Saturday at 12:30 was only brunch menu available. Probably my misunderstanding, because I saw a lunch menu listed online, when I enquired about ordering from the lunch menu I was told that was only for weekdays. However towards the end of my meal I saw people eating items from the lunch menu... so I am now guessing lunch starts later and the hostess AND server I had asked didn’t know OR didn’t want to explain that later in the day Lunch would be available. Another disappointment was I had reservations for a table for 4 people, we were sat at the far end of the dinning room that had the worst possible view of the ice skating, and was adjacent to the server station. I asked for one of the many other 4 tops more centrally located in the dinning room. I was told those tables were reserved. In my 1:30 minutes at the restaurant any about 50% of those tables were seated. It is still a decent restaurant. Everyone I encountered just seemed to be a little bit stressed. I was with out of town guests, they did enjoy. I went with the flow, because they didn’t know how much better the experience could have been.
Excellent breakfast with a friendly, attentive and accomodating staff
Love this place. The food was delicious, hav fun watching through the glass while people were ice skating
The food and service is always excellent. We love watching the skaters. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about Prometheus.
The food was fabulous! The vegetarian lentil soup was sublime and the eggplant appetizer the best I've had in years! The wait staff was not up to par that day, but this is very unusual.
Great service.. and kids had a blast watching the skaters.we were lucky to have seats right at window...
Menu on app is a bit unclear as it doesn’t say breakfast menu is only weekday and brunch menu is for weekends. Food is great, location is fun as get to watch ice skaters.
Best birthday dinner ever. A repeat is a must on the best one
What a wonderful experience! My second time dining herr and again, truly a treat. Shared the baked Camembert with pear and hazelnut with toast. Delish. The petite filet with braised Brussels sprouts was the best I’ve had in a year. Served with a smooth horse radish cream sauce, it was moist and tender. I had a bite of the skate fish and it was quite tasty. With wine, coffee and a cheesecake, the bill was $140. Pricey but the fabulous service, great food and magical ambiance made it so worth it.
The temperature was too hot! Very uncomfortable. Need to make it cooler.
This was a reservation for my mom and her friends after a matinee. They raved about everything. Treated very well. Food and drinks were wonderful. Loved their table. 5 star experience overall.
took my teenage daughters here for dinner after a show. we loved watching the skaters and had a great meal. The menu didn't have a ton of options for my girls on it, but they made the steak plain and the pasta plain for them. Very accommodating. The prices were more than I thought the "cafe" was going to be, but again... the staff was wonderful and the experience was great.
3rd time for me. The service went down drastically. I specifically asked for a window seat and saw 3 of them empty nor reserved. All Asians were on the hallway side. I hope that's not based on racism. then the pastries go around, I didnt get anything until I asked for it to another server separately and showed my discomfort with the restraunt service. I had a good memory of thia place so I brought my mother. Although she didn't notice anything, but because I know this place, this visit was way below average. please review your staff's service level.
We sat near the window and delighted in watching the ice skaters. Brunch and drinks were delicious. Our waiter was helpful and allowed us to enjoy a leisurely brunch. The best way to spend a Sunday morning!
Very pricey even for NYC. $70 for two salads for lunch.
Excelente restaurant week !!lo mejor ,el servicio ,la comida también ,obvio pero sobresale la atención del personal
We go for the cheesecake. Unfortunately, this time, the cheesecake was served with bad whipped cream. We were told it wasn't harmful, but the chef grabbed the wrong whipped cream and served up unsweetened cream, but it was more than that, something about it being for show. Anyway, it was a sour ending to an otherwise enjoyable evening with good food. We had a long day of walking around NYC, and this was a nice respite before going on to our play. It was fun to watch the skaters on the ice rink outside the window while we dined.
awesome meal superb service
It's exciting to be able to watch the skaters. This is definitely a tourist restaurant and maybe that is why the service was was sub par. We are not tourists. We came for the burgers which were very good, but the poor service diminished the experience. Waiter should at least know the difference between red and white wines.
The service was excellent and we were allowed to enjoy a leisurely lunch and not feel rushed. The ice skating rink was a nice backdrop and the skaters were fun to watch.
