We eat at RB pretty regularly. Tonight was for our kids' birthdays. Service - our server was nice and got the orders correct, but overall service was slow and it took the kitchen a LONG time to get our food out. We said it was the kids' birthday and they said they could do sundaes. The sundaes were great, but I was surprised, and a little disappointed, when they charged us for birthday sundaes, which at most restaurants are free.
Greedy by a few of the staff upon entering. Very nice. Waitress was friendly and very efficient! EXCELLENT service. The food was average. Had the bean burger which was mostly breadcrumb. Not very healthy nor a good source of protein. The side of vegetables were undercooked. Loved the heat from the chipotle mayo. Surprised the bun on a vegetarian burger was toasted with butter. Perhaps it was something non-dairy. The restroom was horrendous.
We had a reservation for 8 on Easter Sunday. They seated us promptly, and took our order without us having to wait. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was just right. We'll be back soon!
Good for the night
Didn't have a good first impression walking in as some lady told me to "Never swing my ponytail at her again" as soon as I arrived at the bar. I thought she was kidding and started laughing. It turns out she was not.
If it wasn't for our service, my boyfriend and I probably would have left after that. Luckily the beer was good, the food was great and our server was really nice.
Would recommend going to dinner early here, if that's the meal of choice, because the place gets really busy as time goes by.
I have mixed feelings about Rock Bottom. There were several positives and negatives. Our table was not ready when we arrived and although we only had to wait 10 minutes it was a bit annoying. The venue is very loud (we could barely hear the waitress). Our waitress was very good, but it took a while for the food to come out. Their beer selection is not very big, but I enjoyed my selection (kolsch). The best part of the night was my steak (Texas Fire Ribeye) which was delicious, but my macaroni and cheese came out cold.
Overall the review is mixed, but I would give them a try again if I was in town.
As usual best place for a casual dinner. Service was outstanding
We had great burgers, shared beer flights & amazing carrot cake!
Everything was good but for Party of Seven you should really use table accommodating 8 instead of putting sitting on the ends. Too crowded this way.
Host was distracted and didn’t quite get us to the table and forgot menus.
Hubs and I were kid free and decided to hit a laid back place for dinner. We’ve been to RB plenty times before, and they don’t disappoint. We made a reservation for 4:45 and got there at 4:30, since there wasn’t a long wait they took us to a table as soon as we arrived. Service was great and so was the food. No complaints here!
Food was good and the server tried his best but they were under staffed , it took a long time to place our initial our 15 min for the beer and another 15 min after the whole party arrived and food took forever about 45 min to come.
Best value for good food. Relaxed environment with excellent staff.
I booked my reservation, on line. The hostess did not see my reservation. I showed her my confirmation email & she sat us right away.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was great. Accommodated a large party with short notice. Thank you.
Ordered rib eye steak was good mashed potatoes were cold I also ordered a wedge salad to have before my meal got my wedge after my steak and still got charged for the wedge
Picked Rock Bottom at Random to try while we were in San Jose. Was pleased with the in house beer selection as well as the food. Had read reviews about slow service but we had great service. Just the right amount of checking in. Will go back again at some point.
A little hard to find at first in the shopping center.
Food was good but service was not good. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our table even with our reservation. The waitress charged us for the wrong wine (a more expensive wine) and charged for 2 of the same entree when we only got one.
Six ladies came to have lunch and 4 of us ordered coffee keokes. The waitress came after 20-25 minutes with plain coffee and cream on the side. We explained these drinks are made with hot coffee, brandy, kahlua and whipped cream on top. She left and 20 minutes or so comes back and the coffee is cold. Then when we got the bill these drinks were almost $9.00 each!!! When we asked her about the price she said "I don't make the prices". Overall the service for our food and drinks took 45-60 minutes and we arrived at 11:30. Several weeks ago we cam to this restaurant and were told we couldn't order off the Happy Hour menu cause we weren't sitting in the right section!!! Last time I will be back!!!
Fried food was way over cooked. Hopefully just a one-off case, but I wouldn't order anything fried again there.
The worst. This restaurant chain considers customers to be an inconvenience. We won’t be bothering them again. OpenTable should audit Rock Bottom—they have a habit of dropping reservations.
