Rock Bottom Brewery Restaurant - La Jolla Ratings and Reviews
Service was a little poor. I sat a while before I was approach by another waitress asking if I had been seen. She brought me water and it still took a while before my waitress arrived, then on 2 occasions food that we didn't order came to the table. Everything seemed a little disorganized. We enjoyed the food but service could definately use some improvement.
The reviews are true! This is a great place. They were very accommodating when I needed my motorized scooter plugged in, when I wanted the Cowboys game on and when I asked for more jalapeños. Our server was happy and accommodating and we were very comfortable. I loved the vibe and the people. The food was solid too!
We went for lunch. I had the pulled pork and upgraded to the Mac n cheese side dish. By far the worst Mac n cheese I have ever had in a restaurant. The pulled pork was dry!!! My wife and niece both had the lobster and shrimp enchiladas. They were very happy with their meals. The service was excellent. The waitress took my meal off the bill, and since we were celebrating birthdays, she comped us dessert. The carrot cake is sooooo delicious. Of course, that could have been just because I was starving since my meal wasn't edible.
Rock Bottom is always great. It's quiet at lunchtime so good for a business meeting and it's fun in the evening especially in the bar - which is noisy in the evening. The food is very good value and the beer is good. Most of the servers are young and have worked there for a long time -- they care about getting to know the customers and giving great service.
We went here based on the reviewed of others online but we were not please. The Asiago Artichoke & Crab Dip hardly has any crab and came very loose not as a thick dip to use on the toasted crostinis and not tasty either. The classic buffalo wings do not have much taste and came a bite dry. The steak is tender but again no taste. The batter on the onion rings did not came crispy. Their famous Bacon Chicken Mac 'N Cheese was a very big disappointment. It is so loose in the cream sauce, bacon wasn't even crispy and chicken has no taste. The Lobster & Shrimp Enchiladas I did not even tasted any lobster and it has ways too much green chile cream on top. We were very disappointed with the meals and regardless to say we left a lot of food behind uneaten with paying over $100.00. This place is probably good for the bar and watching games. However the service was very good.
I made a reservation for a group of coworkers at 8:15. When we showed up, the restaurant was over half empty, yet they didn't have a table ready for us. It took them until 8:45 to finally seat us. The hostess ignored us and barely looked up from her tablet.
Our server was very nice, but new, and he messed up several of our drink and food orders. He did correct them.
It took over two hours to get our drinks, food and bills. It was a very long dinner.
Were seated right away, earlier than our reservation. Loud, crowded and waiters were overloaded. Food came out wrong the first time and when it finally came out right, it just wasn't good at all. Bill was wrong and we were overcharged. Waiters seemed to be doing their best but the kitchen just isn't up to par. I'd only go for drinks but it's not a place we will ever go to again.
I ordered the jambalaya and the chicken/sausage was over cooked. Didn't taste like jambalaya either, it was like they just dumped a Cajun sauce on it and that was all. I could have made it much better myself at home. I went here several years ago and had great lobster tacos. Where did all the sea food on the menu go? Also, it was very loud. All the TVs were obnoxious. Service was friendly though. Gave us samples of beer just because.
Overall good venue, but service was marginal... had a group of 14 and clearly the bar staff and table staff don't share tips because we we constantly hounded about closing our bar tab... and it didn't help that our table wasn't ready at our reserved time. I've had better experiences at a Rock Bottom Brewery in the past. This was pretty disappointing. I don't expect to recommend this venue again for a larger group of friends to get together.
Waiter was off, totally overwhelmed of he just straight ignored us. He would help parties of two but waited for his team to pick up his slack with our table of six. Very disappointing. Worst waiter at location ever encountered. Pony tail guy, I don't know what was up with him. Luckily the other waiters noticed and helped us out.
We had a long lunch with a group of us friends/former co-workers who we haven't seen for a long time. We were there quite a long time and was never rushed. Kaelin was our server and she was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable on the menu and drinks, and was there to check in w/us for any wants/needs.
Food was good, however, a couple friends who ordered the chicken tortilla soup said it was really salty.
Will be back again soon.
I had the new Brewery Appetizer Combo and it was not as good as the one they don't have any more. A lot of little bread balls and French fries. Not worth the money. Of course the beer is always refreshing. I also had the Chicken Fried Chicken. I didn't like the coating on the outside of the chicken. Didn't taste good to me. The potatoes and gravy were very good, but not the apple coleslaw. It was very dry. I won't get either again. They do have some very good food though.
The food was delicious. Our server was attentive and made sure my daughter (who we were there to celebrate) felt special for an achievement by doing a magic trick for her!
I used to go to another Rock Bottom before it was closed and I was very excited to find this one in San Diego. I will go back next time I am in town.
