center. The whole experience was so enjoyable that I’m surprised I hadn’t heard anything about this restaurant previously. The food was quite good, the decor warm and comfortable, and the view of the skating rink and the gilded statue outside was terrific. I would definitely come here again and would recommend this to anyone who wants to get the flavor of Rockefeller Center, both visually and in terms of good food.
We had lunch following a visit to Top of the Rock. The hamburger was quite good with shoestring fries. The gazpacho was so-so. The chicken caesar salad was typical. Service was attentive. The main feature is the view of the Prometheus statue and the 30 Rock building. There are some signature cocktails too along with soft-seating (couches) for those who just want to enjoy a drink. We had a nice time.
I have eaten at this location before and found the food tasty. This time the brunch was lacking. One of the diners I was with had the pancakes and they were good. I had the American breakfast (bread not included) and it was cold when served and tasteless. The omelet was awful according to those who had it. The salads were a little better. The cheesecake was the best item. You can't beat the atmosphere though. We had guests from out of town and they were thrilled with the location and the atmosphere. That is why I would recommend it to others. Restaurant should try a little more with their food.
We sat outside for breakfast at the Rock Center Cafe before going to the Top of the Rock. Very nice atmosphere. Food was ok, some of it was a little bit cold though. Service could use improvement. We had to wait a long time to place our order, then to get drinks and then again for our food. Waiter was very nice otherwise. Very overpriced as well, but that comes with location.