I love Rock Bottom and I have been a few times. The food is always good but the service when we went was crap. They even told us when we got there that is was a slow night so the food should come out quick. It took forever to take our order, my grandpa ordered wings and the server didn't order them since she said 'I wasn't sure you wanted them' idk what that even means but when when she brought out all other appetizers and we realized there was no wings we ordered them and they came 45 minutes later. 45 minutes for some wings. My brother ordered a beer and 25 minutes later he had to get up and go ask where it was. Stuff came out in strange orders and the waitress never seemed to be around. Rock Bottom is usually great but that night the service was crap. I would guess the server was new and not very good at her job. My husband got so annoyed he didn't even order dinner.
Great place and nice ambiance. I love the staffs here, they are friendly and knowledgable. The food and the drinks are great!
Thank you to the staff at Rock Bottom. Just celebrated my daughter’s birthday here and the server and wait staff were great! I can’t wait to go back to try more of the entrees.
Whole experience was unacceptable. Arrived, and our table was not ready. Very few diners, would have expected reserved tables to be identified by staff. Ordered cocktails, my wife swears there was no alcohol in her's. Ordered nacho's as a appetizer, was decent, no small plates offered. Platter was never bussed, stayed in the middle of the table entire meal. Waitress seemed new, no checking back for drink refills, reorders, how was the food, etc. Long time to get check. It might have just been New Year's Eve, but my guess is this is pretty standard, a lot of empty tables, and available reservations. Should have known.
We enjoyed a nice dinner with friends the other night. The smoked chicken tacos (4) were tasty and plentiful, though could use some sauce on them. The fried pickles were great and the hot Asiago crab and artichoke dip was also a winner! The burgers were huge and tasty as well. Service was good and attentive and we had a good time catching up
Service was not good tonight. Waited to be seated, despite reservation and open seating readily available. Waited another 10 minutes for server to make an initial visit. By that point we were ready to order both drinks and our meal. The meal took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, despite there being only 3 of us and two of the meals were actually appetizers. Despite the wait, our waiter never stopped by, until we finally waived him down for a long overdue refill. Just an overall poor service evening.
We live in the neighborhood and like to come here for casual dining. The food is relatively good and we can't go wrong with beer too.
We came here for dinner. Food was good and we like that they have seasonal beer. My husband tried the Wicked Elf and I had the Bottoms Up. For dinner he had smoked chicken tacos and I had the jambalaya. Bottoms Up is my usual beer and I like it the best and the jambalaya was delicious. My husband was ok with his Wicked Elf and he liked his dinner. We had a very good server. We'll be back.
We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Though they mentioned that I had marked the occasion, there wasn’t anything special offered. The service was great, the food was even better. The beer was exceptional. Atmosphere was as expected for a brew-pub - business dinners, friends, families. Overall great experience, and we will definitely go again.
We ordered two burgers, one medium and the other medium-well, both came out medium-rare. Waiter never checked on us after our food came and most of our party left before I called out to waiter for check. Beer is good and I’d like to like the place, but out of the six of us at the table it pretty much sucked.
We have been to this location of Rock Bottom several times for dinner with various friends and have found it to be very good value for money compared with most other restaurants in the vicinity.
Our early dinner was packed with World Series excitement. Five of us had not visited together in a long while. Luckily we had a reservation & service was great! Three of us had the chicken tacos; Yum!
Love this place — especially the rib eye steak, crab and artichoke appetizer, and beer sampler. Lovely, noisy, fun and satisfying.
We come here at least every other week and it seems to always get a little worse service every time. It’s so loud with the music and people talking. Turn off the music! The beer even tasted a little off this time. The food has always been good. Service was pretty good, very busy but at least this waitress was productive as other times they have not been.
Came here for happy hour with husband on Thursday. It was a nice day and we chose to sit outside. The hostess was super friendly and performed excellent service, as well as our server. This was our very first experience coming here receiving excellent service that worth my time to write a review.
We had a coupon through email for a burger and a beer for $10. What a deal! We loved it. The burger was good. I like my usual Faller Wheat and my husband had Rocktoberfest Lager. We both liked our beers. Finger tenders were good too. Wish they have more food selection on happy hour menu though.
We will come back soon. As a matter of fact, we come here often enough, sometimes with family and friends.
We went in to this restaurant thinking it would have great beers. Neither of us could find one we liked. The food was OK for a sports bar and after begging the manager she finally put on the game we asked for, the game of the week. In going to the rest room there were 4 urinals, of which only one did NOT have a bag over it, so the rest were unusable. Not the best experience I have ever had at a restaurant!
Plenty of food and wide range of drinks. Moderate pricing.
Fun little place to grab dinner with our littles. Beers/burgers and kids meals were good. We'll be back. We also used a $20 OpenTable gift certificate here and it was really nice.