It was good brunch spot with above average food and a wonderful view of the ice rink.
Birthday husband 70th , daughters, son in law , 3 grandchildren a very special day . Thank you to all the staff and to our wonderful waiter ... best birthday ever..
Our server was amazing! You could tell he enjoyed his job! The food is always great and the view is awesome!
Really fantastic. Good food and service. Great view of the ice skaters. You gotta go at least once!
There were highs and lows. The fried calamari appetizer was delicious - the calamari was very tender and fresh and not greasy. The ambiance was memorable for my friends who were from out of town. We had brunch and the menu selection was diverse. My burger was fantastic but the fries - which were cooked to perfection - should have been warmer. Likewise, one guest said his pancakes were not warm enough when served. We were only a party of 4. The cheesecake dessert was excellent but the blueberry olive oil cake was dry and semi-stale. Serving it warm might have helped. There really is no excuse for cold or stale food and it was a shame because the burger, chicken, pasta and cheesecake were so very good.
Our experience was great as usual. This is our second time dining here. We had reservations at 12, and got seated right away (even though we arrived 30 minutes early). The restaurant was fairly empty so we got to sit next to the huge window overlooking the skating rink. I am on a low carb diet and everything I requested was granted. I asked to omit the bun on my burger (and I added bacon and avocado). Also, I asked to substitute a salad instead of fries. Everyone’s food was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place!
As always, we had a great lunch while we enjoyed watching the ice skating.
Fun dinner, great looking out at the skateing rink and all the characters and the best-- GOOD FOOD
Very disappointing. Would not recommend. Reservation was late. First table assigned was terrible in a corner next to the service bar Declined that table. Was told we could not have the 4 course dinner we signed up for but then this was rectified. Forgot to give us 2nd course so had to take back third course and bring second which was not hot. Waitress was terrible. Other than the ambiance, this was a very bad experience.
Amazing food! The service was great and watching the people ice skate was so much fun.
Food was excellent. Window table with a view of the skating rink. Service was excellent. All in all, very fair value for a very enjoyable brunch.
I recently celebrated a "big" birthday, and as a present I received a gift card to the Sea Grille and tickets to see Beautiful. When i called to make the dinner reservation, i was disappointed that the Sea Grille was closed for a private party. However, it was suggested that we try the Rock Cafe as an alternative. I am so happy we did that! The Rock Cafe was such a special treat, and being able to look out and watch the skaters was so entertaining and joyful. The food was delicious and artistically presented, and the service was attentive and considerate....when we informed them that we had tickets to an 8 PM show, they made every effort to help us get out on time. It was my mistake to not have allowed more time to enjoy the venue; i would have loved to linger longer and soak in the whole scene. Absolutely a great experience that i highly recommend.
We came for an early business breakfast. Fresh, French-pressed coffee started us off follwed by delicious eggs, yoghurt, breads. Great view. Great service.
For treating a young tourist in mid-winter, watching the ice skaters, with lovely service and more than adequate food, the restaurant was fine.
I’ve been here a few times and love it but we were disappointed by the attitude of the waiter...New Yorker who didn’t like tourists. You don’t have tourists, you’re going to be missing quite a few customers.
Lovely setting overlooking the skating rink. Nice menu, good food, pleasant, efficient service. Enjoyed it.
Great place & food.
Great view of Ice Rink
Fun, Merry and Seasonal
Overlooking the rink, and beautiful Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, this cafe serves solid food by friendly, very attentive servers in casual digs. The star of Rock Center Cafe is it’s incredible location and wonderful view of “winter in NYC”. Watching the skaters and the tree while dining is terrific, and could bring a smile to Ebenezer Scrooge. The ambiance, while casual, is warm and the view is magical. Almost as an aside, the food has gotten much better than it was, and is now quite solid. The kale salad was very good and chicken with broccoli rabe was good. The lobster bisque was just fair, while the winter vegetable stew, burger and petite filet mignon were all quite good. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were good as well.
Everyone, and I mean everyone, who visits or resides in NY, must enjoy a festive, merry, lunch or dinner at Rock Center Cafe. You WILL leave with the Christmas spirit and a smile on your face.
